I began volunteering with Inshuti of Rwanda this year because of my longtime interest in Rwanda and passion for housing as a human right. As a nonprofit management professional, I can't speak highly enough of the team. The model is focused on sustainability both in its operational model and environmentally.

The model focuses on building homes for genocide survivors and women/families. They use local sustainable materials, provide jobs for community members through their work, and have community groups to help house recipients build confidence and connections too. What sets Inshuti of Rwanda apart is their holistic and inclusive approach. By employing local community members in their construction projects, they not only create job opportunities but also ensure that the skills and resources remain within the community. The environmentally sustainable practices they employ are a testament to their forward-thinking vision. Using local materials reduces the carbon footprint, and the design of the homes is tailored to the specific needs and conditions of the region, ensuring longevity and comfort.

As someone deeply involved in nonprofit management, I am particularly impressed by Inshuti of Rwanda's transparency and effectiveness in utilizing resources. Their dedication to maximizing impact with every dollar spent is evident in the tangible improvements in the lives of the beneficiaries.

Inshuti of Rwanda exemplifies what a compassionate and well-managed nonprofit should be. Their work is not just about building houses; it's about building hope, community, and a sustainable future. I am honored to be a part of this incredible organization and look forward to seeing the continued positive impact they will undoubtedly have on the lives of many more Rwandans.

Inshuti is a small NGO making an important impact on a highly localised level in Rubavu district. They are highly transparent and make a point of working as closely with local government and local officials as possible. All paid staff are local to the areas in which the NGO works, whilst there is a global team working on a voluntary basis. Regarding 'cost-benefit', each house costs around $3000 and has a transformative impact, often on several generations of a family. A part of that $3000 goes to providing employment for local masons and workers, thus providing a valuable boost to local economies. The highly localised focus also enables the organisation to have maximum impact. In terms of governance, the organisation is compliant with legislation surrounding NGO's in the US state of Vermont and has a broad range of policies and procedures in place that one might expect from a much larger NGO, demonstrating the commitment to good governance and best practice as regards international humanitarian organisations. The organisation also works hard to be highly compliant with local legislation and has brought in individuals with legal and accountancy expertise in the local context.

Inshuti may be a small organization, but that doesn't deter from its excellence. Inshuti has a clear objective and a proven track record of combatting poverty and homelessness in Rwanda by providing homes (and accompanying amenities) to Rwandan families. Inshuti, its employees, volunteers, and interns work diligently together to provide for the people of Rwanda. Perhaps because of its size, the organization makes particularly effective use of its resources, such as its newsletter, in securing funding and performing outreach. Inshuti has been on an upward trajectory since its inception, and as far as I am concerned, I see no reason why it won't continue its exponential growth.

I recently started an internship with Inshuti of Rwanda. I was already excited to work with them because of their mission to promote safe, stable, and sanitary housing for families in Rwanda. However, my experience so far has solidified this excitement due to the dedication and passion of all its members to create lasting and sustainable change in the community, even beyond housing. I can firmly say that Inshuti of Rwanda is a non-profit organization that truly cares about the well-being of the Rwandan people; Inshuti is truly rooted in the local community, spreading goodwill around the world and then collecting goodwill from all over the globe to provide shelter and necessities for those in need. From what I've seen and been a part of, Inshuti's programs are solid, and if goodwill is common, the care and dedication Inshuti puts into planning to ensure that it is maximized is definitely not. every house Inshuti builds is a testament to the families and local laborers who are being helped, and I think providing them with funds is the most rewarding thing in the world.

I have been working as a digital media intern at this organisation, and the experience of getting involved in Inshuti's community and development has been truly invaluable. During my journey of fighting depression, seeing Inshuti’s house recipients and kids in the community enjoy living gave me a new perspective on life. Inshuti of Rwanda has everything I look for when evaluating if I want to support an organization. Sustainable practices, an incredible mission that guides all of their work, and a large majority of donations dedicated directly towards the cause. By employing locals in the community and using materials that are either naturally in the Rwandan environment or made by Rwandan companies, Inshuti's process uplifts the economy of Rwanda at every step. From my first day interacting with this organization, I could see that the belief in housing as a universal human right closely guides everything that the organization does, giving them the ability to make a high impact in their community rather than being spread too thin across different goals. I have been a donor to Inshuti of Rwanda since 2014 when one small house was built for a genocide survivor and her family living in deplorable conditions. This year I am proud to say I am the new Treasurer of Inshuti of Rwanda. I have observed with pride the growth Inshuti has experienced. In 2016 it became and official 501(c) non-profit organization. This year, even with Covid complications, nearly $44,000 was raised and fifteen houses were constructed. Since the beginning, Inshuti of Rwanda under Rosa"s direction, has grown into an extremely productive small non-profit organization which is both cost efficient and fiscally responsible. Rosa and her team put their heart and soul into this extremely worthwhile organization.
The impoverished families selected go through a rigorous screening. Most have next to nothing and little hope for the future. Upon moving into their new homes, the joy and gratitude displayed is heart rendering. For the first time in their lives they have a solid roof over their head, a bed to sleep in and a chance for them and their children to survive with dignity. The great pride they take in their new homes carries over into the Inshuti community in so many ways. For the first time these poor misfortunate people now have hope for the future.

