Jayadevi is a one of a kind organization in South Florida. There are no other organizations in the area with a mission like Jayadevi's, which is preserving Indo-Caribbean culture. They are not just about dancing. Jayadevi teaches about the history and the meaning of our culture, and not only to members of the organization and dance school, but the public as well. Through the dances and theatrical drama productions we research the background and history of songs, stories and ideas and their meanings and translate that into truly remarkable performances for the dancers and the audience. Kids that join Jayadevi are exposed to the Indo-Caribbean culture, which is not something that they can learn about easily growing up in the US. They don't just learn dance moves to a song. They learn the meaning behind the lyrics and each movement. They learn about discipline, teamwork, building relationships and helping each other. They learn together, teach each other, help each other get dressed, etc. Being part of Jayadevi really is being part of a family.

Jayadevi is a great dance school that teaches different forms of indian dance and my daughter and I have learned so much in the 2 years we’ve been there. We get the opportunity to dance at almost all Indo Caribbean events throughout the 3 counties (Dade, Broward and Palm Beach). I enjoy going to dance class, practicing and rehearsing dances. Getting dressed in the beautiful dance costumes and performing dances in front of hundreds of people is very exciting. I like being a part of a team and everyone looking out for each other. Sharing these experiences are memories I’ll cherish forever.

Since I’ve come in contact with JayaDevi I have learnt so much. I’ve gained knowledge and a better understanding of Indo-Caribbean culture, spirituality, and Hinduism. I’ve also obtained a stronger sense of confidence and courage through performing on stage in front of audiences. My experiences have been priceless and I would absolutely encourage anyone who is seeking to be a part of something bigger to join this organization which is also very family orientated. Jayadevi also plays a big role in giving back to the community. So not only will you achieve great experiences, you can help spread and share it with others locally and internationally.

Jaya Devi Arts provides dance classes to people of all ages and experience levels. The instructor and founder, Denyse Baboolal, is patient and encouraging. She tailor's the lessons for the individual need of the student. The recent show at Broward Regional Park in celebration of the Holi Festival was successful and I am proud to have been apart of it and the organization for the past 4 years.

Attending & performing in "Cosmic Dancer Tandava" was my 1st Jayadevi Arts Production, which featured a talented showcase of dancers, singers and musicians. The stage settings, costumes and props were outstanding. Most importantly Jayadevi's expert coreography was coordinated impeccably. My experience has been enlightening and I look forward to future endeavors with this non profit organization and members.

My daughter has been apart of Jiadevi arts for a long time, and I am so grateful that she has joined and has the dance instructor as an admirable adult in her life. My daughter has learned a lot about her culture in this group. I would not want her to be anywhere else. The instructor also choreograph word by word of Indian songs therefore my child learns parts of Hindi. Also her being in this dance group helped her break out of her shyness and has disciplined her to make right choices.

I have been with Jiadevi arts since I was 6 years old. Not only is the dance instructor a great and passionate person but she has become someone I can rely on, she truly makes you feel comfortable and is a great teacher who will not give up on you even if you can’t do a move to save your life. I will highly suggest someone to become a jiadevi dancer. She serves the community as much as she can free of charge and she will always be there at a event helping. She organizes and hosts events frequently, and does it Spectacularly.

Many did not agree with having the festival but the organizers too the beating of verbal abuse and still had their event! That's commitment to the community!!!

Their musical dance dramas are of Broadway level but they are not funded enough! We need to help this organization get more funding. They are doing such great things but the majority dont see this. I wish they all the best in the future and how they grow to new heights. Tony Ramkeesoon

It was a great event I experienced in Florida with Jayadevi Arts on March 18. The only organization receiving sponsorship from Florida State and County in the Indo-Caribbean community. It was a pleasure for me to participate. The Hamare Purvaj was a great experience. I had to call the elders in my family to get an ancestors song and came up with "Batohiya". A song our ancestors used to sing while planting rice and sugar cane reminiscing about their homeland. The Phagwah section it was amazing to see the American born youths so involved. Jayadevi gives them a platform to express and showcase their talent. Hats off to Jayadevi for having a clean no alcohol Pandit approved Holi/Phagwah. The Best Holi festival in the traditional way. Great to be apart of this event and this organization. Thank you for representing my country Suriname my country's music Baithak Gana and dance Londa Ki nach. Nice to see all the Youth in Florida doing Suriname music!!!! i feel blessed!

I attended Jayadevi Arts Inc 5th United Phagwah/Holi Celebration on March 18, 2017 at the Central Broward Regional Park and was not prepared for what I saw. It was trilogy; you got a little history, demonstrations, the cultural and the artistic sides. Definitely the best to date!
I liked the trilogy concept. Showcasing our ancestry while simultaneously keeping it relevant by reaching out to the millennials & younger with the social media celebrities was ingenious.

I recently attended the "Ganges Meets the Nile" at the Miramar Cultural Center and once again, I was captivated by this performing arts production. It was a fusion of Indo-Caribbean and Afro-Haitian drumming and dancing. The venue definitely provided the professional environment to showcase an event of this caliber. At a time of such divisiveness, it was so refreshing to see these 2 groups of performers unite to show that we have so much more in common than differences. Congratulations on another fantastic event! Congratulations go out to the performers, technical staff, support staff and the JAI Board. Can't wait to see what 2017 will bring! After watching this fantastic show, it solidified my commitment to JAI's growth and development.

