Over the years our family has adopted dogs, volunteered for numerous successful events and I have participated in committees for the annual Walk For The Animals. Their community involvement and support for families is extraordinary. There are many programs to educate all ages. Everyone's genuine love of the shelter and the animals under their care is so wonderful.

First of all the facility is welcoming to both animals and people. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They are informed regarding all the services offered to assist with current and future pet care.
Their ongoing social outreach offers numerous opportunities to volunteer, donate, participate and support their organization.
Our family has adopted and we have referred many families to do the same.
I have enjoyed volunteering for the annual Walk For The Animals for the past 3 years which will be held LIVE on March 5, 2022.
earlier this year I had to put 2 of my cats to sleep. the Broward humane society has loving, fantastic people working for them. though very sad to say goodbye to my pets, the humane society made the process less painful.
on a happier note, I just had a new kitty, Teddy, neutered at the humane society. again an excellent experience.
the humane society is truly humane both on treatment of our pets, but also about the fees they charge for their wonderful services.
I wanted to get a dog for my wife when I spoke with the people they said dogs are $500.00 dollars I think this is criminal, I am not going to pay just so the ceo of the humane society can get paid 1.1 million dollars a years to sit on his thumb if this was a reputable institution they would be thrilled to give a dog to a good home and not turn it into a puppy mill for people have aa lot of money .
We adopted a special needs dog from the Humane Society of Broward County and the adoptions and clinic staff was so helpful, making sure that we understood her needs before making such a big commitment. We go back to shop in the store there to support the shelter and we can't wait to take her to the Walk this year. Thank you to everyone at the shelter for the best thing in my life and for all you do for the animals!
Wonderful staff who truly care about every single animal that comes thru their doors. The team leaves no stone unturned to promote their physical and mental well-being while they await for their forever home.

