Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals

Mission: To educate the public in responsible pet ownership, the importance of spay/neuter and to give voice and shelter to all the unwanted, abandoned and abuseed animals in our community.

Programs: Fostering a pet is simple-it begins when you volunteer to care for a homeles pet in your home. Taking the pet home frees up room in the shelter for incoming animals with the added benefit of socializing and caring for homeless animals. Often this temporary situation is great for families who want to help but can't permanantly have another pet or a pet at all. Fosters are especially needed for pregnant and nursing animals.

The Humane Society of Dickson County has come a long way since their location off South Eno Road. Fortunately, with grants and a better management team/board of directors, their new facility has proven to be a great success. Not only does Dickson County assist with companion animals that are lost, displaced, abused/neglected, they assist neighboring counties as well..
They do appear very transparent; answering questions and not ignoring. Very interactive shelter manager.
The joint cooperation between the humane society and animal control (sheltering) gives more animals, a better chance of being relocated by owners or find new adoptive homes.
