This is an excellent organization that empowers women, children, and families to strive for higher education, better living environment and building healthy relationships. I had the privilege to volunteer for this organization in 2007 and witnessed how lives have changed through the dedicated work that HSCV provided to the communities in northern Vietnam. I believe HSCV's work is essential and valuable in breaking the cycle of poverty for many families today.
As an HSCV volunteer in Hanoi I was lucky enough to visit many of the supported families in rural areas outside Hanoi. I was welcomed so warmly into their homes, meet their family and neighbors, and hear their life stories. I was impressed by the strength of spirit, the support of and to neighbors, and the bright lovely children who all expressed a strong desire to learn. Many of these people were working very long hours in difficult circumstances just to eke by a living. All education is not free and I saw the stress on some families to be able to keep their children in school. HSCV supports these families with tuition, nutrition, bicycles, clothing, backpacks, school lunches, etc. I received many hugs from parents and heartfelt hopes from very bright children desparate to better the lives of their families. Please do whatever you can do to help these wonderful people.