The Humane Society of Broward County is a great organization to get involved with. The love for their animals is apparent from the time you walk into their building. I've been fortunate to assist with their adoption program as a foster Mom and the support they give me is priceless. The entire team's goal is to find the best home for all their furry friends and I'm forever grateful for their assistance with these diamonds in the ruff.
I am a donor who sends treats and toys to Broward County shelter. I've never even been to Fort Lauderdale ...in fact I live in Toronto Canada. I found out about Broward county shelter because I get notifications in my Google feed about things I search for. This shelter popped up in my feed one day and I started to follow them on instagram. I was very impressed with the care and treatment of the animals . They are so kind and caring of these precious souls. They have wonderful programs to get people involved with the pets and do their best to make the pets happy while they wait for forever homes. I see many happy adoption videos here ....and tbe shelter goes out of their way to showcase pets to a wide audience around the world. I've been very impressed with what I see. I highly recommend this shelter to anyone wanting to adopt.
I am incredibly grateful for this Wonder organization! Their services are great but the staff is something really special. I was treated with so much compassion during a difficult time today and I cannot thank your amazing staff enough as they went out of their way to make everything as smooth and comforting as possible. Truly some of the very best customer service I've experienced here in South Fla in a long time! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart
In addition to what one might expect at a local shelter, The Humane Society of Broward County goes above and beyond. They provided multiple days of multiple volunteers after Hurricane Ian on the West Coast which included vet techs, walkers, bathers & facility cleaning. Additionally, numerous supplies not only for the shelter but to the local volunteers unable to obtain gas and water. Many cats and dogs were loaded in the vans and transported to the shelter for adoption. Beagles were rescued and brought to the shelter from the medical facility in Virginia for adoption. Community oriented training offers so many programs such as an animal assisted therapy program; multiple age education programs to encourage engagement with animals building compassion and understanding; summer and holiday camps; fostering; behavior and training classes to name only a few. Recently the shelter hosted a Harry Pawter's family 'Dogwarts' event that was filled with activities, animal playtime and an overall feeling of how much love and care the staff feels about their workplace. The annual Walk For The Animals is one of their biggest and community inclusive events held in March. To see over 2500 dogs (and 1 pig!) walk the 1 mile loop at this well organized and fun filled day is awesome! While scrolling the website for a kitten during the pandemic, I stumbled upon a beautiful 2-year old tuxedo cat named Romeo. I had promised my daughter a kitten for her upcoming birthday, but I had to meet this guy. The first week he was terrified but eventually he came around. Mr. Romeo lives up to his name as he snuggles with anyone willing to withstand his enormous rump on their lap. He was a gift from this clean, modern shelter and we were so happy with staff that we decided to have my daughter’s birthday party there the following year. We will always be grateful to this shelter for giving us our newest family member:)
I have been a volunteer at this facility for over 5 years, and I can attest to the wonderful services they provide to all the animals and community. Never saw a group of people who work so hard to make a difference for our pet population.
I have volunteered in many different positions over the years. I thought that this time I would like to volunteer in an animal shelter. As a retired Social Worker, I had facilitated support groups, so becoming a facilitator for Humane Society of Broward County Pet Loss Support Group appealed to me. Since joining, I have become aware of the deep grief people experience when their beloved pets pass away. This has been especially true during the pandemic.
When a person calls into the shelter, 954-989-3977, they leave their name and phone number and or email address. I am contacted with that information and will contact that person. Usually there is contact by phone before we meet as a group. We meet the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. Since the pandemic we have been meeting via zoom. We welcome people to be part of the group for as long as they want.
I am grateful to the Humane Society of Broward County for the opportunity and support that I have received as their facilitator This is a much needed service that is provided at no charge to pet loss owners. Unless you’re a pet owner and have experienced the loss of that pet, you can’t know the grief that that pet owner is experiencing. Unfortunately, most family and friends don’t understand the amount of grief that is experienced when a pet dies.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Kennedy
I have been a volunteer for this wonderful organization for over 20 years. I’ve been an animal lover all my life and it’s great to see the staff and other volunteers do so much to help our animal friends as well as their services to our community. I can’t say enough about the fantastic staff! I’m proud to be part of this organization!
This page of donor and volunteer fluff should contain some of the victims as well! I have been involved way back when it was known under ANOTHER name! I went dozens of PetSet events and donated time, money & brand new items for many silent auctions! That was when I was practicing law! However, I became disabled and dogs took on an even bigger meaning to me! Whoever reads this, I am in full agreement that the facility is terrific and every volunteer I have had to deal with is terrific! But, My best bed and monster Olde English Bulldog passed away during the dark days of this pandemic! When I got stronger I went to the awesome shelter you know that! I wanted to careful and move methodically with a bully mix and the staff couldnt have been better! A hold was placed on the dog, I agreed to pay for boarding because i wanted to turn my place into a pup playland and it would take a day or 2! No big deal except when I cane in to get my boy so sweet a monster apparently over-road the woman’s decision to be kind and make this fun for me! As such, new rules were made on the fly to which of course rendered it impossible to have my home ready! I was then told there is no boarding despite being quoted a fee! Everyone needs to know I want you to keep supporting this shelter! But, this particular woman butt heads with the director that was so kind to me, trying to assert her authority and made new rules to userp the other director! And, I was told I was not allowed to have the dog, who came from Louisiana with heartworm! Her own ego and no other reason was the problem! I was crushed and as I write this today AGAIN November I am told if I appear at the facility BSO will remove me me physically removed from the premises! This is a mean lady, she needs to be relieved of her position because I had a great time picking out the dog and the juices started flowing! If she is aware that I am disabled and took this course of action she is in big trouble! But, I dont think I will ever get this dog i’ve been looking for months! I placed pics of him and I playing in that awesome indoor enclosure all over social media! The entire building is terrified of her and no one that worked with me will speak up! I have never heard of this and I am beyond despondent! So, when you see my 1 star I have no choice this lady destroyed me! AND I HAVE A LIFETIME BAN! But, from my above narrative you know I am a huge fan and supporter/donor of this shelter! As I mentioned I am working with everyone from attorneys, to law enforcement to other staff members to various organizations for the disabled! This must never happen to anyone again, disabled or not! I just dont have my dog! Take care everyone and keep up the good work!
The Humane Society of Broward County is a great place to adopt a pet. The staff and volunteers genuinely care for the animals. I wish there were more space to build larger areas for the cats to walk around and exercise during their stay. Other than that, this facility is just pure gold 🙂❤️
They do great work! They take such good care of the animals they receive, and are always there for them. I've been a foster for them for a year and have absolutely loved it!
I have been involved with the Humane Society of Broward County for at least 18 years. I have sat on the Board of PAWS, the auxiliary for HSBC, chaired events, hosted events, helped in committees and now I am a volunteer! This organization is run with love, scruples and tenderness. The animals are our top priority! They get great care and plenty of hugs! It is a state of the art facility thanks to donors who love animals. We have cats, dogs, guinea pigs, rabbits!
I am proud to be a part and play a small role to help with the animals. The staff is well trained, cooperative and love what they do.

