Causes: Philanthropy
Mission: To support the charitable, educational and other exempt purposes of the Indiana United Methodist Children's Home. Our mission is to enrich the quality of life for children and families through Christian values. Our vision is to be a place where youth are safe and cared for; where youth are given the opportunity to become healthy and self-sufficient adults; where families are reunited; and where every person is treated with love and respect.
Results: Located in Boone County, the Children’s Home provides residential treatment for Indiana’s abused and neglected children. Sadly, our service is needed now more than ever. Our Home is helping Indiana youth in crisis find stability and an independent way forward. We are breaking the cycle of abuse with our proven trauma informed plan of care. We’ve been giving hope and loving care to children in crisis for 105 years.
Programs: Today our Home is a modern 24/7 state-of-the-art treatment program. Our 17 acre property looks like a small college campus, with an accredited middle and high school, chaple and six beautiful family-style homes. We serve children between the ages of 14 and 19 placed in our care by the Indiana Department of Child Services and county courts. Our healing care for teens focusses first on helping the youth feel safe, and then on five areas: 1) therapeutic counseling, 2) spiritual development, 3) individualized academic education, 4) social and behavioral skills through our acclaimed Teaching Family Model, and 4) independent living skills through our new Adult Prep 101 program curriculum.
