Very thoughtful and caring staff. Work tirelessly to ensure the pets get quality care and find a forever home.
In 2016 I met my best friend in prison. Red was in the prison training program and was brought to my work area for another staff member to see him. I had never thought about having a hound dog before. When Red came in he ran up to me first and it was love at first sight. I put my application in immediately and the shelter staff was incredibly prompt in responding. There were a few issues on my end that had to be worked out before I was approved, but they were patient and understanding. The day we adopted Red was one of our best days ever. We can't say enough good things about the staff at HMSC.
Great experience the dog I got from the prison program was well trained and the sweetest and the staff were great in making the adoption process easy. whenever I contacted them they were willing to help or refer me to those who could.
I work at Madison County Correctional and have observed the dog program for about a year and a half now. In that year and a half, I have watched the Madison County Humane Society work diligently to get these puppies and grown dogs into the best homes and get the best fighting chance. I am a witness to this myself. I lost my dog that I had since I was 18 about a month ago and I felt like there was something missing in my heart and in my home. I found Toby through the prison program and worked closely with the Humane Society staff and they guided me right through the process and made this a very easy transition for myself and my family. They take their time to make sure all the I's are dotted and the T's crossed and no stone is left unturned. I 100% agree and believe in the process they take for these dogs because no one wants to see them back in the shelter to sit in a cage for the remainder of their time. Every dog deserves a good life and a good home with a loving family and Madison County Humane Society makes sure that happens.
I have worked for the Humane Society of Madison County since 1995, and I have watched the shelter grow from a small cinder block building with a portable toilet and two trailers all the way to our move into the newer facility in 2011. I have watched our board of directors and director work nonstop making our small humane society something to be proud of, and I am thankful every day to be a part of this amazing journey.
The board is very hands on in finding what we need to improve the animals lives as well as our lives while at work. They have searched out equipment for the surgery suite, made sure the medical care for the animals is top notch. They have found ways to improve the dog runs, and their outside play area. They just finished updating our Kitty Korner, making it a more pleasing place for the cats and kittens to hang out until they are adopted.
Visitors, adopters and volunteers enjoy seeing these changes and comment on how comfortable the facility and staff make them feel.
The team at HSMC does a great job. They are compassionate, helpful, understanding and always trying to do what’s best.
Every time I have called or stopped in this business, I have been met with kindness and helpfulness. Strongly recommend the Humane Society of Madison Co of OH
The humane society is a business that cares about dogs as well as cats. The staff is very thorough with their explanations on adopting and volunteering. The staff is patient and takes their time to ensure understanding and answering all questions. Their website, hsmcohio.org, even posts pictures of all of their adoptions. You even can view their adoptable dogs and cats on their website too. I would highly recommend visiting the website, calling or visiting (by appointment only).