My husband and I are both animal lovers and we have found a second home in the Broward County Humane Society. We are volunteers.
The people we have come in contact with from the medical personnel, technicians, animal care staff and volunteers have all been terrific. We enjoy sharing the love and care given to each animal. We also have learned a lot.
Hello Everyone,
I'm back to tell you all about how wonderful the Humane Society of Broward County is! I am a very proud 25-year veteran volunteer for this outstanding organization. Though my time with the shelter is coming to a close as I relocate to a new city, and I'm very sad to have to say so long to those that I have come to regard as a second family; I know that this group of ultra-dedicated individuals will continue their work helping to save the lives of these precious animals.
I volunteer with my little girl... yes, girl... Sherlock. You can read about her in a previous review further down. I just wanted to let everybody know that the Humane Society of Broward County is a shelter dedicated to its mission of creating a more humane community. Most people don't realize that after you adopt from our organization, we don't just say thank you and have a nice life. Our animals know that their new Mommies and Daddies can always contact us for anything they need from low-cost vaccines to all levels of obedience classes to fun things that everyone can participate in. Especially as the holidays approach!
For those who want to give back to their community, the HSBC offers at least 20 different departments to volunteer in from Education, Animal Assisted Therapy, Bathing, Grooming, assisting in the clinic right down to everyone's favorite PALS program. Please, go to our website for further details. Thank you in advance for your support.
BTW, I have added updated photos of my little girl Sherlock.

My name is Dawn, but more importantly; my best friend in the whole-wide world is named Sherlock. She, yes I know she has an unusual name for a female, is a 4 year old Poodle- Bichon Frise mix. A Bichonoodle, if you will. I adopted Sherlock from the Humane Society of Broward County in June of 2017 after tragically loosing my Service Dog whom I also adopted from HSBC years previously. She was being used as a backyard puppy mill breeder dog before someone brought her to the shelter. Sherlock helped mend my shattered heart. I never found all of the pieces to my broken heart; some went with my last buddy to the Rainbow Bridge, but I did find the ability to love and share love again from Sherlock. My family has adopted a total of four dogs from the shelter so far. All of them beautiful and with endless love to give. In the future, all of our fur babies will come from the Humane Society of Broward County.
I am also a 21 year veteran volunteer for the Humane Society of Broward County. I will start by saying that one doesn't devote that much time and effort into an organization that doesn't deserve it. I wouldn't donate my time to them if I didn't believe wholeheartedly in what they do.Everything, and I mean everything, the shelter does is for the animals in their care. My role as a volunteer is in education and community outreach. Sherlock volunteers with me as an Education dog. We go to schools to teach the children about pet care, pet safety and careers in the animal care field. We also participate in community special events. I speak with many people that have adopted from our facility. I always hear that the best companion animals in their lives have come from HSBC. Not once have I ever heard a word of regret regarding adopting from this shelter. The compliments always expand to the quality of staff, the cleanliness of the kennels and the delight that there are programs for children, adults and dogs to participate in such as summer camps, a Senior's club and obedience classes. This shelter has provided me with a second family in my volunteer work, and has added tremendously to my personal life from the animals that I have adopted from them. In many ways, the Humane Society of Broward County is much more than just an animal shelter. It is a place that nurtures a more humane community.
I have been blessed to volunteer at the Humane Society of Broward County (HSBC) for almost 20 years. The volunteer opportunities at the HSBC are numerous because this amazing organization is multifaceted. In addition to pet adoption, this nonprofit offers low cost vaccines and spay/neuter, inhouse educational programs for young children through seniors, obedience classes, a behavior help line, and community outreach programs for schools and businesses. The HSBC also partners with overcrowded shelters in other areas of the country and Puerto Rico to transport pets often slated for euthanasia to our shelter so that they can find loving homes. The Humane Society of Broward County is an exceptional nonprofit that constantly strives to meet the needs of homeless pets and the community. I am honored and proud to be a part of this amazing organization.
I have been a volunteer at the Humane Society of Broward County for ten years. I love my work in the clinic where the surgery is performed. All of the animals receive excellent care by both the employees and the volunteers. I take my job very seriously and try not to miss a day. It’s a terrific organization.
I have been photographing dogs, cats & other animals for the Humane Society of Broward County website since Jan 2018. It has been an honor and a pleasure to work with this organization.
I have volunteered with this organization for 5 years & adopted my kitty from them. He was a senior cat who is turning 17 in 2 months. He was kept in good health while there & the entire building was clean. There are staff & volunteers Constantly cleaning & making sure the animals are healthy & have access to food & water. As a cat pal I spend time enriching their lives by playing, petting & cuddling them. Everyone is concerned with their well-being & care. The only reason I give 4 stars is because most of the cats are kept in cages & I dislike the cages. But they are kept as clean as possible. The dogs are walked frequently & their cages are bigger.
I have been volunteering at Humane Society of Broward County for a few years. I specifically work with the cats and love it! The shelter is immaculate and all the cat and dog cages are always kept clean and tidy.
Linda Sanders, Director of Volunteer Services is amazing to work with. She is extremely helpful and supportive, and is truly dedicated to the animal’s well-being.
Being a volunteer at Humane Society of Broward County has been incredibly rewarding. It is such a thrill to watch the cats and dogs leave the shelter, as they are going to their new forever homes.
I started volunteering at Humane Society almost 6 months ago. The staff are very friendly and I love helping the animals. I work with the cats in the Cats in Progress position. I get to play with them to analyze their personalities. I notice an improvement in their personalities after being played with and loved. It always makes me feel good whenever one of the cats finds a new home. Everyone seeks the best interest of the animals and we all seek to find them a new forever home :)
I have had the pleasure to volunteer for the Humane Society of Broward County for the past 12 years. It is fun to work with a well organized organization. Lots of great people to meet and of course see all the animals and know that I am making a difference.
The HSBC is fantastic! The facility is clean and orderly. The animals are not only well cared for physically, but they are loved by the volunteers and the staff. Any interactions with the animals clearly reflects the enjoymen, respect t and commitment of whatever team is involved.
The clinic is a well-oiled machine and the DVMs, and techs are alert to any potential physical/medical issues beyond the routine of neutering/vaccinations.
I have been volunteering in the clinic for over 10 months and appreciate the HSBC every day!
Couldn't ask for a more caring and compassionate organization to be a part of. My focus will always be on how the animals are cared for, and the care they're provided is extraordinary. I'm proud to be a part of this shelter.
The Humane Society of Broward County is extremely conscientious and caring about animals and tries to keep pets with their owners, but if that is not possible, it provides a caring environment until the dog, cat, ferret, Guinea Pig, hamster, or rabbit can find a forever home. It takes care in finding the right adoptive family. As a volunteer for over 10 years, I have watched many adoptions occur, the happiness of dogs and cats as they leave and seen their immediate bond with their adoptive pet parent.

