Mission: To provide high school girls with strong foundational knowledge of finance, investing and the financial services industries through tailored educational programs.
Programs: Invest in girls hosts four interactive financial education workshops with approximately 1600 students each year at westover, middlesex, milton academy, bryn mawr, madeira, foxcroft, miss porter, academy of mt saint ursaliline, chershire academy,st. Paul school for girls, madison park, girls inc lowell, lawerence high school, ywca cambridge gold, fenway highschool, excel charter high school, boston chinatown neighborhood center, epiphany school, codman academy, chapin-ny, de la salle academy, william cullen bryant high schoool, young women's leadership school, academy at palumbo, and seed school of maryland for a total of 12 workshops over the three years. Over the three years, girls learn the "b. I. G' concepts; budgeting, investing, and giving. The workshops incorporate financial simulations. Through online portal, girls are able to access workshop materials at any time.
invest in girls matches each girl with a compatible mentor working in the finance world. Mentors provide an introduction into finance careers and a deeper understanding of financial concepts. Mentors and girls call or skype monthly to discuss future education plans, potential internships, and various professional development topics.
invest in girls takes participants on industry trips to meet women in the finance field. The girls are able to experience what it is like to work in office setting along with asking questions to the women who work there. Trips are paid for by the businesses who sponsor them.
