Causes: International, International Exchange

Mission: To promote respect and understanding between the people of utah and other nations. Uccd serves as a nonprofit-sector partner with the u. S. Department of state's professional and cultural exchange programs, most notably the international visitor leadership program. Uccd arranges these professional and cultural programs for emerging leaders who visit the u. S. As guests of our government. Uccd is guided by the concept of "citizen diplomacy" - the idea that as citizens we have the right, even the responsibility, to help shape u. S. Foreign relations "one hand-shake at a time. "

Programs: International visitor leadership program the international visitor leadership program (ivlp) is administered by the u. S. Department of state, bureau of educational and cultural affairs, and is one of our nation's most important and respected public diplomacy initiatives. Each year, emerging leaders are invited to travel to the united states to meet with their professional counterparts and experience american life first-hand. Alumni of the program include over 60 acting heads of state. The utah council for citizen diplomacy is one of 86 non- partisan, community-based councils authorized to administer this program nationally, and the only organization in utah. In 2016 we welcomed nearly 400 international visitors to utah and prepared custom designed programs.

world affairs lecture series uccd presents the ambassador john price and marcia price world affairs lecture series. This series of six lectures addresses key foreign policy issues. Attendance averages 200 people per lecture, and the events are free and open to the public. The lectures are presented in partnership with westminster college.

young leaders of the americas initiative the young leaders of the american initiative (ylai) is a four-week exchange program which invites 10 english-speaking entrepreneurs from latin america and the caribbean to america to exchange best-practices, develop leadership skills, and network with similar businessess. The exchange is funded by the department of state.