Thank you for volunteering for over 10 years! We can't accomplish our goals without the help of our volunteers and we are so grateful for you!
I have been a volunteer with the Humane Society of Broward County for 6-7 years. I am assigned to the cattery. Of course, we all love the animals and everyone works so well together. I also have taken part in the showing of animals, dogs and cats, and the Walk for the Animals.
I am also a foster mom for kittens /cats. I have had the most amazing experiences with the abandoned kittens. Some stories are very sad and don't always have a happy ending. However, there are many, many successes! I fostered a kitten with a neurological disorder ,CH, Wobbly kitty. The most amazing baby. The Humane Society goes above and beyond to help these babies find their forever homes. I had a couple of appointments with neurologists to properly diagnose this particular kitten. Once diagnosed, I continued to foster in a more complex capacity. I was considered an ambassador to work to get the right home for him...HE IS HAPPY AND HEALTHY A YEAR LATER IN A VERY LOVING HOME.
Unfortunately, the pandemic has taken a toll on the animals as well. The volunteer program was closed but thankfully we are back! It was tough knowing that the animals only had limited contact with people, especially when so many people had the time on their hands.
I have nothing but happy experiences with the Humane Society of Broward County and will be a long time volunteer.
I also work full time and have 6 pets of my own, anyone can donate a few hours to better the lives of our sweet fur babies.

hsbroward 10/28/2021
Thank you for volunteering your time in the shelter as well as in your home with fosters. Your help makes it possible for so many animals to receive the love and care they need!
This is one of the cleanest, most compassionate facilities that I have visited and had the pleasure of working with. I started as a foster parent and went through their extensive training program before we found our forever pup.
They really work tirelessly to make sue the animals are safe and clean and well cared for. They also work hard to make sure that they vet volunteers to bring the highest quality care. I feel very lucky to be able to adopt with this particular group.

Thank you for sharing your story! We are so grateful to you for fostering and adopting. We are so happy to make a difference for animals AND people in the community!
I have been a volunteer at The Humane Society of Broward County for the past 7 years. The employees and the volunteers go above and beyond to take care of the animals. They treat the animals and the prospective adopters with kindness, great knowledge and respect. It’s a wonderful organization and I look forward to going there every week.

