Mission: At Houston Rabbit Resource, our unwavering mission is to bring an end to the heartbreaking reality of abandoned and stray domestic rabbits. We strive to create a brighter future for these innocent beings through a comprehensive three-pillared approach encompassing rescue, foster, adoption, education, and community support programs. Central to our mission is our dedicated rescue program, where our compassionate team of rabbit wranglers use their training to rescue and provide first aid to rabbits in need. We believe that every rabbit deserves a chance at a life filled with love and care, and we fervently work towards offering them a sanctuary away from the perils of abandonment. Foster care stands as a crucial pillar in our endeavor to rehabilitate and nurture rescued rabbits. By placing them our fully vetted, trained, and caring foster homes, we offer these rabbits an opportunity to heal both physically and emotionally. These loving environments provide them with a sense of security, fostering the trust and confidence they need to recover from their traumatic past and rekindle their innate joy and playfulness. Through our adoption program, we embark on the fulfilling journey of finding the perfect forever homes for each rabbit under our care. We understand that a successful adoption is not merely about finding any home, but about ensuring a lifelong commitment of love and responsibility. Our stringent screening process and ongoing support for adopters are aimed at ensuring that each rabbit finds a home where they will be cherished as a beloved member of the family. While our efforts make a significant impact on an individual level, we are also committed to enacting positive systemic change through education such as our virtual bunny basics courses. By raising awareness about responsible rabbit ownership, proper care, and the devastating consequences of abandonment, we endeavor to build a compassionate and informed community that advocates for the welfare of these gentle creatures. In our unwavering commitment to make a difference, we extend our support to the community through programs such as free rabbit food banks and low-cost vaccine clinics. By offering these vital resources, we aim to alleviate the financial burden on caregivers, ensuring that rabbits receive the nutrition and medical care they need to thrive. None of our efforts would be possible without the support and collaboration of our community. The collective dedication of compassionate individuals, local businesses, and devoted volunteers fortifies our mission and fuels our unwavering determination to make a lasting impact. Houston Rabbit Resource stands as a resolute voice for the voiceless, pioneering a path towards a future where no rabbit is left abandoned or uncared for. With each rescue, each foster home, each adoption, and every educational initiative, we take a step closer to breaking the cycle of neglect and ushering in a new era of compassion and care for rabbits.

I accidentally came across this group and so very glad I did. I recently went through a very difficult time with one of my bonded pair of rabbits falling ill. They were able to guide me through what to do to help her until she could see a rabbit savvy vet. I followed their advice and kept Jasmine comfortable. She went through 2 weeks of treatment for an upper respiratory issue and got the all clear for her lungs. Unfortunately she had a sudden turn 4 days later and passed due to heart failure. Rabbits can be very fragile when ill and it takes a village . HRR is that village. I am privileged to volunteer with this amazing group.

Best rabbit rescue in Houston. Very active group providing outreach to the Houston and surrounding area for fostering, adopting, bonding, care ( nail clips and brushing) as well as supplies. Excellent group to volunteer with. They have recently partnered with the Houston SPCA to help socialize potential rabbits for adoption and to act as a resource to potential adopters. Attached photo is a recent event held in October 2023

This is such a wonderful group of people who truly care about rabbits! I have learned so much from them through adoption and fostering. Their heart to teach and help others was evident from the first time I contacted them. This organization uses many talents and connections to take in and find homes for so many rabbits. With many amazing volunteers coming together, I look forward to seeing the continued impact this rescue will have for Houston rabbits!

Houston Rabbit Resource is like a family. A family that is connected by their love of rabbits. They all love to help rabbits and they love to help those who help rabbits.

They reach out to the community in so many ways. They do their best to educate people about rabbits, online with classes and info, and offline with events and classes.

They have a lot of fun and it's just such a great team of volunteers. I am excited to see what the future hold for Houston Rabbit Resource!

Houston Rabbit Resource is a very dedicated and community oriented rescue. It’s members actively engage the community through various events such as craft fairs and free education seminars which can be held in English and/or Spanish with corresponding written materials. It also engages with area animal shelters that may not be as comfortable with rabbits as they are with dogs and cats. Houston Rabbit Resource hosts low cost RDHV2 vaccine clinics that are open to the adoptive parents as well as to the public. HRR’s main focus is on the health and well-being of each rabbit in its care, and believes that a well educated community should be an integral part of that focus for every rabbit’s benefit.

I’ve been working with this rescue since its inception. Born out of a great need for more kind-hearted people to rescue, recover and then adopt domestic rabbits that had been dumped in Houston. But they do so much more! Education, re-homing, proper sexing, adoption events, speed-dating, bonding help, mass spay and neuters, grooming, special marketing events/fundraisers and a bunny Buttique!!
It’s truly remarkable how much they’ve grown since they began a few years ago into a premier resource for all things rabbit related!!

Houston Rabbit Resource has helped me find fall in love with a bun after losing mine to liver cancer. I never thought I'd want another bun unless he looked exactly like him and acted like him, but we were introduced to sweet lil Trick because he was being kicked out of his home and we fell. We always say our bun must have said something to him because he is just what we needed in our home.

I’m so fortunate HRR came into my life! The team is so sweet and friendly, and it’s evident how much each person cares about what they do. They’re giving another chance at life and finding loving homes for so many bunnies, and I’ve also learned so much about bunny ownership from them!
They inspired me to get involved too, and I absolutely love getting to volunteer alongside these caring individuals. They make me want to me the best rabbit owner and animal advocate I can be.
Most importantly, thanks to HRR I have a new furry friend in my little family!
