House of Mercy and Encouragement works collaboratively with children, families, and community partners. It takes a village to ensure children are supported and given equitable opportunities to reach their highest potential. As someone who regularly works with multidisciplinary partners throughout Pinellas County, I knew from the moment I connected with House of Mercy and Encouragement that the staff genuinely care about people and work tirelessly to ensure that the communities in which children and their families live, work, and play are supported by skilled professionals who are nurturing and accessible.
The House of Mercy and Encouragement (H.O.M.E.) is an amazing organization that provides much needed services to families, children and individuals in a very comforting environment. As a volunteer, I have experienced the joy and satisfaction of clients who have accessed care at HOME. I am impressed that clients are able to access care no matter the income level.
We loved working with Dolores, her care for our son was so deep. Although she has left us, we have been elated to continue with Gianna. We feel so blessed to have two amazing caretakers for our son as he struggles with anxiety. The therapists are always available to chat and are quick to respond to our concerns. They have not only taken care of our son, but have even done sessions with our other children. They approach our family holistically.
We couldn't feel more blessed!
H.O.M.E has saved my family. When my son was struggling in school with behavior they were exactly what we needed! The guidance they gave us over the last 6 years has gotten us so far. The social skills and behavior therapy has helped my son become the kid whose friends are saying he’s funny, smart & always nice… descriptions I would not have seen in his future without H.O.M.E.
Everyone on staff are amazing caring people. They take the time and truly help. Can’t recommend enough!
I was blessed enough to find this amazing H.O.M.E while my family was going through significant family life changes and my sons needed help with processing through the affects that devastated our family. Dolores was so helpful and supportive of our needs and fit us with the most amazing therapist, Dr. Sam. He ended up helping not only my sons, but myself as well. We would not have been able to have made it through this most difficult time without the blessing of Dolores and her supportive and empathetic staff. God really blessed us when he guided us here. I highly recommend everyone I know personally, and in my professional field to find their way here as well. My family still deals with the aftermath but we are much better equipped emotionally to handle whatever lies ahead for us. I can’t thank everyone enough.
The therapists on site have such a deep connection with their clients and families. Their care for them and their growth is evident. It truly is a home!
I can't thank Delores and the team at HOME enough for setting my son on the right path when he was in elementary school. Today he is a college senior with a bright future ahead of him. I'm thankful that I was able to tell her personally what an impact she had on his life. I'm also thankful for this opportunity to tell everyone else how wonderful HOME is.
H.O.M.E. has a great reputation for providing warm and skillful therapy to its clients and the community at large. The therapists and staff are deeply engaged with their clients in order to provide a high level of care. The nonprofit has also offered group therapy sessions, as well as hosted a successful conference focused on mental health topics.
Their conference hosted last year was spectacular. The speakers were knowledgeable and the work HOME did to share so much with us was impressive!
We have received amazing care at HOME both as individuals and as a family. We are always able to count on receiving compassionate, heartfelt empathy and guidance. The quality of care we receive, I think, is rooted in decades of experience and the compassionate mindset of leadership. I also have to compliment the support staff - they are fantastic. I really appreciate the lengths they go to to make sure you're taken care of.

I donate to organizations that make good use of my contributions and provide critical help to people in need. HOME always exceeds my expectations. The work they do has lasting impacts on so many children who often seem to be overwhelmed by their environment and without hope due to their circumstances. I have referred clients in the past and will continue to do so. I have donated to them in the past and will continue to do so. Whether you are looking for counseling for your child or looking for a worthy cause to support, there is no place like HOME!
When I retired, I was looking for something meaningful to do. I remember how inspired I was by "Coffee with the Counselor" and offered my services at H.O.M.E. What a beautiful, incredible experience to work with such loving, devoted people. Starting with the faith and example of caring by Dolores, down through the counselors and staff, this is truly "Christianity in Action". I am so blessed to be part of this beautiful organization.
I brought my daughter here for testing and tutoring. She struggled during the year and her school was suggesting we hold her back. After being tested, the psychologist and tutors were able to come up with a plan to get her on level. They also helped us develop a 504 with the school so my daughter would get accommodations for the following school year. She is doing great and I couldn't be more thankful!
The tender loving care I received from Dolores helped me through one of the most difficult transitions of my life. I feel comforted knowing she is there if I need her listening, compassionate presence. She is a saint!
I advised my friend to take his son to House of Mercy and Encouragement and he has had nothing but praise since going. His son loves Delores and everyone there and looks forward to going each week.

We are so grateful for House of Mercy. We received help adjusting to a new school from Delores, who is so compassionate and able to put children and adults at ease. Sarah is helping us with math this year and is amazing. Lindsay goes out of her way to help us make appointments and is so kind. I highly recommend House of Mercy to all my friends.
