From age 12 to age 20 I was an active member of my local assembly, and since then I have continued to support Rainbow as a "majority" member and adult supervisor. Being a part of this organization has impacted every aspect of my life for the better. I learned so many wonderful lessons and skills that have stayed with me and have made my life both easier and better. I learned how to think for myself, and how to speak confidently in front of a large group of people. I learned how to memorize and give both my own speeches and those provided for me. I learned how to run meetings, how to fund raise and how to plan events. Probably most importantly, I learned that I was loved, that I was worth loving, and what it looks like to love a stranger. Growing up in that environment can have a tremendous impact on someone's life, and it certainly did for me! Oh, and it was and is tons of fun, and a place where girls can and most likely will make life long friends! :-)
This is a great program for young girls looking for something to do in their free time. There are all sorts of members, from the extreme go-to-all-the-events girls to the milder members who only go on special occasions. It's an easy way to add some friends and laughter to your life while learning about yourself and the things that make a difference in the long run. I am glad to be a member, and while it is a commitment to join, there are events that you can go to first and see if this is something for you. Wonderful :)
This wonderful organization gave me so many amazing opportunities, experiences, and friendships. It helped me build organization skills, leadership skills, and have me the opportunity to do amazing service projects. Rainbow gave me confidence, lifelong friendships, and skills to be a stronger speaker and leader. I gained so much from this wonderful organization and it helped mold me into the person that I am today.
My Daughter joined "Rainbow" at the age of 11. From the time she was 5 years old, she watched our neighbor girl go off in her beautiful gowns, and began to ask about the dresses and what April was doing. April explained "Rainbow" and had my Daughter hooked. After 6 years of constant requests, she joined "Rainbow". Not your normal initiation, Chelsea joined at the California Grand Assembly, our annual convention. It was so amazing and I had so much fun, that I was hooked too. We went head first, never stopping until she was 20 years old and aged out. During her years, Chelsea learn so many life lessons, that she would not have learned otherwise. They teach everything from how to love and care about other to public speaking, calendering, planning and much, much more. On top of all of this, you make lifelong friends that you call sisters. Chelsea was married in June 2013, and all of her bridesmaids were her "Rainbow" sisters. They are a very important part of our lives. Sure you can make friends in school and throughout your live, but you will never experience such a deep, connection with others sharing your same moral values as you get from this wonderful organization. Every girl is loved and welcomed, no matter what walk of life they are from. I cannot say enough about this group of people. I absolutely love them and am thankful for them, everyday!
A positive group of girls . Life time of memories and friends. My daughter just joined and is following 7 generations of her family of being a rainbow girl. She has been waiting to join ever since my 15 year reunion as a Grand Officer. She just joined on Tuesday the San Fernando Assembly. I have made life time friends and I know that my daughter will as well. It is a great experience and a positive one as well. Looking forward to the many memories she will endure as I did.
We have been a part of this great organization for 6 months. My daughter is in 6th grade and has really enjoyed the activities, friendships and service to the community. The organization promotes wholesome values that are difficult to find in today's busy world. I would highly recommend this group to any girl between the ages of 11 and 20. It is a place where girls can really feel free to be themselves in a loving and non judgmental atmosphere. The Mother Advisor and all of the wonderful parent volunteers are amazing and work very hard to create fun and exciting events for the girls. 2 thumbs up!
San Fernando Assembly and the International Order of Rainbow for Girls, the parent organization of this local group, are both outstanding charitable and service organizations that also teach girls confidence, leadership skills, and provides a social outlet as well. We have visited with members on several occasions, and they are the most welcoming, friendly, and accepting group of people you would ever meet. It is a lifelong sisterhood that truly accomplishes what they set out to do when they said "Rainbow Gets Girls Ready for Life."
My daughter joined the Rainbow Girls a few months back. I cannot describe how happy she is to take part in this wonderful group and organization. Being a giving person and influencing though kindness, taking action by volunteering and supporting good causes, learning life skill such as public speaking and deepening friendships, are just a few of what Rainbow Girls is all about.
My daughter has been involved for about six months now and is having a great time. She has met some amazing girls and their families. I feel it is important to help out your community and people in need, but had a hard time getting that through to my kids. Through Rainbow that message is loud and clear. It is so nice to see her thrive with people she enjoys while helping our community and others.
I am a Past Worthy Advisor for San Fernando Assembly back in 1989. I was a member from 1987-1990, and it was a great experience. Learning to help others in your community, being of service as it shapes you as a young woman are such important tools, and Rainbow teaches that. My only regret was not joining when I was much younger, as I could've become a Grand Officer later on. Inspite of that, I learned so much, and I am also proud to say that I was also the first Armenian Worthy Advisor ever for that assembly. In the past two decades from leaving Rainbow, I was rather shocked at how many assemblies are no longer around. Even so, Rainbow keeps going, and is slowly growing again and gaining momentum. I come from a long line of Masonic-affiliated family members, and had I had a daughter, I would've definitely had her join Rainbow. Sincerely, Denise T. Dardarian, PWA
My daughter is a member of this fine group. She is learning leadership and making what I believe will become life long friends. My son is involved too as he is with DeMolay. He has gained many "Sisters" and enjoys the events as much as his sister does. Involvement is up to them as I will not force them to do anything like this that they do not want to do. They both love their own and each others group. From the service work to the events. I believe they will be a part of this for decades to come. Thank you to all who are helping out and making this special for them.
I have had the pleasure of being a part of this group for over 25 years. I have not found another group so caring and nurturing than the International order of the Rainbow for Girls. My daughter joined when she was 11 years old, she has friends that are like sisters that she meet through this group. This is a second family who is there for you like none other! The girls become lady's, learn how to give back to life and their community, all while having fun and building their lives for any parent to be proud of. don't miss the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful organization ! I as one loved and still do love to volunteer and
take part in the lives of these young lady's. I was one of the advisor's for this group for over 15 years, but now live in Oregon. I travel at least 3 times a years to see the friends I made and watch my daughter who is now an adult give her time to these life long friends and be a leader for the greater good of all involved.
Rainbow changed my life. I was in this group from age 18-21 and learned some of the best life lessons and leadership skills you could imagine. I wish I'd started younger. Made friendships that last a lifetime! Wonderful group for teen girls!
