Interfaith Caregivers Program

Programs: Transportation services - interfaith caregivers program volunteers assist primarily the elderly population of summit county with maintaining their independence in the community by providing transportation to essential non-emergency medical appointments, grocery shopping and running essential errands such as picking up medication. Without this transportation service many of our elderly care recipients would not be able to keep their medical appointments and purchase groceries reducing their level of health and quality of life. As the aging population continues to increase the need for transportation services offered by the program will only continue to rise. In 2014 our volunteers provided over 1,195 units of transportation services. What is unique about the services provided by interfaith caregivers program is that our volunteers provide door-to-door service, wait for the care recipient at the medical appointments, assist with the grocery shopping and carry the groceries inside the care recipient's home.

friendly visit program - this program helps seniors feel less isolated in their own homes. Services included in the friendly visit program include respite for the primary caregiver decreasing caregiver stress within the family unit, light household chores, yard chores, minor household repairs, telephone reassurance or just visiting with someone who is isolated. The people we serve, primarily the elderly population, too often fall through the cracks from receiving services from other agencies. The interfaith caregivers program does not have prerequisites for service as there are not any age or income restrictions. In 2014 volunteers provided 2,416 units of service to care recipients through the friendly visit program.
