I’m incredibly grateful to the International Institute of Los Angeles (IILA) for the support they provided through the TSE (Transitional Subsidized Employment) program, especially during such a critical time in my life. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I lost my job like so many others and was facing an uncertain future. I didn’t know what direction to go in, and I felt stuck.

That all changed when I was fortunate enough to join the TSE program at IILA. The staff not only offered practical resources but also genuine encouragement that helped me believe in myself again. The program gave me the opportunity to break into a new line of work—something I never imagined I could do. It opened doors I didn’t even know existed.

Thanks to the experience and confidence I gained during the program, I was later able to secure a job with IILA itself. Working for an organization that once helped me get back on my feet has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. It gave me the chance to give back and support others on similar paths.

Now, a few years later, I’ve even returned to school to further my education and continue building the career I rediscovered through IILA’s help. The TSE program didn’t just help me find a job—it helped me find a new purpose. It gave me the stability I needed to support my family and rebuild after one of the hardest periods of my life.

Thank you, IILA, for being a light during dark times. Your work truly changes lives. A.Santos-Tellez
