Mission: 1. To receive gifts, contributions & grants of money or property from individuals, private organizations, public sources and any agency of the city of houston or the state of texas or of the usa and to apply, pay over or disburse those gifts, contributions and grants or their proceeds for the benefit of the people residing, working or visiting in the city of houston with this objective furthered by funding, assisting or undertaking programs and activities designed to strengthen the services, organization, performance, competence and professionalism of the police department of the city of houston (the "police department") and its officers and members. 2. To pursue independent research, studies, projects and programs to assist and improve the police department and its facilities, operations, effectiveness, membership and the public understanding thereof, whether initiated or conducted by the corporation, or the police department, or its membership or otherwise.
Programs: Adopt a horse - support for the houston mounted patrol
adopt a canine - support for the houston canine unit
promoted awareness of the houston police department to the general public, including police week, a week dedicated to honor police officers and increase public understanding of the department.
