Mission: The Hemostasis and Thrombosis Research Society (HTRS) is a nonprofit, tax-exempt professional medical society comprised of physicians, scientists, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory professionals, and other health care providers, dedicated to advancing the care for people with bleeding and thrombotic disorders through investigator-initiated research, mentoring, and continuing medical education. Contributions in the form of dues, grants, or other financial support are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Begun in 1989, HTRS obtained its non-profit status in 1994.
Results: HTRS has provided more than $3 million in research grants to fund 21 young physician investigators through the HTRS Mentored Research Award Program, established in 2007. HTRS has held seven Scientifc Symposia since 2006, and continues to provide this 2 day professional education event biennially. The next Symposium will be April 16 -18, 2015 in New Orleans. HTRS also holds one-day educational workshops before national meetings (ASH and HTRS Symposia/THSNA) for physicians considering/beginning a career in benign hematology.
