Mission: The Memphis Shelby County Humane Society was founded in 1933 to prevent cruelty to animals and promote humane education in the community. Today, we are still true to the mission. The Humane Society comes to the aid of thousands of abused, injured and unwanted animals every year and places them suitable homes. The Humane Society's cruelty officers work with the local law enforcement to eliminate animal abuse and neglect. Humane education programs are conducted in area schools and libraries to teach the public the importance of companion animals.
Programs: Short-term care of injured, abused, abandoned or stray animals and the adoption of these animals into good homes
