What a group of loving individuals that put the care of so many dogs and cats as their #1 priority!!! Continually and responsibly reaching out to the local population for foster families and adoption families. Taking time from their own families to take dogs out to meet the Public in hopes to find a good family. Such an impressive group of people and organization.

Our Anne has been a joy! She helped fill a void when we lost our Elvis. Viva (Elvis’ sister) has come to terms with Anne!

The process was easy and the fee charged was well worth the cost for all that was done!

I have never been to a nicer cleaner shelter . It doesn’t smell. The cats have nice rooms to live and play in . The dogs have runs and big fenced in areas to play . Very nice meet and greet room . The employees love their job of taking care and playing with the animals . Staff is very compassionate !!!!!!!

I adopted a little coonhound pointer mix from HSBR about 4 years ago. She had been stray a long time - maybe her whole life. HSBR saw her sweet soul and brought her in and we’re surprised when they realized she was pregnant - she was so skinny it was surprising. But they took care of her - even going to let her out for bathroom breaks in the middle of the night when she was close to term. And then when she wasn’t the best mom, they patiently helped her and then did their own work with the puppies so they’d grow up well socialized and confident. When everyone was weaned and spayed, Emma came home with us. And she has taught me so much about life and rising to challenges. She is t what you’d call an easy dog, but she is a dog who makes you a better human. She has run obstacle races and trail races with me in every distance from 5k to 15k. I took up bikejor because she needed a faster outlet, and she competed in the south’s first sled dog race and pulled us to a second place finish in Alabama’s first sled dog race. Every year since we’ve adopted her, we’ve gone back for the Halloween parade and festival sponsored by HSBR, and Emma is always and still so happy and excited to see anyone from the humane society. And that tells me everything I need to know. They found us an amazing dog, and that dog loves them when she barely loves anyone. So I know they’re doing good work!

We had the most wonderful experience adopting our new fur Baby we named Blu. Brandy and the rest of the staff responded to all my messages and made the process to adopt very easy. A volunteer named Kristy Young, was kind enough to foster Blu until she was officially ours. Since Blu was just a puppy, we really appreciated that extra comfort for Blu to be looked after in a home. Blu received all her shots at the Humane Society of Blue Ridge and ready for her first vet visit with our local Veterinarian. We are Thankful to everyone who had a hand in finding her and caring for her until she became ours. This is an exceptional place with kindhearted people.

We lost our ginger cat, Peaches, in June 2021. She was twenty years old and her loss hit me very hard. My husband urged me to visit HSBR to see if it would alleviate some of my grieving. I saw an orange boy, Dominic, on one of my visits. He was young and hadn’t been neutered yet. We went back again and Dominic ran to the door of the room he was in, as if he was saying “are you back for me?” We fostered him that day and went on to adopt him a few weeks later. He is lovable, energetic and full of personality. We take him with us to most places we go. He has been a good adoption. I would like a second cat as a friend for him and am currently looking at HSBR for sister for him.

We adopted a cat from The Humane Society Of Blue Ridge. She was the secretary at the front because she had anxiety. Around other cats. Her name is Charley. She was brought to HSBR by a older lady who was going into a senior living facility. All the staff loved her . She was the boss literally. When we adopted her she came with her own little purse literally. Also Prozac. Can’t forget the anxiety medicine. I think she was honestly waiting for our family. We keep in touch with the Humane Society’ Of Blue Ridge, and some of its staff members who helped us out with Charley when needed. This non profit is the kindest non profit organization ever. When we were bringing her home every staff member came out to say goodbye. This cat was there for 4yrs, and to see how much she was loved by everyone made us feel loved by everyone. We donated to HSBR on behalf of Charley and tried to go up there to volunteer. One day. Charley with her time there loved it from pictures that were either sent to us or were in her folder she was the boss kitty. Recently we had a medical scare with Charley that resulted in going to the ER. I kept in touch with Brandi who is the office manager about past medical stuff involving Charley as Charley even though was at our local vet here in Ellijay. She was still registered at the vet HSBR uses in case of emergency. HSBR have helped us the first few months we had Charley with a lot . Charley has turned into a daddy’s girl literally. her vocal range has expanded. She’s loving funny silly. Loves attention and loves to be the boss. We appreciate HSBR so much and hopefully one day we can get up there to volunteer. The staff are kind wonderful caring volunteers and staff. We kept in touch with some of them thru Facebook so they can see Charley. This is a wonderful organization that cares about their animals. Charley agrees. They even introduced us to Charley’s new vet bribe Churu.

These people work hard and all seem to enjoy their work. Over the years I don't think I've seen so many cats and dogs that have gotten adopted to good homes. From the Thrift Store that supports the Humane Society of Blue Ridge to the actual shelter, there are so many volunteers and employees that really care about the animals.

Even though I was once a volunteer, I adopted to cats myself and have never regretted it.

They were absolutely a pleasure to work with. We adopted our pup from them and the process was simple and they followed up for the rest of her shots and getting fixed. Everyone was super nice and pleasant. If we get another pet, we will definitely be visiting them!

Years ago, before I became active in dog rescue, I found a small puppy by the side of the road. Unable to keep him myself, I began checking with local shelters and rescues. I kept getting turned away, if they even bothered to respond to my inquiries at all. There was only one rescue that not only replied, but offered to take the puppy and find him a home- that was the Humane Society of Blue Ridge. Within days, I was able to surrender little AJ and meet the staff. He was quickly adopted by a loving family. Since that day, the facility has been revamped and is a model of what a shelter should be. The staff and volunteers are dedicated to the happiness and welfare of the dogs and cats that they rescue. If I ever had to surrender my own dog, this would be the only one I would consider.
