The Hoyt Center for the Arts is a cultural jewel in the crown of our community. The programs offered appeal not only to local residents but also throughout western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio. Children, especially those not exposed to art at home, are encouraged to let their imaginations soar. The artistic displays are of a caliber found only in large cities and the mansions used for the displays are a tourist destination in themselves. We are so fortunate to have the Hoyt Center in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania.
The Hoyt has been a part of our family for a number of years, and we have come to appreciate the richness it offers to a semi-urban landscape where the arts and their practitioners are celebrated for their powerful role in civil society. It is not just a place for artsy show-and-tells. It does that very well, but it is also a place that provides instruction for various artforms, including photography, languages, etc. All of these are available to children and adults of all backgrounds, which ensures the social continuity of the softer skills in what has become a rude world.
New Castle is fortunate to have the fine facility and programming presented at The Hoyt Center for the Arts. The quality of educational programming for all ages and the high level of various types of visual art showcased is remarkable for a small town under financial difficulties. The fine reputation of The Hoyt Center is wide spread, artists from across the country vie to show here. The collaborative efforts of the Hoyt with other fine galleries and museums have offered this community outstanding opportunities to immerse itself in the world of art and to enjoy presentations by well known as well as regional and locally recognized artists. Aside from the visual arts, the programming agenda offers a variety of classes in all areas of the arts from language classes, student programming, dance classes and much much more. The Hoyt Center for the Arts is a gift to our community.
