Working at HIP helped me overcome one of the hardest battles with depression I've ever faced. This is coming from someone who has grappled with it chronically for nearly two decades. Being around such wonderful people while contributing something to my community that has such an apparent and positive impact lifted me up in a way nothing else ever has.

Loving cooking and sharing meals I was thrilled to be able to volunteer for HIP. It’s a pleasure to help prepare delicious nutritious meals for people in need of food. The meals are healthy but as well are feasts for the eye. Menus are carefully chosen and reflect many kinds of food. The meals are generous and great care is taken to assure that meals are attractively arranged and include sauces and condiments that go with the meal. It’s a joy to volunteer with people who care so deeply for the community HIP serves.

As someone that volunteers in their kitchen, I have first- hand knowledge that much time and thought, and the efforts of many, is required to run such a program. A lot of love goes into the preparation of the food, the delivery as well as the serving.

This is something good that people are truly proud to be associated with.

HIP delivers quality food that is culturally appropriate and has been radically responsive to changing needs in the greater Lake City/Shoreline community. Furthermore, their accounting reflects their commitment to integrity and transparency. You know your donations are going where they are supposed to go!

HIP is excellent! As a board member and volunteer, I see the dedication and care that HIP's staff provide to everyone they interact with. It's not just the quality food programs that makes HIP a great organization -- which, by the way, are made from scratch with fresh, healthy ingredients. It's the way that HIP brings people together to be in community and creates spaces that are authentic and meaningful. If you are looking for a place to invest your time or money in your community, please consider HIP!

I had the amazing experience of working as an intern for HIP last summer. Throughout my time as part of the HIP family I got to see into the wide variety of contributions that HIP makes in the community. From free nutritious meals for kids to farmers market cooking demos, the work being done by HIP impacts all parts of the community and truly makes an amazing difference. I look foreward to returning as a volunteer!

I had the privilege of working with Hunger Intervention Program (HIP) as an intern during the summer of 2021. In this role, I worked to support HIP's Summer Eats Program through planning activities, and events geared towards kids. At every turn, I felt supported, valued, and understood by HIP's staff. More than that though, while at HIP, I got to witness firsthand the dedication, drive, and passion that HIP's staff, volunteers, and community partners bring to helping to allieviate food insecurity in north King County. HIP is truly an incredible organization, one that I was proud to be a part of.

I am a high school junior and had the privilege of interning at Hunger Intervention Program over the summer of 2022. As a part of my role, I often served food at HIP's meal sites as a part of their Summer Eats program. I got to experience first-hand the impact that HIP has on the communities that they serve and got to work alongside the amazing volunteers, Americorps members, and staff at HIP. They are truly an amazing organization that I will continue to support.

I have off-and-on volunteered and worked with HIP since 2017 and I can attest that my experience both as a volunteer and employee were phenomenal! The staff at HIP are highly motivated, empathetic, innovative doers and thinkers. Working in the kitchen is always a fun time, with music blasting and meeting new folks from your community - oh and learning how to make a new recipe or gaining a new kitchen skill. It is incredible to see how much a community cares about feeding their neighbors, from skilled hands in the kitchen to food donations from backyard gardens to behind-the-scenes work of keeping our pantry organized and organization funded with grants.

At it's core, HIP serves delicious, scratch-made food to members of our North Seattle community (mostly younger and older folks).
This organization works with community partners and leverages different funding sources to operate efficiently and effectively.
I appreciate the inclusive culture (both inward and outward facing) that HIP promotes and fosters. Young people get great work experience as temporary staff during their Americorps terms. Volunteers of all ages build community and enjoy contributing their time and energy.
This is a very nimble and productive organization honoring the needs of our community.

I've had the honor to work with HIP as a grant writer in the past, and now serve on their board of directors. Access to culturally relevant food can be such a challenge for those who are already struggling with food insecurity. HIP is very community-focused and listens intently to program participants. HIP is also very fiscally responsible. I'm constantly amazed by how far they stretch their program resources while also hiring really top notch, compassionate people to carry out the work.

HIP, does extraordinary work!
Not only am I a board member but I also am actively involved with volunteering.
The work we do is not easy, I can assure you of that but it’s incredibly rewarding when you see the appreciation from people that truly need our services!

I volunteered with Hunger Intervention Program through the Americorps program, and wow! The people who work there, are on the board, who attend the community meals and program, and who volunteer with HIP are an extremely special group. They have high standards for the food they provide to the community, taking in feedback from their community about what THEY need and want. They have awesome nutritionists and dietetics students who help shape their educational programs and menu planning as well.
They are an amazing part of the North Seattle community!

My family and I found HIP through our son’s school. HIP offered Healthy HIP Packs making sure students were well nourished on weekends. We thought what an amazing program that ultimately benefited the entire student body and staff. We started volunteering and quickly felt at home. HIP welcomed us like no other organization. Watching and participating in HIP’s expansion has been a wonderful and fulfilling experience. We hope to always be part of HIP
