I have been a trustee of the Human Needs Food Pantry for over 25 years. It has filled a vital role for distributing groceries and clothing in our community and for the surrounding towns. We have grown from serving two dozen families in the 1980's to more than 500 families = more than 2,000 bags of food each month. By keeping our expenses to a minimum, almost all our raised funds go directly for our clients's needs. The support we receive from individuals, schools, religious institutions, civic organizations, sports clubs, etc has been fantastic. Food drives play a big role in supplementing the perishable goods we must purchase. Large donations from wonderful individuals help pay for fresh vegetables and meats/poultry. How can I not continue on the Board of such a worthwhile charity.
I have been a volunteer at the Human Needs Food Pantry for over a decade, and I have seen firsthand the difference the organization has made in the lives of hundreds of people. Clients are treated with compassion and respect. The pantry is a very lean operation, with low overhead, so that over 90 cents of every donor dollar goes directly to helping the hungry. In addition to food, the pantry gives away clothing and household goods, as well as pet food and baby supplies like diapers and wipes.
