Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Education

Mission: The IAMA organization is established for charitable and educational purposes, for assisting students in the field of medicine financially and for providing healthcare assistance to needy Iranians. To achieve the above goals all Iranians and Iranian descents in the medical field in the US should unite and at the same time support each other and have a powerful voice. To run this organization in the most democratic way, the state chapters and sections were established. In this way they are capable of managing their internal affairs independently from the IAMA central administration. Please refer to IAMA bylaws for more information. IAMA strives to establish Continuous Medical Education each year during the annual meeting and publishes the associated activities in the IAMA Bulletin to fulfill its’ educational obligation. The Public Awareness Seminars for Iranians here in the US is also sponsored by the Chapters and is aimed to discuss topics in variety of medical disciplines and at the same time to help in contributing in solving their medical, dental and other healthcare needs. IAMA continues to contribute to humanitarian and professional assistance especially after disasters in Iran and US. After the devastating earthquake in the City of BAM in southern Iran which took the lives of 28k people, IAMA pledged to build and run an advanced medical center to give free medical, dental care and counseling to the needy people in the area. IAMA is proud to announce the establishment of "IAMA Medical Center" in Bam City of Iran with the above mentioned efforts and with cooperation of Bam University Medical School. This center consists of a medical facility with a modern minor surgery room, counseling center and dental care. I have been a volunteer in IAMA for many years. I have witnessed nothing but dedication and sacrifice among members of this great organization. Whenever a natural disaster occurs the members donate their time and money to help victims of natural disasters. They also help younger Iranian professionals to stablish themselves in this wonderful country. I will continue to volunteer for IAMA and encourage all the Iranian Americans to get involve in the affairs of this great organization.

To be able to reach out to many members of this association and seek their advice has been a great experience for me. I have had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Omid Ashouri, the Southern California chapter president and he has been very helpful.

For the first time I heard about IAMA almost 17 years ago. As soon as I learned about the mission of IAMA and the genuine founders of this organization, I rolled up my sleeves and jumped on the wagon, since I believed in their mission and vision. I have witnessed and been involved in helping many young Iranian physicians to get establish in this wonderful country. IAMA has arranged many scientific trips to Iran helping different universities to start their liver transplant and pancreas transplant programs, as well as advanced laparoscopic techniques and ATLS courses and giving numerous lectures in oncology, immunology, .... to mention a few. Here IAMA holds annual scientific meetings which is a great venue for it’s members and also for networking. Fund raising in case of natural disaster has been the passion of this organization. I gave this organization my highest rank and encourage and invite all Iranian Americans who are in the field of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and all allied health professionals to join this wonderful organization.

What can I tell about IAMA?
IAMA is a professional, scientific, non-profit organization that in the past 26 years has strived to help and unit all the Iranian Medical doctors and students along with all other health care providers. It is the only Association that arranges high level educational activities and offers CME credits to the attendees and facilitates great professional networking and social gatherings.
IAMA's chapters in their State hold regular Public Health Awareness free conferences to enhance public health knowledge.
IAMA is also pioneer in arranging educational trips to Iran and have helped to start Liver and Pancreas transplant centers in Iran.
I have enjoyed being a member of this organization and encourage all people in medical field to join us .
