Opperman institute of judicial administration (ija) was founded at new york university law school in 1952 and was one of the first organizations committed to improving the administration of justice in the federal and state courts. Because of its reputation in the legal community and its relationships with federal and state judges throughout the country, the institute offered an unrivaled opportunity for dialogue between policy makers, judges, and academics.
