Causes: Job Training

Mission: At HoustonWorks USA, our mission is to meet the demands of Greater Houston-area employers, provide area residents with strong employment opportunities, and support regional efforts to recruit employers with the need for skilled, high-wage employees while strengthening and improving local communities.

Programs: Wia-adult\youth: the general purpose of these programs is to prepare eligible unskilled adults and youth for the labor force which includes basic academic remediation as well as occupational training

the temporary assistance to needy families (tanf) employment services program is to move families from welfare to work through the provision of work-related services that promote independence from welfare.

wia dislocated workers: assistance to workers at any economic level due to layoff, plant closings and downsizing. Also provides training related services such as job search, job development, etc.

a variety of programs including: working directly with companies to provide customized recruiting and pre screening of applicants, houstonworks usa strongly benefits the houston business community. Disaster assistance program providing long-term, post disaster case management services to families that reside in harris county and are still experiencing the effects of hurricane ike. Stem institute providing middle school and high school students an opportunity to advance their knowledge of science, technology, engineering and mathematics during a four week stem acceleration experience. Youthbuild program provides houston's youth a program that will assist them with academic instruction, vocational skills, occupational skills, and community service and leadership development. Youth empowerment & success (yes) program work with youth in the harris county juvenile probation system and their families to reduce crime and increase their ability to successfully function within the home, workplace and community. Child care assistance for low-income families to make systemic investments in quality child care to promote child development and learning; and creating a system that is child focused, family friendly, and fair to providers.
