Programs: Monitoring, research & analysis: 2 full-time directors, 1 full-time intern, and 2 part-time interns prepared analyses and reports on human rights developments in romania, serbia, slovakia and ukraine posted on internet. Prepared detailed reports on persecution and sentencing of attila marko and tamas marosan in romania. Closely monitored the failure by the romanian government to restore properties confisacted under communism to their rightful owners; and condition of the hungarian miniority in ukraine.

publications, lectures & information services: produced electronic and printed issues of the hhrf newsletter on the major, timely developments effecting hungarian minorites in the region. Disseminated to 5,000 email and 1,200 mail addresses. Maintained internet portal hosting over 100 websites for hungarian minority communities. Exhibited at hungarian day in new brunswick, nj (june). Organized 5th reconnect hunary-hungarian birthright program consisting of three groups in summer; launched reconnect transylvania; organized 5th anniversary alumni trip to hungary and transylvania; and operated the program year round. Continued 40th anniversary archive digitalization project. Particpiated in columbia university panel discussion on the role of hhrd in the past 40 years (april).

representation at domestic and international forums: continuously informed members of the congress on romania's ongoing failure to adequately restitute the denominational properties of the country's hungarian minority. Briefed members of congress on human rights violations in romania, slovakia and ukraine. Attended kmkf, diaspora council and maert meetings in budapest, hungary, (november-december). Administered us diaspora council. Attended annual december white house briefing on hungarian-american relations.
