I am a volunteer and I am a foster mom for cats and kittens. I enjoy my position and all the love that I get from my fosters. We have so many cats in need and They go above and beyond to help cats and dogs alike. They make sure they have all of their vaccinations and preventatives as well as having them spayed or neutered and microchipped. We spend countless hours loving and caring for our wonderful animals and are grateful for all those who had and are wanting to donate and volunteer.
The Humane Society of Davie County has so many valuable services that help the pet community to include a low-cost spay/neuter clinic and pet food pantry. I am a cat/kitten foster for the organization and they save so many animals through foster, adoption and rescue. They cover all expenses for foster pets.
Such an amazing experience with HSDC. The animals we have adopted from them have become special members of our family.
HSDC is such a great organization and always super helpful! My relationship started with HSDC when a neighbor stray colony had a litter of kittens. With the help of this organization I was able to TNR the stray colony using their amazing low cost spay and neuter program as well as get all the kittens much needed medical attention. The humane society was such a great resource to work with that I continued the relationship and foster to this day.
"The little engine that could" might describe this organization, doing so much to affect the lives of animals and people with limited resources. In addition to the obvious feel-good stories about adoptions (I have 6 HSDC kitty alumni, 4 of whom are still with me), even greater community impact comes from their facilitating lower-cost spay-neuter clinics to try to prevent so many unwanted litters and from their monthly transports of kittens and puppies to locations experiencing shortages where they can be more quickly adopted, as well as providing pet food for insecure families as it is available. Our COMMUNITY needs HSDC, and I will always support it to the best of my ability!
As a volunteer and foster Mom for the last couple of years I have had great experiences with HSDC. The group is great to work with and offers wonderful support when anything is needed. Janis the OM go out of her way to make sure you have what you need no matter the day or time. Even on her day off she supported emergencies and Medical needs for my Foster pets. I since then have become a board member. We have some hurdles to jump to continue our mission. The nature of rescue has changed over the last few years and with COVID our volunteer base has changed as well. As we move through the change I know we will continue to do good things. We have a dedicated group and love our community. Can't wait to see what the future holds for us.
My husband and I have adopted two dogs from the Humane Society of Davie County and in both cases the experience was exceptional. It is obvious the animals are loved and well cared for and that potential adopters are well screened. The facility is clean and well maintained and the staff is friendly and helpful. I would recommend them to anyone who is considering adoption of a furry friend!
My name is Carrie DuPre and I am the marketing manager at the Humane Society of Davie County. I have seen dogs come in with haunting signs of prior mistreatment or abuse. They flinch at my touch and it becomes nearly impossible to take their photograph. BooBoo was one of those cases. She was absolutely terrified of people from past abuse. Luckily, a wonderful person gave BooBoo a second chance at happiness. With every week she spends in her forever home, she has grown and come out of her terrified shell. She cuddles and has begin to play and act like a puppy for the first time in her life.
My name is Gloria Wommack and I am the Managing Director of the HSDC. After my retirement as a top leader in the Fashion and Real Estate industry, I was asked if I would consider leading this wonderful team of caring individuals. It all began over lunch with the CEO, who was so excited about saving more cats and dogs in Davie County! I could not have chosen a more passionate and compassionate group to be a part of...I am truly honored to work with this team.
I am a volunteer Board member for HSDC. I am also the CEO for another nonprofit in the county so I know a bit about nonprofits and Boards of Directors. I can tell you that this is the most involved, most dedicated, hardest working, most passionate group of Board members I have ever seen! They are serious about the work and mission of HSDC. They are passionate about their own animals and this spills over into their work with animals they rescue. They have hired a wonderful, talented, smart business woman to manage the Adoption Center who also demonstrates a deep desire to help abandoned dogs and cats find good homes. The org is fiscally sound and finances are well managed. HSDC deserves support from anyone who really cares about the treatment of animals and wants to invest in an organization committed to this work.

I adore working with HSDC! I volunteered with the organization for almost 2 years before joining the Board. During my volunteering, I was able to get to know the animals, help socialize them, clean up for them, and perform any general duties HSDC needed.
I have made some great friends in other animal advocates at HSDC with whom I will have long-lasting relationships. I also was given an opportunity to foster a wonderful little kitty who I later adopted. She has become part of my family and I owe it all to the staff at HSDC for seeing my passion for animals and giving me an opportunity to step up in even greater ways.
HSDC is an amazing organization that strives to educate adults and children about animal welfare as well as reach out in the community to create adoption awareness and animal safety awareness. I love being part of this tremendous organization!

The Humane Society of Davie County works not only in our local community to save pet lives but also in the surrounding areas. We strive to improve education and awareness with our outreach and events. We host annual fundraisers including Cause for Paws and Paws in the Park that allow us to save hundreds of dogs and cats each year. These animals are rescued and placed in loving and safe forever homes. Serving on the Humane Society of Davie's board has allowed me to reach out to the community and give back. There are lots of ways to help, monetary donations, donating supplies, volunteering at the humane society and supporting us at events!

I am a volunteer and a board member at Davie County Humane Society. I spend many hours at the center and witness first-handedly the deep care and commitment to the welfare. Care and adoption of homeless animals. We strive hard to raise the necessary funds through fundraisers, adoption fairs, dpay & nueter clinics, etc. , but the need remains great. There is no greater joy for all of us at the society to experience happy, forever homes for our rescues and rejoice in the pictures that the new mom and dad's share with us.

Our handsome hound, Bryce, is an alum of HSDC. We are grateful every day for the work that HSDC does in rescuing cats and dogs and giving them a second chance at love and fun and devotion.