Thank you for volunteering and sharing your story! We are lucky to have so much support from our amazing volunteers who help make sure the animals know they are loved and cared for while waiting for their new homes!
Hsbc does everything possible to attend to our homeless companions through qualified adoption, education, and discount programs and veterinary care.
I have been a volunteer for 7 years now. I started as a dog pal and then couple years ago decided to be a dog walker ! It is rewarding to me to know that I can help a dog feel loved and get them out of their kennels for a little bit . At the end of the day it’s a win win for us both.

hsbroward 10/28/2021
Thank you for sharing your story about volunteering with us. We love our volunteers and we know the dogs get so excited to see the dog walkers coming to give them some extra exercise and fresh air! Thank you for all that you do for the animals!
I rescued Maxiecat from HSBC 17 yrs ago and back then it was a wonderful experience. I also rescued Buddy the Golden Retriever 2 yrs ago and he now volunteers in the education department!!! The shelter is so amazing and professional. I have been volunteering since 2012 with the Humane Society. Great organization on many levels.

hsbroward 10/28/2021
Thank you for sharing your story and for adopting! Buddy is an amazing education dog and the kids are always happy to spend time with him. Thanks for all you do for the animals and kids in our community!
I have been privileged to be a volunteer here for more than six years. My jobs have included work in The Cattery, Cat Pal, and Cats in Progress. I love what I do to help animals find their “forever homes” and have learned so much from the dedicated staff and other volunteers.
My first experience with BCHS took place more than twenty years ago with our first cat adoption. I was so impressed that I volunteered as soon as I retired. The facility is kept immaculately clean and and the cats, dogs, bunnies, and other animals are given first-rate, professional medical care and love and attention. Volunteers are given expert training by the Volunteer Coordinator and are shown appreciation and respect by the staff. There is no better place to volunteer and make a difference!

Thank you for volunteering your time to make a difference for the cats! We know that our feline friends must always feel loved when you are spending time with them. Thank you for sharing your story!

I have been a volunteer at the Humane Society of Broward County for more than five years. I am constantly impressed by the dedication of the entire staff to finding the best “furever” homes for each animal in the shelter. The Volunteer Coordinator makes each of us feel special and much-needed. Despite the multitude of challenges incurred by the COVID epidemic, the mission has never faltered and many animals are now part of loving families because of this nonprofit.
I have fostered for HSBC for years. All staff has always treated me professionally as well as extending lots of care to the animals. I would recommend them wholeheartedly to all!!!

hsbroward 10/28/2021
Thank you for volunteering your time to provide foster care! Our foster animals are often in need of the most attention and we are so grateful for our foster volunteers who help these animals grow strong and healthy for their new families! We couldn't do it without you!
I have always known that when I decided to retire, there was only one place that I wanted to volunteer at which was the Broward Humane Society. It is a joy to walk into the building knowing that everyone has the same purpose as I do which is to make the animals our priority, giving them hugs, rubs, treats and in return,
receive unconditional love. At the end of my shift, I always leave uplifted and can't wait for the next one.

hsbroward 10/28/2021
Thank you for volunteering with us! The animals are so lucky to have caring people like you helping them to feel loved while waiting to find a new home. We couldn't do it without you!
Great place for volunteers and they do a terrific job matching people with pets. They have a good schedule of events to raise money and to educate the public .

hsbroward 10/28/2021
Thank you for volunteering and sharing your story! We are so lucky to have support from our amazing volunteers!
The Humane Society of Broward County is a facility where the animals come first. I'm a volunteer dog walker where my experience is rewarding and at times challenging. So pleasant to enter the building and see it clean and organized. The dogs are in air conditioning where each kennel has a bed, fresh water, toys and adequate food and quality treats. On the volunteer level there is something for everybody and I'm happy to be a part of it!

hsbroward 10/28/2021
Thank you for volunteering your time and sharing your story. We know the dogs LOVE when our dog walkers come to give them extra exercise and time outside! Thanks for all you do for the animals!
I have volunteered as Security since 2019. Our patrons are always amazed at the design and cleanliness of our facility. Working through the tribulations of COVID has been difficult but we continued to adopt out our flock of fur buddies in record numbers. My work there has been very rewarding. Yes, I couldn't resist and adopted a meanie Chiweenie. The photo is Barbara, one of our wonderful volunteer Greeters, holding one of our outgoing pups.

hsbroward 10/28/2021
Thank you for volunteering your time to help keep our animals, volunteers and staff safe! We are sure your adopted pup is keeping you busy on your days off. Thanks for all that you do for the animals!
A wonderful caring place for the animals they take in. Clean and lots of staff and volunteers working hard to make the animals comfortable.

