Causes: Ethnic & Immigrant Centers, Human Services, Immigration
Mission: The organization strives to address the academic and personal challenges confronting our immigrant children by providing targeted support and enrichment services as a way to maximize their potential in school and beyond. Ifsi-usa works to improve access to social services for immigrant families. In response to recent events, ifsi-usa supports those affected by changes in immigration legislation, including temporary protective status.
Programs: Summer academic and enrichment program for students entering grades k -12. Academic support to prepare students for upcoming school year. Individualized learning plans with classroom and individual support is provided for students in grades k-6. Curricula covers math, english language arts and stem (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). Afternoon enrichment includes musical instrument instruction, musical ensemble practices, art, chorus and sports. Comprehensive stem program for students in grades 6-8. Youth leadership opportunities for highs school students include serving as classroom assistants, tutors and music teachers.
after-school and weekend academic and enrichment program for students in grades k through 12. Daily tutoring for homework help and skill development to bridge the gap between current school curriculum and native country school curriculum monday through fridays 3pm to 6pm and saturdays from 2pm to 5pm. Weekly musical instrument lessons and saturday ensemble practices. Weekend standardized testing practice and tutoring for students in grades 5-12.
community education through weekly radio programs, workshops and individual counseling. The organization hosts a weekly radio program to disseminate information about public health, current events, and other relevant topics. The organization also presents a variety of workshops for parents and adults throughout the year. Topics include educational options and the college application process. In addition, ifsi works one on one with adults on job listings and applications.
advocacy programs for families adversely affected by the expiration of temporary protective status including legal aid to find alternative paths to citizenship and workshops on rights.
