Mission: To enhance the effectiveness and accountability of state and local government through education of: public sector,business and labor leaders on significant fiscal policy issues and the consequences of state and local decisions.
Programs: The indiana fiscal policy institute provides non-partisan research on indiana's budget and fiscal issues. For the fiscal year ending june 30, 2017, the ifpi issued four major reports. Considering sales taxation of services in indiana focusing on future state revenue streams, indiana's public pensions focusing on indiana's public pension obligations and funding levels and funding indiana's roads for a stronger, safer tomorrow focusing on the needs for transportation infrastructure. Reports were provided on both the potential and the methods used in indiana's revenue forecast and four monthly reports on fiscal issues. Ifpi apprised its members of tax and fiscal policy changes through a newsletter and through its website. At regular intervals during the year, the ifpi also reported information about the state's fiscal policies through regular columns and news articles published throughout the state.