hsbroward 10/28/2021
We are so thankful for volunteers like you who make it possible for us to help so many animals!
I have been a volunteer with the Humane Society of Broward for over 5 years. I've worked as a guide, showing visitors the facility. For the last 3 years my dog & I have participated in the Animal Assisted Therapy at a Senior Daycare Center every week. I feel the staff takes exceptional care with the animals and make sure they get good homes.

hsbroward 10/28/2021
Thank you for volunteering your time in the shelter as well as with the Animal Assisted Therapy program! We are so grateful for your support to help make a difference in the community!
I have donated needed items to the Humane Society for a few years. Friend of mine volunteer there and when I retired, I became a volunteer, as well. It touches me deeply, when I see a dog, cat, rabbit or other animal adopted. The look of joy on the faces of the humans and dogs is something that will stay with me forever.

hsbroward 10/28/2021
Thank you for volunteering and for sharing your story! We love to see that joyful look when an adoption match is made and we couldn't do it without your support!
I've been volunteering here for 2 years and Love it. Everyone loves their jobs. You can tell by the care and details given to the animals!! I tell everyone to Adopt with us.

hsbroward 10/28/2021
Thank you for volunteering and for spreading the word about our amazing adoptable animals. We are so lucky to have the support of volunteers like you!
It is a pleasure to have the privilege of volunteering at the Humane Society of Broward County. The leadership here is motivated, caring, and appreciative of everyone who supports the mission regardless of the contribution. The animals are very well looked after, kennels are kept clean, staff ensure the animals receive appropriate socialization opportunities and enrichment activities, and care procedures and protocols are well-established and obvious to even a casual observer (kennel cards are always present, special feeding schedules are noted, pertinent Information about the animals is made readily available to volunteers who interact with the animals). Several times dogs have come in together from a single household and the organization has worked tirelessly (and on all occasions I know of, successfully) to have them adopted out together. The people here warm my heart just as much as the animals!!!

hsbroward 10/28/2021
Thank you for sharing your story and volunteering your time! We truly could not accomplish all that we do without the hard work from our amazing group of volunteers. We are lucky to have animal lovers like you on our team!
HSBC has become a second family. The staff and volunteers there are such an amazing group of people who are truly passionate about the work they do. I love being a part of a team that not only works to serve the animals they rescue on a daily basis, but also the community that they support both locally and nationally.

hsbroward 10/28/2021
Thank you for all that you do both in and out of the shelter for the animals! We are so grateful for our volunteers and could not do it without you. Your time is the greatest gift and the staff and animals are lucky to receive it!

The Humane Society of Broward County is an INCREDIBLE organization. They go above and beyond to not just get animals adopted, but to create community and give back. They have programs for food distribution, teen clubs. senior clubs, etc. that help the community learn about responsible pet ownership and help to build strong community ties.
I have been volunteering here for 2+ years and could not be prouder of the contributions HSBC makes. Such an amazing organization and spending time there is the best part of my week!

Wonderful organization with caring staff and volunteers. They even offer Community support with the Vaccine Clinic. With expanded funding, they could expand to spay/neutering and grooming.
I really love fostering for the Humane Society of Broward County. The facility is clean and beautiful and the team members are super helpful and nice. The emails that they send out when they have animals in need are so full of personality--it's just wonderful helping save the lives of animals.

We adopted not just one but 2 amazing dogs from the humane society of broward! It was the best experience. The people they are truly care about the animals and both of our dogs were extremely healthy in great shape and so happy to be adopted. Martini did have heartworm but Humane Society of Broward paid for it treated it and she is completely healed now. I highly recommend adopting your dogs from here! We love you HS broward!!!

I've adopted all of my pets from this amazing shelter. They have the kindest and most caring staff. I've wanted to volunteer at the shelter since I was in elementary school! Now in college, my dream came true and I can honestly say it's everything I'd ever dreamed of. Seeing people meet their future best friends and take them home is something you'll never get used to.

Thank you for volunteering - we are so glad this dream came true for you! You are right about not getting used to it - we still get emotional watching animals go home with their new forever families!
We have adopted all of our pets from this shelter the past 10 years. The staff does an amazing job and they did so much for the community during the pandemic. Keep up the great work HSBC!

