They don't disclose until it is too late, that if you have had any lapse in vet care you will not be able to adopt. The foster led us on, knowing of a lapse (that we found on our own in our extra research) in our own care of our current cat, and that we were taking care of it immediately (found out Thursday at 6pm and she was at the vet Friday at 945am). She then turned us down for that very reason AFTER bothering our reference knowing he was on vacation and that she would deny us anyway. They do not have this as written policy and admit that, but will make NO exception and expect that you should know (how???). They made me feel like a horrible cat mom and left me devastated after I had prepared a room for the new cat and prepared everything we needed because they had seemed so hopeful and encouraging up to the point of denial. We will continue to go to SPCA and pet stores in search of our next baby girl and don't recommend IAR at all if you still want to feel good about yourself at the end of the process when you are left with nothing but a broken heart and bags of toys to return. I wish I did my research before falling in love and if I had, I would have seen many similar reviews leading to the same outcome... I would have thought twice and hope that others do. Now, I am going to go love on my very healthy and up-to-date cat who I am evidently unfit to care for.
