Mission: ICAN's mission is to provide free, comprehensive programs that empower youth to be productive, self-confident, and responsible members of the community. ICAN is a free, family-centered youth service in the East Valley providing a full complement of programs proven effective in equipping youth to achieve personal and academic success by tackling substance abuse, gang involvement and juvenile delinquency. ICAN goes beyond being just an after-school program for at-risk youth. ICAN works with youth on the critical skills they need to be productive and responsible members of the community. 8 out of 10 young people in the areas we serve are living in extreme poverty. Four of those children will go to bed hungry at night and eight will be using drugs or alcohol to cope with the harsh realities they face. Joining gangs becomes a more viable choice than graduation in the community we serve. This is not an option for ICAN. We exist to combat these issues and build strong futures for them and for our community.

I have had the opportunity to work with the Staff at ICAN to provide wholesome programs and projects dedicated to improving community relations and supporting families. The attendance to the programs offered and the comments of appreciation from those attending speaks volumes for the enjoyment and need for these types of programs. Serving as a volunteer during one of the monthly projects is gratifying and provides an opportunity to interact with families and provide much needed resources.

I have volunteered at many places over the years, but ICAN is my favorite volunteering spot. The facility is beautiful and very clean, the activities for the kids are interactive with their peers, and the adults. The staff and other volunteers are all so helpful and kind, not just towards the children and their families, but to everyone around them. The opportunities offered to the children are invaluable and the children are all so excited to come and learn and interact at ICAN.

ICAN is such a great program that truly puts smile on every child's face and even their volunteers. Each teacher and employee works so hard to keep ICAN running efficiently as a united family. The services that they provide, opportunities they bring to the table, and sense of security that this institution brings to children and their families is invaluable. As a volunteer, I get excited about my shift because I can directly see the difference that volunteers make. Every single shift I walk away knowing that I spend my time at a program where their services and actions truly match their mission statement. I am proud to be part of the ICAN family.

When I first started to volunteer at ICan, I was unaware of what an impact it would have on me. ICan is more than an organization, it is a family. Throughout my time here, I have come to think of the children and my coworkers at ICan as an extended family, full of comfort, support, and laughter. You can always expect kind smiles from staff and children alike as soon as you walk through the entrance! ICan's positivity is not limited to the physical facility- in fact, it is spread throughout the community by our very own members who make this nonprofit organization worthwhile.

This is the first year I was able to volunteer for this organization and it was such a pleasure for me to help out.
ICAN provides services and resources to families that need help on all areas of a child's development and needs. It was fantastic to see the kids go through various educational activities that incorporate fun with learning. This program design gives all the kids an opportunity to be engaged and prepares them with experience they can use long after they leave school to lead productive lives. ICAN is such an important part of the Chandler community and I am grateful for getting the chance to help them this year and going forward!

This organization is truly an opportunity to volunteer for; the volunteers are treated well despite their not being paid. Appreciation programs are even incorporated with the staff in mind and teach "gratitude is the attitude". Of course, it's all about the kids, so every effort is made to ensure a safe and healthy and productive environment for at-risk youth with a vabriety of programs, ranging from arts and sciences of all sorts. I love being able to talk to the kids and play with them on the jungle gym then help them with homework and even share a meal with them (as a minor volunteer).

Ican is a great program where kids come after school and enjoy their time. There are many programs that ICAN kids can be part of while at attending ICAN which allows them to have fulfilling time. ICAN also has prevention programs to educate the children

I have volunteered at ICAN for about 10 years now. This is because of the results that I have observed in the children's behavior.

The new children come in often with serious and hurt looks on their faces. After a few weeks they arrive with big smiles on the face and eager to participate and learn. They then start to be confident and surer of themselves.

Because this is free to the parents, who most could not afford to pay, it reaches those that need it most.

So I will continue to support ICAN with my time and donations.

ICAN has been providing an essential and valued service to the Chandler, AZ community for 25 years. ICAN, an innovative youth intervention initiative, emerged to address significant gang and drug abuse problems Chandler was experiencing. This modest effort has grown significantly over the years and been recognized locally, regionally and nationally for its consistently outstanding programs and service to the community.

Today, ICAN provides hundreds of at-risk youth free services and programming - from a safe place to go after school and in the summers to programs designed to help them become productive, self-confident and responsible members of the community. And it works!!

It works because ICAN works diligently and intelligently to maintain and improve existing programs and develop new initiatives through rigorous assessment and analysis employing measurable objectives. They've also developed and nurtured win/win community partnerships and created an organization that provides essential services corporations, foundations and individuals find deserving of their support.

I am delighted to be able to support ICAN financially. It is the epitome of what I consider a 5-star nonprofit.
