Mission: Be. Group is dedicated to providing quality housing, health and support services, primarily for older adults of all faiths that enrich the physical, social and spiritual dimensions of their lives. Be. Group is also committed to acting as a resource for the communities in which we operate.
Programs: Be. Group provides quality housing and programs for older adults. It is not our policy to retain residents if they outlive their assets. However, when any of our continuing care retirement community (ccrc) residents are faced with financial crises, the be. Group benevolence program, which is funded by philanthropic efforts, enables them to remain in be. Group communities. No be. Group ccrc contract resident has ever been asked to leave because of inability to pay. In some cases, even the entry fee is reduced or waived if the entering resident(s) is found to be in need, having worked a life of service to human kind diminishing present and future income. Throughout 2014, be. Group provided quality housing, services and programs for older adults in our ccrc's. The total resident population as december 31, 2014 was 967, of which 675 were in residential, 148 were in assisted living and 144 were in skilled nursing.
nursing related expenses for seniors - be. Group provides 24-hour high-quality nursing care and rehabilitation services. In the nursing communities, special emphasis is placed on the emotional well being of the residents and their families during a difficult period in their lives. Be. Group nursing communities also include bereavement and support counseling for families, and referral services. In an effort to ensure the greatest mobility for nursing facility residents, a wheelchair accessible van is provided, enabling nursing facility mobility impaired residents to go with ambulatory residents on outings previously inaccessible to them. Be. Group vans are also available for ccrc's and low-income seniors in other be. Group managed communities.
affordable housing for low income and very low income seniors - we serve the low and very low-income senior citizens and mobility impaired adults who make up our resident populations. It is our intent and desire to assure our residents of safe, affordable housing and to promote a secure and supportive environment. We strive daily to obtain the highest degree of resident satisfaction; to promote independence and individuality, while cultivating a sense of community and mutual respect; to educate and advocate sensitivity to cultural diversity; to facilitate an environment of open communication; to encourage resident participation in activities and management decision making; and to maintain the function and appearance of our communities at their highest levels. We are proud of our buildings and residents. We reach out and address a desperate housing need, which is invaluable to the communities we serve.
be. Group home care for seniors and assisted living for seniors - services are provided to people in their own homes and residential communities who need assistance with cooking, cleaning, shopping, laundry, transportation, or companionship. This program was developed in 1995. The service is offered to low-income seniors through california's mssp frail elderly program as well as to those who pay privately. As part of be. Group's mission to enhance the lives of seniors, be. Group has developed two stand-alone assisted living communities. These communities provide assistance to individuals who need help with activities of daily living (adl's) such as bathing, dressing, ambulating and medication monitoring. They do not need 24-hour medical supervision but may benefit from specialized activity programs or memory support.
Due to a debilitating urinary tract infection my husband needed Respite Care and as fully paid members of a Human Good community we were accommodated in the Assisted Living section. After the Respite Care time was up he continued to stay in the same room for several more weeks while recuperating, all the while paying the rate of assisted care for the room. I requested my husband be moved to a fully designated Assisted Care room as he continued to improve, and I was assured his name was on "the list" for this. Then, Westminster Gardens offered an inappropriate shared room in Memory Care (a locked down, Covid infected facility) which did not meet our needs. The crass agenda of HumanGood/Westminster Gardens showed itself as they then announced in a HumanGood team meeting with myself and the state Ombudsman for Elder Care that my only option next for my husband was the room in Memory Care not one in Assisted Living, or I could take him home or find an outside facility to help us. The CEO at WG stated their agenda was all about 'selling' the inappropriate room to me for my husband because they were not going to accommodate him in the level I requested. Of course their agenda benefits HumanGood by thousands of dollars at our expense and cuts off our avenue to appropriate care as my husband has rebounded remarkable well after the infection. In fact now he is home and needs little or no care from others . My husband was to be denied what should have been coming to him in Assisted Liviing level because HumanGood/Westminster Gardens wanted to "SELL" a room in Memory Care. Once again we see the almighty dollar as the bottom line with this so called non-profit. What a disgrace. Beware before you sign any contracts with HumanGood. They do not have your best interest at heart!
These new board members got their priorities all wrong, it looks to me like they imploded a jewel they had, they murdered their cash cow, a desirable property that was perfect as a care facility, but perfect wasn't enough. They wanted to pancake seniors into tiny boxes to mass produce giant cash crops. This is obviously not a not for profit , beware, look behind the curtain there is a Greedy Wizard moving levers in an angry manner.
Be.group senior living of Southern California, an assisted living retirement non-profit, has evicted seniors from their Twelve Oaks property. The property was gifted as a trust to the Presbyterian Homes of Southern California. Be.group has done a 2 million PR campaign, transferred the property to a new DBA called the be.group and has evicted the senior residents who are in their 80's and 90's. The be.groups intent is to sell the property for profit and use their non profit status to avoid taxes. Be.group is a sham!
