Fantastic non-profit whose mission aligns with my own personal values and goals. Thank you so much for doing what you do!
This organization is not only helping my friends who are Senior Citizens, Veterans, or both-- now they are going to be driving their initiatives toward the immigrants and refugees in this Great State of Maine! This is incredibly exciting and I really hope that more Mainers recognize the opportunity presented by Information Technology Exchange.
I'm a founder of this organization and worked very hard to help thousands of Maine residents access to technology. I would encourage everyone to utilize this program and take advantage of the computer literacy training videos.
ITE helped me get a couple of computers at a reasonable rate that worked great for my children going through school they did everything they needed them to do and more!
Excellent customer service and fantastic equipment. I've had my gaming machine they built me for years and it's still going strong.
Incredible team! Our clients love us. ITE works for the customer, always doing what's right not what's profitable.
Someone I know walked in there with a $600 Samsung notebook/tab 12.2 that wasn't charging. They sold her a phone charger for this powerful tablet and when it didn't work, told her the computer was junk and would she like to leave it with them and they would credit the $10 they overcharged her, in my opinion, for the charger and would get her a Kindle for $100. They never looked at the notebook or gave it to their repairman for a look over. She sent the notebook to me. I'm in SC and within a day determined it needed a new rapid charger that would work with that particular notebook. If they knew anything about notebooks and tablets, they would know they draw more amps and a simple phone charger and cord, just won't work. They could have at least let the repair person look at it. I wouldn't take a broken child's toy there for new batteries. What amazes me the most is that they offered to recycle it for her! Good scam you got going there. This can be posted in other places like the BBB. Very unprofessional! VERY. Watch out if they tell you it's internally shot. Get a second opinion!
Hello, Ida_2! First, thank you for taking the time to find us on GreatNonprofits. I am so glad that the customer now has a working tablet. Our goal is for everyone, of any age, to have the tools they need to accomplish their tasks- at affordable prices. I would like to address your review and your concerns. I do remember this tablet clearly, as well as the issues. We do our diagnostics out front, with the customer, so they are comfortable with decisions and suggestions. The tablet was looked at by two technicians. After attempting factory resets and data cache clears the tablet was still not turning on. We then moved to examining the charger and the port. When it was plugged in with a powerful charger, the charging light indicated it worked. While we didn't have any of the cables in stock, we ordered one (the $10 cable you referenced). When this choice was made, we let the customer know that there was a chance the cable would not work because of the visible damage within the charging port. Alas, when the cable did arrive, the screen lit up, flickered, and then showed an error screen that signified not only a charging problem, but a graphics problem. We upfront offered to refund the cable and, in addition to that, take a look at the tablet. We also, upfront, let her know that to open up a tablet and check the hardware would be a high cost- higher than the cost of a replacement tablet, Kindle, or iPad 2 (especially if the investigation turned up nothing "good"). This is when the customer decided to go home and send it to a relative with experience in the field. I am sorry that you think we overcharged for the cable and attempted to take advantage. That is not, ever, in how we do things. We will take your review and apply it to our work so that (in the future) no one feels this way when they leave.
What a great program for helping low-income individuals and other Non-Profits! And it has that small town feel helping with educating around "what you need to know about your technology". Great group of people.
I worked for a Non-Profit that needed a Network tech to make all of our technology(computers, printers, scanners, etc.) to work together because we didn't have the expertise. ITE worked with us to accomplish what we needed and showed us how to maintain what we were using at a reasonable price.
