Nonprofit Overview
Mission: The World Mission Youth Orchestra is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to engage, educate, increase musical knowledge and foster music awareness within the Washington DC region. We are actively creating symphony orchestras, concert groups and ensembles of young musicians residing in the DC Metropolitan Area. WMYO’s vision for young musicians is to create a learning environment of quality music knowledge. Through the program, student’s musical skills and talents and their walk with Christ will grow. We actively engage in Outreach Programs for those students that do not have the opportunity to go see an orchestra performance or for those students that have the willingness to learn, but financial they are unable. The Outreach Program performs in places where music is isolated, and where it is rare to hear an orchestra perform. The WMYO sponsors mission trips every summer to those places where music is inaccessible to the children. We form teams of young musicians every summer to go to different regions of the world to share the gospel through music. In addition to the music, we give the opportunity to those children to Christ through summer bible studies. Lastly, we aspire to open a music school to create opportunities where children can learn to play instruments.