H.O.M.E is so amazing I have been fortunate enough to have been seeing Delores and her professional team for many years. Delores’s HOME scholarships help me through some hard times. Scholarship or not Delores would always be willing to do whatever was needed no matter what. I love to sit in her waiting room and watch the kids come in so excited to see Mrs.Dolores, and staff. Everyone on staff are super at what they do. Family's come out smiling. This is definitely a place you can call home.
House of Mercy helped two of my daughters during their teen years, specially my older one. In days I felt lost as a parent, this organization was the light in the darkness, It gave me the tools I needed during challenging times. I also benefited from their financial assistance, because money was very tight at that time. My daughters participated in therapy groups, individual therapy and other programs. It was a blessing for us !!!!
We also love to volunteer at their fundraiser , and try to give some back to them .
I have recommended H.O.M.E to many friends and families. My gratitude is infinite towards them, and there are no words to express how thankful I am for everything Dolores and her team did for my family.
We have benefited from the work and ministry of House of Mercy and Encouragement through the years. Individual sessions and group sessions have helped to keep our family healthy. We would not be able to function without the tools that Dolores and her staff have given us. She never let money get in the way of the care she provided. I can't say enough about the quality, care and dedication of H.O.M.E.
After a very difficult divorce, my daughter started showing many behavoiral issues and it was causing many problems for her both at school and home. I was so thankful to find H.O.M.E. and have the opportunity to have my daughter receive counseling from Susan, whom is an angel from GOD, without a doubt! My daughter is doing so much better now and is thriving in school. I can NOT say enough great things about Susan and the entire staff!! They have been a life saver!
As a family served and now a tutor for HOME, I can share that they are the most compassionate, professional, and caring nonprofit I have ever worked with. You are welcomed and treated like family, and they will make every effort possible to help you with any of your needs. Thank you HOME!
I absolutely love my sessions with Susan O'neil. She challenges me, and cares about my wellbeing. I couldn't be happier with this program. I highly recommend
I've done counseling session with Susan and she is a true joy. Great listener and truly has helped me with whatever issue I need to talk about. Had previously worked with her at a different facility, but I have to say that the House of Mercy and Encouragement have a great bunch of people working for them.
The art group allows everyone to feel safe to express themselves and open up. Everyone is so kind and helpful .
House of Mercy and Encouragement is a lighthouse in the community; offering a wellspring of support and hope. Delores and the variety of counselors are motivated with compassionate and sincerity in the services that they provide. I highly recommend this nonprofit.
HOME is such a delightful counseling office. The caring staff is welcoming to all. The building is a playground of therapy building materials that you can’t help but want to enjoy as a child. There is also a calming presence that is soothing for all who enter. I have referred many families to this practice with no hesitations as a School Counselor working at a local school. Dolores is a wealth of knowledge and she loves to share and teach. I am experiencing this as she is supervising me as I move my Counseling license to Florida. Be it mentoring, counseling, or community support you can find it all at HOME!
H.O.M.E. is a loving, nurturing, faith-filled, professional organization. It truly is a ministry that makes children and families feel safe while improving the lives of each person it touches and serves. Dolores, her therapists and staff are so kind and really care about every individual they meet and work incredibly hard in helping each one.
House of Mercy and Encouragement is a wonderful counseling center. The founder, Dolores Mortimer, has created a place that fosters healing and growth. I am a counselor who has worked in several practices, but HOME is truly different. The care that is extended to the clients is also extended to the volunteers and staff. I feel fortunate to be part of an organization that provides respect , good care and counseling expertise while maintaining an open and gracious heart.
What with the world today, a place like "Home" fills a great need and builds on a future for our youngest generation.
I can’t say enough good things about this organization. You can walk through the doors as the name suggests and feel at home and that they love my children as their own. The number of services they offer, their scholarship programs, and their professionalism really sets them apart. Highly recommend!
HOME is definitely where you can find heart and professional excellence. From the people working the front desk to the counselors and tutors, everyone works to make a positive difference in the lives of the children and families who walk through the door. As an educator, I have referred many families looking for support to Dolores and the folks at HOME. Each time I am impressed with the progress, and peace my children and their families experience!
The House of Mercy and Encouragement is an amazing place to work through issues and hardships that come with life. The therapists and staff truly believe in the work we do to help our children and families. I have worked here for 11 years. The dedication, time and love Dolores has devoted shows when former clients come back to thank her for the help and support she gave them during difficult times. It's an honor to be a part of such a special organization!
HOME is perfectly named- it is a place that children and parents feel safe and loved and supported. Dolores earns her wings every day and God is present within those walls. Always and forever in our hearts.
