Causes: Arts & Culture
Mission: At Ifi Heritage Center, a Florida-based 501c3/509a2 charitable nonprofit organization, we passionately aim to champion the vibrant cultures and communities in Wimauma and South Hillsborough. Ifi itself refers to a state of being or condition that embodies a sense of peace and tranquility. The phrase “Our Ifi is Strong” expresses a strong sense of unity and resilience among a group or Community. Our mission to uplift the underserved, underrepresented, and BIPOC (black, Indigenous, and people of color) and foster holistic community unity through educational programs, performing arts, and cultural exhibits is imperative, particularly in the rapidly changing and growing environment of Wimauma and South Hillsborough County.
Results: Ifi Heritage Center has initiated self-funded events, including three prior Rev. Dr. Martin L. King Jr. Celebrations highlighting authentic history and performing arts. We also hosted Wimauma's first Veterans Day event at the historical Wimauma Air Strip, which was significant for its role in training British airmen during World War II. In our partnership with local middle schools, we have facilitated a hygiene package campaign, increasing contributions from 100 packs to 500 over two years. Through our “Rise the Ceiling” campaign, we support renovations for Mt. Moriah Mission Baptist Church, a historic community institution.