I joined Jayadevi Arts about a year ago and has continued my participation since this is the only place that works together with the public to bring together different cultures. In our recent show we had the African Americans and the Indo Caribbean were portrayed in the smashing hit "Ganges meet the Nile." A few salsa steps were also incorporated in one of the dance. As times goes on I am sure our choreographer Ms. Denyse Babolal will bring in more of the different cultures that make up our great nation, "The United States of America."

Makes you remember how it was so that we can take our children back to where it all started. Some of the things we had forgotten even. But that's what Jaya devi does. Does not let you forget what our ancestors brought to the Caribbean, for us, for our identity.

Jayadevi has been growing at a fast pave. At only 7 years old this organization went to suriname south America on Sept 19 2015 in a 6hrs chutney n presented 22 dances!!!! The dancers are few but chosen students to be with Jayadevi...

Jayadevi hope to be performing more on an international level and doing more collaborative work with other organizations in the community and internationally.

In 2016 that process will begin starting with "Ganges meets the Niles" where afro and indo Caribbean music and dance come together on 1 stage displaying their commonalities and differences

Jayadevi Arts is a VERY unique organization Florida is very Lucky to have. Jayadevi works very hard in uniting a stubborn community like the Indo-Caribbeans. They dont support financially and they look for all the faults to magnify, but that NEVER stops Jayadevi!!!! The still keep it going.

The United Phagwah/holi Celebration in March was very good and growing every year getting better and better. 4years growing and getting better and better
The Hardcore chutney with great artists from Trinidad & Suriname was fantastic all who missed it you are a fool!!!! Best Chutney show!
Last year the first Indo-Caribbean Musical dance drama with a cast of 40 artists and 2 venues if you missed this well you miss out bad!!!! Plus it was funded but the County and State !!!! Which Indo-Caribbean Organization funded but BOTH county and State????
There maybe a few technical stuff they have to work on but thats small stuff with any organization. Give This organization HATS OFF !!!!!! Our community is VERY difficult and if the Director didnt have a strong back bone she would never make it 7 years strong.

This is one of the BEST Indo-Caribbean organizations i have see in a very long time and I cant wait to see what else they have coming up!!!!

Jayadevi Arts has boosted the indocaribbean culture here in the US by teaching not only different styles of dances that link us to our traditional roots in India but also encompasses the mystic of the Caribbean culture. Most artiste are of a Caribbean background. In keeping with cultures it passes down to the younger generation the traditions that our elders have lived so well ... both in religion, stories and dance. For example our recent HOLI festival .... even on a rainy day as we had ... the crowds attended.
I am a board member and also an artiste. I am 58 year old and it's good to see that Jayadevi is keeping traditions alive.

JayaDevi is serving a much needed,& very crucial part in the Cultural Arts scene in Florida. That of endeavoring to preserve & grow the rich cultural heritage & history of IndoCaribbeans that now live elsewhere. If what I saw at this Kitchrie weekend is a representative sample, then they are well on their way to their goal.Through music, dance, drama, etc.audiences of all races were introduced to the vast cultural tapestry that is the IndoCaribbean heritage. It brought together performers of all ages, ranging from the littlest dancer of 4 years, so eager to learn & absorb, through all the ages between, up to the elders, our custodians-eager to share & pass on their knowledge.Because the show included performers from the various countries of the Diaspora, you were able to see how while all countries had some basics in common, there were also aspects that had stayed unique to their individual countries. These were the best of the best, found & brought together to show what they do so well.Sharing their knowledge & learning, passing it on.JayaDevi is well in the forefront of this cultural surge.I am proud to have assisted in this project.

I went to the “Kitchrie Festival 2014 Chaakay” on July 19, 2014 at Hollywood Performing Arts Center in South FL that Jaya Devi Arts hosted which is all about young adults trying to live their lives according to the modern lifestyle. And the parents would like them to keep some traditions, this one was an arranged marriage for their daughter who was dead against it. The play was well put together it’s their first one can only get better this was something new to South Florida which was refreshing to see. The play was very entertaining and funny keep you interesting, the music, the Jaya Devi and the guest dancers the singers and to see the drummers from Trinidad, Guyana, Jamaica, & Suriname were very enjoyable. The play portrayed a very good reminder of the cultural heritage that the younger and older generation needs to see and to preserve, teach, promote and, unite the people of the Indo-Caribbean.
The skit the writer portrayed in the beginning of play was very entertaining and funny she had the audience laughing throughout it very funny.
So thank you Jaya Devi Arts for bringing these shows to South Florida, looking forward for the next one.

Their efforts if supported by leadership in our community would bring our Caribbean community closer as our culture is representative of every creed and race with which many community residents and citizens worldwide can identify. Let's support the Caribbean arts!

I have been a dancer in Jayadevi Arts for the past 2 and a half years and it has changed my life for the better. The organization has made me a more outgoing and confident person. I was introduced to my fellow dancers who will be lifelong friends. The events that were put on by the organization were successful and portray many aspects of different cultures to the public. I support this organization and hope to always be a part of it whether I am a dancer or member or just supporter.