Thank you for the positive feedback and support. We wish you many happy memories with your adopted family members!
I have worked for the Humane Society for over 28 years. This facility does much more to help the public than anyone would know. They are always thinking of the pets and the quality of their lives. I commend them for all they do. Support them. My dog is from here and I love him .
Looking into taking legal action. I went there with my son to look into adopting a dog that can become his emotional support animal. He had been looking forward to it all day. He is not allowed to wear a mask due to medical issues and I kindly explained it to them after they asked for his age and why he wasn't wearing a mask. We were immediatleymet with a very aggressive and nasty staff, who literally kicked him out. They demanded to see his medical records (which is highly illegal). Never should a child who has any medical condition be made to feel that way.
I have been associated with the shelter for almost 20 years. The shelter has provided many services to the community and been involved with rescuing an enormous amount of animals. While in the shelter these animals receive incredibly competent and compassionate care until they are adopted. The shelter does a great job of promoting adoptions. I myself have adopted 3 pure bred Afghan Hounds that have been the most incredible companions to my wife an myself. I'm attaching a picture of my current rescue (of 3 years), Kobi, a five-six year old Afghan Hound. We love him dearly and he has made getting through these tough time alot easier.
I have been a volunteer here for 20 years. This organization not only saves animals by adopting them out to loving homes, they also provide low cost vaccines and microchipping (and, before the pandemic, low cost spay and neuter) and humane education. They take in animals from other shelters and from hoarding situations from time to time. This shelter survives solely on donations and does a fabulous job with its limited resources

