Mission: Indiana organ procurement organization d. B. A. Indiana donor network is a nonprofit healthcare service provider operating by designation under section 371 of the u. S. Public health services act and qualifies as an organ procurement organization as defined by the national organ transplant act. Our mission supports the donation of life-saving organs and tissues from medically suitable patients in indiana hospitals. Indiana donor network provides donation services to hospitals located in 85 of indiana's 92 counties. We cooperate with these hospitals by providing a variety of services including, education about federal and accrediting body requirements to support donation within the hospital, training hospital nursing, physician, chaplain and/or social work staff about the clinical and human aspects of the donation process, and helping the hospital support donation within their communities. Programs: In 2017, indiana organ procurement organization d. B. A. Indiana donor network facilitated 165 organ donors resulting in 620 organs transplanted. (the organs transplanted do not represent the total number of people who received a transplant because some patients receive more than one organ. ) we also facilitated 1,185 tissue donors. Indiana donor networks driven 2 save lives campaign reached 413 million people via media outreach, 5. 7 million people via paid media, 10,019 unique visitors to driven2savelives. Org, nearly 49,000 interactions on social media and registered 908 new organ, eye and tissue donors. In other activities, an additional 866,124 people were reached via mass media at sponsorship events by utilizing public service announcements and video board messaging. In addition, the organizations website had nearly 104,000 unique visitors searching for information about donation and transplantation. Trained volunteers contributed more than 6,000 hours of service, sharing our key message points with 24,000 adults and 11,494 youth throughout the state at community and school events. Public outreach efforts have contributed to more than 3. 80 million registered donors in indiana as of the end of 2017.
