This Humane Society is now known as the Heart of the Catskills and they definitely have a lot of heart! I am a volunteer and am always amazed and impressed by the loving care that all the shelter employees devote to the animals in their care. If you are near Delhi, NY, you should definitely pay a visit.

I began volunteering for this shelter (now DBA "Heart of the Catskills Humane Society") when I discovered their passion to help the older and "challenged" as well as the young and healthy pets that are surrendered to them. Their compassion and determination astound me, and has resulted in a widespread superior reputation in their very rural and spread-out area of service. Because of the wonderful work of the staff and the animals in need, volunteers go "above-board" and challenges are being met. The physical shelter as it exists today is much different from the facility when I began volunteering, but the love and compassion and extra efforts made by the staff and board for each pet surrendered are still the same, making it a VERY special group to volunteer and work with. It has changed my life and the lives of multitudes of abandoned or surrendered dogs and cats.