I have been a volunteer at the Humane Society of Broward County for over 18 years and witness first hand the excellent work done by this organization. We bring in animals from other shelters and adopt out thousands of animals every year. In addition to adoptions, there are many programs offered by the shelter such as humane education for children, pet therapy, camps for children, low cost spay and neuter, and others too numerous to list.
The Humane Society of Broward County is amazing. They go above and beyond to get their animals rescued. The staff and volunteers are always so friendly and helpful. Friends and relatives along with myself have always adopted from there and we couldn’t be happier.
The Humane Society of Broward County goes above and beyond to get animals adopted. We have two new babies from there and we couldn’t be happier. The staff there is amazing, helpful and caring! The Marketing team is always looking for new ways to reach potential adopters. We love the Humane Society of Broward County.
I am so proud to be part of this organization, in so many ways, for so many reasons. Adoptions -YES, they are one of the best at what they do and to educate the community on the care of their new fur baby, no matter what the breed is. They even have a foster care program greater than others to care for the little ones and special need ones till they are ready to go up for adoption with no time limit. How awesome is that!!
For the clinic and outpatient services, I have seen this first hand on the good they do for the dogs, cats and community. Low cost vaccinations, spays and neuters, not to mention special care for those who cant afford it at a Vet's office, most of the time HSBC can help or find help. They have some great Dr's who are doing great things.
The Education department is so creative in teaching and assisting our little humans, adult humans and the seniors on caring for pets at home and spreading the word across our communities. Something as fun as a birthday party even has a little lesson in pet care and the kids love it! The Day camps, Summer Camps, and the many Clubs they offer are all so amazing, spaces fill up so fast cause every kid wants to come and join in. Even the new Parents of babies and Toddlers have a class to join. Another special section of the Education dept. is the Animal Assisted Therapy Group (AAT). This group of staff and volunteers with their pets are more than amazing to go out into the community and help those and be with them in time of need. Many Senior homes, hospitals, first responders and of course the Parkland tragedy all have had the benefits of animal assisted therapy time. They were out there in the parkland area for months, helping them get through the terrible tragedy they had to endure and still till this day work closely with schools in Broward county who has the need for animal therapy, education and puppy love. Who doesn't like puppy love!!
As for their fundraisers to keep the shelter going, it takes a village, a community of donors, and some terrific events to keep this spectacular shelter working smooth. They could not do it with out the generosity of our loving community. From the littlest of events at an festival in a park, a baseball game, holiday events and a few Auxiliaries to the amazing WALK for the ANIMALS. This will be the 29th year for the Walk and it gets better every year. I've seen the same sponsors stick around for a long time, what more can I say about the Walk. Seeing is believing.
I will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart for the Humane Society of Broward County.
I adopted both of my sweet, wonderful dogs from this shelter. The staff is well-informed and compassionate. I love how they have so many services on-site (like vaccines, obedience training, and pet supplies for sale), so if I ever need anything - I know where to go! Plus, if they don't offer a service, they're always willing to offer advice.
I never thought I’d ever get another dog... and boom Ace came into our lives. Not only did the Hunane Society help us afterwards, they were the nicest and most understanding staff. It was also the cleanest facility I’ve ever seen.
Always friendly and efficient getting our pup his yearly shots. Nice , caring folks. Nice to visit a place that truly cares about the animals!!
Awesome experience they helped me find the sweetest kitten ive ever seen. Very friendly environment and the adoption process went quite smooth. Plus they gave me a lot of tips and information for taking care of my first pet. Im sure I will be back to rescue another pet soon.
I have been a volunteer with the Humane Society of Broward County (“HSBC”) since 2009. I have always loved volunteering at the HSBC and the HSBC’s management is very warm and encouraging to, and supportive of, its volunteers. There has not been one day on which I was assigned to volunteer that I have not wanted to be volunteer.
The HSBC does many amazing things for the community, including educational seminars with dogs at hospitals and schools, taking in rescues from other shelters, providing a behavioral hotline for pet owners, providing low cost spay, neuter and vaccines, giving children the chance to interact with dogs and cats at an early age and to learn the proper care of animals, and providing pet therapy animals in time of a community’s need (like Parkland). I have had the pleasure of informing visitors to the HSBC of the HSBC’s goals and accomplishments, whenever a visitor has questions or needs a brochure. The HSBC also has a Pet Boutique where quality supplies can be purchased at a reasonable cost for one’s dog, cat, rabbit, hamster, gerbil or ferret.
More importantly, the HSBC was the source of one of my beloved dogs who I adopted when he was 8 years old and who died at age 15.
I am a volunteer and I also adopted my dog from the Humane Society in January 2017. He is an adorable Yorkie, very cuddly and calm, perfect for seniors like my husband and I. I feel more secure knowing that he has a microchip and they gave him a dental before he came home with me.♥️♥️♥️
The Humane Society of Broward County is where I met the most lovable dog of my life! Queenie has made my life complete. She is the best companion that I could have ever asked for.
As far as the shelter, what an amazing place. I see how well the animals are cared for. This may have not been the path they've chosen, but boy are they lucky to have ended up here. They go above and beyond to make sure these lovable pets find the right home.
My 1st adopted dog came from the Humane Society of Broward County. He was a senior gentleman whose skin was stretched over a skeleton & missing a few teeth. The Humane Society took him in & gave me the opportunity to bring him into our home. His great personality soon emerged, he picked up a couple of 'girlfriends' in our neighborhood & his life began (again). Hitting the sidewalk, going to the park, checking to see if his girlfriends were home were simple pleasures that he looked forward to every day of his life with us. We are beyond grateful for the all of the experiences we shared with him.
Caring staff, beautiful new facility that is clean and welcoming, great care given to the animals. They have a ton of great service they offer in the community, too. I have adopted two dogs and two cats here over the years, highly recommend!
We absolutely love the Humane Society of Broward County. We have been lucky enough to have adopted several amazing dogs, cats and rabbits over the years from them. Our most recent adoptions is Mike our Yorkie and Snookie our Chihuhua who are both seniors. We are thankful that the Humane Society of Broward County gave these senior dogs an opportunity to have a forever home in their later years. We are so glad that they are part of our family now. Keep up the amazing work!
I lost my dog,my baby Chino, who was a pit bull mix and he was my world a few months ago and literally felt like my heart had been ripped in half.In honor of him I did a birthday fundraiser for the Humane Society of Broward.I went to the Humane Society shortly after he passed and it was just too soon for me to adopt, but it broke my heart to see all the babies who needed a good loving home. This week I decided that it was the right time to adopt, and I met Blue,a gorgeous, sweet, loving pit bull who had been surrendered by his owners and been at the shelter since June. They told me that he had been destructive at home and that is why they surrended him. I knew he was meant to be mine, just had to get my roommate to meet him. I put him on a hold, and we went back the next day and adopted him!! Blue is already part of our family. He is such a great boy. Super smart, loving and so grateful to be in his furever home!! I can not say enough about how wonderful everyone who works there is,and also to Dolly's Dreams,an organization that works with several Humane Societies in Florida sponsoring pit bulls. The adoption fee was waived, and they gave us food,a harness as well as $100 to spend in the boutique there on toys, treats, anything you could possibly need.I could not be happier! My heart is filled with joy again. Definitely adopt, don't shop for your next pet. The Humane Society has the perfect dog, cat, bunny, hamster or ferret you could possibly want. They are the place to go if you are looking to add a fur baby to your family. Thank you again Broward Humane Society for giving me the greatest gift I could ever ask for!!♥️♥️♥️

Thank you so much for giving your time and love to your foster animals. It makes such a positive impact on their futures and helps us to care for and find homes for as many animals as possible! We love our volunteers!!!
