A wonderful concept. Controlling leadership, tied up for the entire history of the organization in one family and close knit group of friends/board members and business associations. Financials and decision making by the board not fully transparent, lines fuzzy or stretched. Fines levied by local government for misconduct during my tenure, and other uncomfortable information were withheld from membership by the board, I was asked to comply. Reasons given were "they wouldn't understand anyway", "don't want to alarm them", "not a big deal", "can of worms". Alternate viewpoints suppressed or discouraged. Despite my personal belief in the mission, I could not continue based on my discomfort with their process.