I have been donating to Inshuti of Rwanda since it started because I believe in the love that brought it into being. Rosa and her team put their hearts and souls into this organization that builds homes for families that have nothing. A home will provide safety, security and comfort that so many others in our world take for granted. The children in families reap the benefits of their mothers and/or fathers feeling stable and able to support their families.
Inshuti’s website is updated regularly with facts and figures, but more importantly photos of the team with the families and stories of success.
I love that local labor and products are utilized to strengthen the local economy. It also builds “community “! Everyone is benefiting!
I plan on continuing my donations as long as I am on this earth. I’m beginning a campaign to build a home in memory of my recently deceased husband. I can think of no greater memorial than a family having a home as home was dear in his heart.
Blessings to all involved.

I am happy to donate to a non-profit like Inshuti knowing my donation is going directly to families in need with little administrative costs (5%). Over the years, Inshuti has shown continued growth and stability. Rosa continuously updates the website showing the families who have received their new house along with prospective new families for the next year's build. It's heart wrenching to see the deplorable living conditions but rewarding to see the smiles on the faces of the families standing in front of their new home. As the founder and executive director of Inshuti of Rwanda, I am really proud to share the work we are doing. Inshuti builds houses for impoverished families living in deplorable conditions due to a lack of resources. We also provide local jobs and livable wages to our masons and workers. Our houses are built with local, often sustainable materials which helps boost the Rwandan economy.

We believe housing is a human right. Everyone deserves refuge from the elements and to raise their children in a safe environment. It is our vision that once the fundamental need for shelter is met, the families who dwell in these homes will have the opportunity to start building their own, independent lives.

Inshuti of Rwanda is a big part of my life and the families that we help are now a part of my extended family. What we do makes an insurmountable difference to our house recipients and their lives are forever changed because of it. It is what drives me to continue this work. I have high hopes and great ambition to continue growing Inshuti, thus build more houses per year, helping more families, and support our community in Rwanda.

I have four children and I am in the trenches of diapers, laundry and youth sports. Donating to Inshuti of Rwanda has broadened our little world into something much bigger. Seeing the lives that are changed, whether on Facebook or Inshuti's website, through Rosa's beautiful photography, brings the stories to life. My older children are fascinated with the picture slideshows that show the progression of the homebuilding. Rosa captures each phase, but more importantly the expressions and emotions of the families. They love reading the subtitles and knowing everybody's names. My husband is a construction worker, so we especially appreciated the picture of one man throwing bricks over the wall to the next worker! The stories are detailed and personal and moving. Rosa sent a personal follow-up letter in the mail thanking us and telling the story of Hassan's house (he was one of the masons for Inshuti's first home and others thereafter). We feel blessed to contribute to such a great cause through a solid organization.

I have followed Inshuti of Rwanda's growth from 2014 building only a few homes to this year where 10 impoverished families received new homes. What is unique about Inshuti is their ability to screen potential families for their new "build" each year. Inshuti is very selective as to which families will receive their new home. Inshuti has certain criteria that needs to be met before a new home is considered and approved for each family. I know for a fact, 95% of the donations goes directly to the building projects. All the materials and labor are locally sourced whereby bringing money back to the community. After a home is completed, the family takes pride in it's upkeep and realizes how lucky they were to be chosen by Inshuti of Rwanda. This is why I donate year-after-year to Inshuti because I know their organization is honest, dedicated and passionate about the Rwandans.
The picture is a "Thank You" picture for the donation made for building one home for this family.

I have watched this wonderful organization grow from an idea to one that has sustained and enabled families in this small Rwandan village. Funds contributed go for materials and local labor to build strong homes. The first year, there were two homes...then each year the number grew. Too often, we regard problems as too big to solve, too big for our contributions to make a difference. Inshuti simply gets to work....one house at a time. I am proud to support such a fine non-profit.

I meet Rosa and she explain me her project. I have been in Rwanda myself and found her idea wonderfull! This is a very concrete and useful help that she crest with Inshuti of Rwanda. I saw her working on the project while she was on holiday herself. She is full of energy and share it with people who need it. I could only help her by donate for the moment but if I have the chance, I would love to go and help on the field!
