Volunteering Oportunities

Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals

Mission: Humane Society HoCo is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to serving the citizens and animals of Houston County, Georgia. Our volunteers work tirelessly to educate the public on the importance of spaying & neutering, micro-chipping and responsible pet care. Humane Society HoCo serves the Houston County area including Warner Robins, Perry, Centerville, Bonaire, and Kathleen covering more than 376.75 square miles. We want nothing more than to save as many homeless animals as we can and find them wonderful forever families. We rely entirely on private donations, self-generated income (adoption and receiving fees), foundations, and corporations for all funding. Humane Society HoCo is not a branch of any national organization, such as the Humane Society of the United States, nor do we receive funds from any city, county, state or federal source. Every cent goes directly to helping our animals, many of whom have special needs and therefore have additional veterinary expenses.

I have been volunteering with this rescue for over seven years. Saving these animals often from euthanasia and getting them into good homes makes it all worthwhile.

The Humane Society of Houston County is a small rescue with a big heart. We have the most awesome ,dedicated volunteers that work incredibility hard for the animals in our program. Our goal is to place our sweet fur babies in forever homes by application and conducting a meet and greet process. We want this to be the last stop for these animals in finding their forever caring families. We also help the special needs as they deserve a chance also.

The Humane Society Of Houston County is a wonderful organization. It is run by a dedicated group of volunteers who are all very different but share a common love of animals.
Everyone has a place at HSHoCo,from looking after the animals in their care.Which entails making sure daily needs are met.Feeding, cleaning up after them making them feel loved.Driving them to vet appointments.
To doing laundry and mowing the yard.Everyone has a place and is valued for the time and dedication they put into helping those with no voice. So happy to part of such an awesome group of animal lovers!

The Humane Society of Houston County is a wonderful place to volunteer. I have been volunteering there for a year and a half and have met so many wonderful and caring people in that time. All the volunteers and staff members give 110% to the caring, loving and welfare of all the animals. I could not be more proud of being a part of this great organization.

I am a member and volunteer at the Humane Society of Houston County for about two years now. The people there are all wonderful caring people that love the animals. I get much satisfaction from seeing those sweet animals in the mornings and I know they enjoy seeing us. This organization plays a vital role in saving the lives of homeless animals in our community and I am honored to be a part of it.

well I am 17 years old and so I wanted to prove to my mo that I could take care of something and pay for it along the way and keep up with other vital things, such as school and my job at my church. well I heard about the humane society from online and so I got the approval from my mom and we filled out an application for one of the kittens. well soon enough I got an email back saying it looked amazing and they would set up the appointments for the shots and microchip. in about 2-3 weeks I got to own that cat and throughout the whole entire process of the emails to calls to everything, the staff was so friendly and they do a lot for their animals. I would love to volunteer there and help out. I encourage anyone and everyone to. they're sweet and southern people. my two favorite. overall they are amazing and I've never ever had any problems with them!

I have adopted 2 dogs and ended up fostering for this great group. They are dedicated, caring and most of all love the furbabies as their own. People come from all over the United States to adopt from this group. Awesome people!!!!!

I am so very impressed by the way this group of volunteers work so hard at giving 101% of their time love and devotion to helping make a difference in these animals lives. They offer a clean twice daily volunteer group whom give of their time to make sure these animals are feed and cared for physically and medically all the while running off of donations from the public. I think this group is awesome in every way! These animals would be an added bonus to any home!! Thank you group!
