My name is Buck Fitzgerald. I have been involved with Hunger Relief International for 8 years or so. I was first introduced to HRI through my church and went on several mission trips to Guatemala over a 4 year period. Now my family and I partner with HRI thru our monthly contributions to help further their cause in Guatemala and beyond. HRI is doing amazing things for the people of Guatemala and we are so excited to continue our support and be part of this great cause. Our lives have been blessed by the lives we have been able to touch through HRI. I am so grateful for my friend, Pastor Trey Williams who I proudly served beside on mission trips through HRI and now I am so very excited about his new role with HRI as Community Liaison. If you are looking for an amazing nonprofit to get involved with that is making a huge impact, I suggest that you reach out to HRI and ask for Trey Williams.

It can be difficult when choosing the right organizations to support but Hunger Relief International was an easy choice for our family. My husband and son have both been a part of mission teams with HRI and seeing the work first hand was incredible. HRI looks for unique ways to not only meet the needs of the people they serve but they also look for ways to help people and villages become self sustainable to strengthen future generations. We receive regular updates on the impact past projects continue to have on the communities supported by HRI and new projects in the works.

I have been on multiple trips with HRI and they are amazing!! I love the entire staff. Very helpful and informative. Whatever you are in need of, they will provide and exceed your expectations. I love their hearts for those that they serve and protect daily. Everything that they stand for as an organization is genuine and powerful. I don't think that you can say that about many nonprofits these days. I would trust them with my life and my money again and again!

I can only speak for the Guatemalan portion of this team, but they are incredible individuals! I am blown away by their hearts and passion for the people of this region. The HRI Guatemalan team is made up of hard workers that give their everything to their mission. They go above and beyond to make sure that every individual that needs help is taken care of. I'm honored to have served by their side for several years now! Great people. Great mission.

I've had the privilege of donating and volunteering with HRI in its support of several villages in Guatemala. HRI goes far beyond being a charity. HRI is a fully committed partner in empowering the impoverished villages in rural Guatemala. They have taken strategic steps in choosing projects that build infrastructure of health, safety, sanitation, and education. I witnessed firsthand how HRI empowered families with the supplies and support to build latrines. Providing families with a necessity for everyday life, improved living conditions, and dignity. Projects like that along with water filters and safe cook stoves, allow a family to raise their children in a safe and healthy environment. Children that can thrive and learn instead of being sick and hungry. HRI is giving hope to the hopeless with these projects lead by local staff who are committed and dedicated to improving the lives of their neighbors. A staff that is passionate for and familiar with the struggles of the villages they serve. I highly recommend HRI as a great organization.

It is always a great pleasure working with Hunger Relief International. The staff members are always so professional and passionate about their work for the children and families. HRI is very transparent with the use of their funds and donations. I feel very comfortable and trust that they will use the funds to meet so many crucial needs for these children and their families. Having been to Haiti twice on mission trips organized by HRI I can honestly say I put my trust in them and have seen firsthand the great works they have been doing in Haiti with donations.

I am a donor to Hunger Relief International (HRI) as well as a 30 year veteran in the nonprofit fundraising field, so I'm well-versed in what to look for in terms of an organization's transparency, efficacy and impact.

HRI, while small in infrastructure, is huge on impact. Less than 10 years old, their programs are providing massive services on a less than $1million dollar annual budget. That's because 94% of funding goes directly to programming. Their CEO and the few in country staff that they have take very small salaries, they do not use professional fundraising companies and their are extremely adept at partnering with other nonprofits in the field.

If anyone is looking to support an international mission that feeds, educates and provides health necessities to children in poverty, while working programmatically to unify families and help parents to become economically stable, there is none better Hunger Relief International.

Hunger Relief International has always been a pleasure to partner with. Our organization has partnered with them to support various villages and projects in Guatemala. They are organized, professional, but most importantly, they have a huge passion to see the world changed and poverty ended. HRI is hands-on in any relief efforts and always act quickly to respond to various needs in all the areas of the world they support.

They have always gone over and above to make a difference in the lives of people who are in poverty. They are making a lasting impact in so many big ways and are bringing hope to people in extreme poverty on a daily basis. Any person or organization would be blessed to partner with them in their efforts.

While visiting a summer camp in Haiti, this wonderful little boy honored me with his time and his trust. Summer camps can be exciting and chaotic. I marveled at the bravery he showed while negotiating his environment without the use of sight. No sitting on the sidelines for this little guy!

I contacted HRI to ask how I might be able to support him and his family in maximizing his opportunities. HRI staff took the time to talk with his family about their strengths and their areas of need. HRI then provided me with several options for offering assistance. HRI made arrangements for me to give in a way that is comfortable for me and meaningful for my little buddy and his family.

