Mission: To enrich the lives of children and families in tuolumne and mariposa counties by providing direct services to families, educating the community about child care and child development as well as advocating for the increased quality and availability of child care.
Programs: Alternative payment programs - funded by the california department of education and the department of social services, the program subsidizes child care for low income families so that parents can work, pursue job training and education or find employment. Served 260 families and 420 children.
resource & referral programs - primarily funded by the california department of education. Information and referral service for parents and child care providers in tuolumne & mariposa counties as well as information and collaboration with community partners including the local child care planning council, first 5, and other family service agencies, serving an estimated 1,268 individuals. There were 383 requests for child care referrals and 1,577 calls for other information. The program provided training, recruitment and support for appoximately 106 licensed and exempt child care providers and 112 child care center staff.
raising healthy families - funded by county and first 5 funds. Conducts free parenting classes and provides in-home support and education for parents seeking alternative ways of disciplining their children. Served 119 parents in parenting classes and 75 parents in in-home support. Facilitated parent leadership training and support for 28 parents.
