Programs: Ic 21 assumed the central leadership role in organizing the 9th annual teton county model un conference (tcmun), which was partially funded by grants from the community foundation of jh and wy humanities council. The conference took place at jh high school (jhhs) on november 17-18, 2014 with 210 student delegates from 11 wyoming and idaho high schools. Utilizing skills gleaned at prior tcmun conferences and a training workshop in august 2014, 11 additional students contributed in a leadership capacity, guiding their peers through the model un process. The tcmun '14 keynote speaker, gregory khalil, president and co-founder of the telos group in washington dc, spoke at the tcmun opening ceremony at the center for the arts.
ic-21 sponsored the participation of 20 local high school students from jhhs, jh community school, and journeys school in the national washington area model united nations conference (an advanced conference) from march 18-22. The conference was held at george washington university. From november until the third week in march, students met with their model un trainers every week to prepare to debate as either countries or historical figures. in february 2015, ic 21 sponsored the visit of tracy kidder, a publitzer prize and national book award winning author. Kidder's presentation was about "global connections of the heart" and his lecture focused around his ny times bestseller, strength in what remains. He also touched on mountains beyond mountains, his biography of paul farmer, partners in health co-founder and global helath activist.