I am so grateful to HRI staff for facilitating sponsorship. And I am filled with joy each time I receive an update!

It is an honor and a blessing to partner with HRI, an organization which not only meets the immediate needs of those in crisis, but also helps to provide them a path to self-sufficiency. Yes, they feed the hungry. But they also work toward long term nutrition. Yes, the provide health care to the sick. But they also engage in long term wellness efforts. Yes, they provide education; education which leads to employability. Yes, they provide child care; child care which reduces child abandonment and provides parents the opportunity to work. I know this because I’ve been allowed to participate in many of these programs. I’ve seen it first-hand.
And I’ve seen the people at HRI working humbly, sacrificially, and graciously toward these goals.

I had the good fortune to meet Rachel Zelon, founding member of HRI, many years ago. I was aware of her exemplary work with refugees and children. I was an early supporter of HRI and have been amazed and impressed with what this small organization has been able to accomplish. They are doing extraordinary work in Haiti and Gautemala, implementing nutritional programs, improving sanitation and access to clean water, offering education and opportunities for families to become more self sufficient.

I greatly value how well informed HRI keeps their donors. Rachel Zelon is responsive and accessible. She and her team really make donors feel they are part of this very important work.

I have worked as a volunteer with HRI in Guatemala since 2013. Most of my work has been leading a church mission team on weeklong projects. We have built kitchens at village schools to support feeding programs in those communities. We have installed portable water filters and built latrines. We have done Bible school programs and kids' activities. I have also worked directly with their team on a project installing safe stoves to some of their villages, replacing open fire cookstoves.

The need in the rural areas south of Guatemala City is dire; the conditions are heartbreaking. And yet, there are no other humanitarian organizations on the ground in this region. HRI's vision for that area of the country is to ensure not only better nutrition for the children in these communities, but to move the ball forward through safe drinking water (filtration systems), better sanitation (latrines), better hygiene practices (through training) and nutrition. Better health leads to greater opportunities, such as pursuing education beyond primary school, as well as greater employment opportunities.

When you see the living conditions of people who are so poor and marginalized, and you see what a difference HRI is making, it is hard not to get excited about being a part of it. HRI is not "giving a child a fish." They are "teaching a child to fish" through their education programs. Providing portable water filtration systems gives a hand up to people who have ZERO ACCESS to clean drinking water. That means fewer parasites; less diarrhea, and the ability to actually BENEFIT from the nutrition that people have access to. Providing latrines means that people aren't going to the bathroom wherever they find a place. Not only does that keep the bacteria and microbes found in human waste from entering into the community ecosystems, it provides people with privacy and dignity.

HRI has a long-term plan for community health and self-sustenance. Partnering with this organization will provide greater resources to impact even more people in a grossly underserved region. Every staff member I have worked with is knowledgable, compassionate, transparent, and PASSIONATE about their mission. I highly recommend Hunger Relief International!

I traveled to Haiti for the first time this past June and was so impressed! Everything was so well organized, the staff was amazing, and they were so helpful. It takes a lot of work and organization to take 32+ adults around the city, but they did it and everything ran smoothly. Overall, I loved my experience and I am so proud to be able to support this organization and all the amazing work they're doing in Haiti.

We have the privilege of partnering with HRI in Guatemala where we are able to help the people in 3 different villages with food and community services. This includes education and sanitation. The bottom line is, HRI recognizes the dignity and worth of every person and works tirelessly to raise people out of poverty and provide for their essential needs. We are so thankful for the work of HRI and highly recommend this organization.

I've been working with Hunger Relief since 2013, in remote villages in Guatemala. The projects we have done with them include building kitchens in schools, community gardens, chicken coops, repairing and maintaining schools, supplying portable water filters, and building latrines in the villages of Agua Zarca, Plan de Avila, El Reparadero, Nueva Candelario, and La 46. These are all villages outside of Cuilapa, which is maybe 50 miles southeast of Guatemala City. In addition, we have joined them in working at a shelter/relief center after the eruption of the Fuego Volcano in June 2018.

HRI is passionate about their mission to improve the long-term prospects of those living in poverty through education, sanitation, nutrition and health. Their initiatives help individuals and families by providing access to clean water, sanitation through better waste disposal, safe cookstoves, classes on parenting and reading. My experience has been, in the villages where our church is involved, that HRI has a vision for improving living conditions for the population over a series of steps that include all of the above, plus a feeding program for the school-age children of the villages. These steps are intended to help people become self-sufficient and independent.

The team at HRI is passionate about meeting individual and community needs because they know that life change at a local level is how you raise the bar on a broader scale.

