Mission: Through advocacy and fundraising, the houston public library foundation supports the houston public library's wide range of initiatives with particular emphasis on its neighborhood libraries and their community programs.
Programs: The houston public library foundation's goals include raising the profile of the houston public library's essential role in our community and raising significant funds to enable hpl to provide enhanced services and facilities for the community. The houston public library foundation supports the houston public library by providing grants in support of operating expenses, such as books, tutoring and literacy programs, and physical improvements to the buildings.
hplf has a volunteer group called the friends of houston public library which collects donated used books and sells the books at events during the year. The friends also operate a scholarship program for houston public library employees who wish to further their education in the library field.
