As a principal dedicated to enriching the educational experiences of our students, I recently had the privilege of visiting the Holocaust and African American Museum, and I cannot overstate the profound impact it had on me personally and professionally. A special THANK YOU to inSIGHT for this incredible journey and experience.

From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was greeted with a sense of reverence and importance that resonated throughout the entire experience. The meticulous curation of exhibits, artifacts, and interactive displays painted a vivid picture of the struggles, resilience, and triumphs of two communities deeply impacted by injustice and adversity.

The Holocaust exhibit transported me back in time, offering a poignant reminder of the atrocities committed against millions of innocent lives. Through haunting photographs, personal testimonies, and historical accounts, I gained a deeper understanding of the human capacity for both cruelty and courage. It was a stark reminder of the importance of compassion, tolerance, and the preservation of human dignity.

Equally moving was the journey through the African American Museum section, which beautifully chronicled the rich tapestry of African American history and culture. From the legacy of slavery and segregation to the monumental achievements of African Americans in art, science, and politics, each exhibit spoke volumes about resilience, determination, and the unyielding pursuit of equality.

What struck me most was the seamless integration of these narratives into a cohesive tapestry of shared human experience. The museums not only honored the struggles and triumphs of each community but also underscored the interconnectedness of our histories and the collective responsibility we bear in shaping a more just and equitable future.

As an educator, this experience has profoundly influenced my approach to fostering empathy, understanding, and inclusivity among our students. It reinforced the importance of providing opportunities for our youth to engage with history in a meaningful and impactful way, empowering them to become informed global citizens committed to combating prejudice and discrimination.

I commend the dedicated staff and organizers who have meticulously curated these invaluable resources for educators and students alike. This visit was not merely an educational outing; it was a transformative journey that will undoubtedly shape the way I lead and inspire our school community.

I highly recommend a visit to the Holocaust and African American Museum to principals and educators seeking to instill empathy, understanding, and a deep appreciation for diversity in their students. It is an experience that will leave an indelible mark on hearts and minds, fostering a commitment to justice, equality, and human dignity that will resonate far beyond the walls of the museum.

They are passionate about educating students, faculty and principals about the Holocaust to end hate in our schools and communities. Their unwavering committment to education is one of the main reasons why Palm Beach County Schools has strong Holocaust and Genocide programs.

inSIGHT Through Education is phenomenal! This nonprofit provided myself and fellow administrators an extremely educational and transformative experience. We traveled to Washington DC, toured the African American and Holocaust museum and engaged in meaningful discussions regarding our impact and how we can further educate the teachers and students we serve. This trip was especially powerful because we traveled with two Holocaust survivors who graciously shared their testimonials.

Insight Through Education,

I am writing to extend my heartfelt gratitude for providing me with the best professional development opportunity I have had thus far. The opportunity to tour the African American and Holocaust museums in Washington, DC, along with elementary and secondary administrators from Palm Beach County was an experience I will never forget. The experience was profoundly impactful and transformative, and I am deeply thankful for being included. I am thankful for you and the opportunity that was provided to me.

Traveling with Holocaust survivors Mary and Rosette added an invaluable dimension to the trip. Listening to their stories of strength, perseverance, determination, and survival was both humbling and inspiring. Their willingness to share such personal and poignant experiences allowed for a deep level of learning, emotion, and reflection throughout those three days.

This experience has reinforced the vital message that "Never again begins with YOU." It has underscored the importance of our actions and the enduring impact they have. As educators and leaders, it is essential that we remember and impart this lesson, ensuring that such atrocities are never repeated.

Thank you once again for this exceptional opportunity. It has left a lasting impression on me, and I am eager to apply the insights and reflections gained from this experience in my professional journey.

With sincere appreciation,
Kristin Menschel

Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in an educational trip to Washington, D.C., courtesy of the Insight through Education grant. This grant was instrumental in expanding my knowledge and understanding of African American and Holocaust education, providing me with a profoundly enriching experience.

While at the National Museum of African American History and Culture, I walked through vivid exhibits illustrating the struggles, achievements, and contributions of African Americans throughout history. From the powerful artifacts to the engaging narratives, every corner of the museum resonated with profound historical significance.

Equally impactful was our exploration of Holocaust education at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. The museum's exhibits offered a sobering reminder of the atrocities committed during one of humanity's darkest periods. Walking through the halls lined with personal testimonies and historical accounts, I gained a deeper appreciation for the resilience of the human spirit and the importance of remembrance.

The grant facilitated access to these museums and encouraged meaningful discussions among participants. Engaging with other educators and fellow learners enriched the experience, allowing us to exchange insights and reflections on the complexities of history and its relevance today.

Overall, the Insight through Education trip to Washington, D.C., was a transformative experience. It broadened my perspective, deepened my understanding of African American and Holocaust education, and inspired a commitment to continued learning and advocacy. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to have participated in this enlightening journey, made possible by the generous support of the grant.

I highly recommend this program to anyone passionate about history, education, and fostering a more inclusive society. It is a profound reminder of the power of education to shape our perceptions and influence positive change.

I just got back from a educational trip to DC with PBC Schools. As an administrator, I THOUGHT I knew everything I needed to know in order to best teach and show our students what they needed to know and SHOULD understand about the Holocaust and African American studies. After our visit to the African/African American and the Holocaust museums, I realized it was so much more. inSight played a huge role in the success of our trip (planning, tours, food, fun AND support throughout our trip). This trip has forever changed me in MANY ways. I have already come back to school and began working on implementation of several things for next school year and beyond. I cannot wait to share this with my staff , students, and families. I hope to be able to travel with inSight again. I did not have to worry about a thing from beginning to end. Beyond grateful.

My recent trip to Washington D.C. with fellow school principals and administrators from Palm Beach County, organized by Insight, was nothing short of transformative. Our visit included tours of the African American History Museum and the Holocaust Museum, two institutions that profoundly illustrate the resilience and strength of the human spirit.

At the African American History Museum, we journeyed through centuries of history, culture, and contributions made by African Americans. The exhibits were meticulously curated, offering both depth and breadth of information. Each artifact and story provided a powerful reminder of the enduring struggle for equality and justice.

The Holocaust Museum was equally moving. Walking through its somber halls, we were confronted with the harrowing realities of this dark chapter in history. The personal stories, photographs, and artifacts presented a stark and poignant reminder of the atrocities that occurred.

A particularly impactful part of our visit was listening to the testimonies of two survivors. Their firsthand accounts of resilience, courage, and survival added a deeply personal dimension to our understanding of these historical events. Hearing their stories was a privilege and a humbling experience.

Insight's organization and attention to detail ensured that our trip was educational, enlightening, and profoundly moving. This experience has undoubtedly enriched our perspectives as educators and administrators, reinforcing the importance of teaching history with empathy and accuracy.

I highly recommend Insight for any educational trip. This journey was an unforgettable opportunity to connect with the past and draw inspiration for the future.