Besides being entrenched in long-term projects in Guatemala, HRI is also responsive to moments of crisis. HRI was coordinating relief efforts as soon as they could, after the Fuego eruption. They began sending volunteers in and also began planning for long-term relief efforts that will help the communities most impacted by Fuego to rebuild.

We have been working with HRI in Guatemala for 3 years. I think HRI does a good job of defining the parameters of who they are serving. In Guatemala, for example, they have identified 5 villages and are working a plan to break the cycle of poverty with sanitation, nutrition, education and self-sufficiency in those villages.

I love that the nutrition programs and the work projects are locally-sourced, from a resource and personnel standpoint. I also love that the in-country programs are run from Guatemala, by Guatemalan people.

With 20 years experience working with nonprofits, there are few that I will give 5 stars to. HRI is one of those few. I have been a colleague of the Founder and ED for over 12 years. Her knowledge, experience, leadership and dedication is why HRI is successful. HRI does not just throw food at hungry kids... they work to completely change the direction of their futures. By focusing on prevention, reunification and education, HRI is providing hope and restoration that was once only a dream. And when you give to HRI, you can rest assured every dollar is methodically implemented with the greatest accountability and frugality to make the greatest impact on the lives of the children, families, orphanages, schools and communities. I am a big fan of HRI! Join us and you will be too!

I'm familiar with the work HRI does, and I've been impressed since Day One. HRI doesn't just air-drop box lunches to children in need. They have a 'boots on the ground' approach and their service model is based on attacking the root causes of child hunger, disease and malnutrition by providing resources and education to entire families. The approach is unique and the staff is dedicated. I can't say enough good things about the organization.

To Whom It May Concern:

I have been very happy to support HRI over the years as I truly believe in their programming of offering educational programs for sustainable living for children in Haiti, Guatemala and beyond. While providing money and food is needed and important, when an organization goes beyond that and provides education in setting up water sources, working with local farmers to learn to grow their own food and partnering with churches to facilitate these goals, THIS is what is needed for long term success. I am happy to support such an organization.

Hunger Relief International has helped save the lives of numerous vulnerable children, teens and their families by partnering with local communities to educate and ensure that children and their families are able to have access to clean drinking water, health care and nutritional food.

What sets Hunger Relief International apart is that HRI works with and teaches local farmers, community religious organizations and Government leaders how to grow nutritious foods as well as engage and empower the community to take part in their own health.

Visiting countries like Haiti (among others) HRI has worked to identify water-borne illnesses and resolve this issue through a water treatment and filtration process that the community can now implement themselves. Providing the community ( through donations) with hygiene kits, sanitary latrines, parasite programs and safe cooking stoves will continue to reduce illness and save the lives of the most vulnerable.

On the ground and traveling to countries like Haiti and Guatemala, Hunger Relief International has been successful in saving the sick and undernourished. Many children have lived as a result of implemented programs that address the sick and malnourished.

Hunger Relief International 's programs and the education of the local communities has saved many and helped those in dire need to help themselves through your donations, programs and education.

As a parent, clean drinking water, food and a sanitary home and environment is something most take for granted. These vulnerable children will survive and learn from their parents and community (with the help of HRI) to thrive.

Hunger Relief International has been successful in implementing programs and education across the globe. Medical clinics, planting projects, mosquito nets, nutritional support programs, home planting gardens and more.

Hunger Relief International and it's efforts have been proven to be successful and many should donate and or continue to donate to this wonderful organization.

I have worked with Hunger Relief International for the last several years on projects in both Haiti and Guatemala. During these projects I have seen HRI go out of their way to ensure their projects are productive and efficient, as well they have brought in mission groups and students from universities to show the people of these villages how to grow efficient gardens, installed water filtrations, and to build dorms and security walls for the children. The most impressive thing is to see them invite other organizations long to increase the experience pool to share with these villages, from universities for garden projects, organizations for water projects, engineering firms for sanitation projects. Their teams are made up of local people and they purchase their food for their projects from the local farmers. Unlike other organizations which drop food and leave the local farmers with no one to buy their crops, Hunger Relief has though this trough and care about the people. They strive for the bigger picture of covering not just food, but deworming, clean water, and education, these are the things combined that will break the cycle of poverty. HRI has received awards for their transparency, and Rachel Zelon the founder has been named one of the top 30 people of the world to influence world hunger. This woman even went to Iraq during the war with no support to find and airlift the frail and dwindling remains of a once thriving Jewish community.

Mission trips: In-country guides and translators are great. Stateside support is minimal. All costs are inflated. Dispute resolution a joke. Make sure you know exactly what you are getting.

Transparency is virtually nonexistent.

Nutrition support provided to orphanage is extremely inadequate, and again, there is no transparency or attempt at dispute resolution.
