Humanity Corps actually helps! I have seen the work done here and know it applies directly to the needs of helping those kids in Ecuador.
This is an exceptional organization. I have volunteered and become acquainted with several non-profit groups. Humanity Corps is meeting a key need in Ecuador. Several children in Ecuador are held back simply because parents can't afford books, supplies, tuition. Humanity Corps not only helps children by providing scholarships to bridge this gap, but also they provide tutoring services and in some cases help with temporal needs such as clothing or necessities. Humanity Corps is always trying to do things the smart way. They are all about long-term solutions and not just band-aid solutions that fade. Also, most impressively the officers/board members administering/fundraising are all volunteers. The only paid staff are those working as teachers or helping with the construction of the school there in Ecuador. This really makes your donation go so much further.
I had the opportunity to visit the schools and children Humanity Corps sponsors in Ecuador. Without Humanity Corps’ dedication and contribution none of the children I met would be in school expanding their education. The children showed me the ovens they work at after school to make the bricks their village sells. Without Humanity Corps they would probably be working all day at those ovens. The children had such a light and joy in their eyes when they met the founders of Humanity Corps. They brought us bouquets of wild flowers they picked along the path to school – taking care those flowers did not wilt for the 45 minute trek – to thank us. The children at FAHUM and EXAN have become one nit family. Their sense of love and community is overwhelming. It broke our hearts when teachers from their school brought several children to us and asked if we could add them to our list of sponsored children. They explained that the families could not continue paying for them to go to school. We promised to do what we could to increase Humanity Corps’ sponsorship capacity. I fell in love with each child apart of FAHUM (in the city of Cuenca) and EXAN (in Guayaquil). They shared their talents and love with us. They were ever so grateful to us for helping provide the opportunity to have teachers, instruction, friends, and an enjoyable & safe environment to learn.
