House of Charity is a very loving and caring charity. They play a very big part in giving charity all over the world, and also locally. I am very proud to be able to work with such a great foundation.

I recently volunteered with this agency and had a wonderful experience. Its great to see an organization that is not only helping the local neighborhoods but also helping our global community. It was amazing to see the smiles on all the childrens faces, who dispite the adversity they are facing are so hopeful for the future, this is thanks to the kind hearts at The House of Charity.

In these moments I am taking the opportunity and honor to be working with such a prestigious Organization and transparent as it is the House of Charity of Houston, TX. The work they are doing with its program of Resource Aid Global is extraordinary. Breaking down the barriers of the distances, culture and language. The House of Charity is bringing humanitarian assistance over the globe. It is amazing all the help that Mrs. Hashmat Effendi has the ability to coordinate to help the neediest children no matter where you are. From my point of view personal and professional level, I would whish to have more organizations such as The House of Charity or more human beings as Hashmat Effendi to fight so much poverty and sad circumstances that exist in this world.

As a person who is in Houston Tx. due to hurricane displacement, I would like to give my honest opinion of this God-sent organization. After arriving I was put in touch with a lady by the name of Hashmat Effendi at The House Of Charity, unaware of the fact that I was actually going to meet an angel and going to heaven. This woman of mercy cloth, fed and saw that I was housed at a place called the Healing Home, which I found out later was a charitable organization which helped poor and severely burned children irregardless of race and religion. I found out later, that this kind soul was the CEO of the org. thank you so much HOC. I wish that we had a person and org like yours in every state, again, thank you madam H Effendi for giving me the new-found faith in the human race. Houston Texas you are blessed to have The House Of Charity and The Healing Home.

On Tuesday August 21, 2012 I had the opportunity to meet Ms. Effendi, Executive Director, Ms. Ramirez Resource Aid Manager and other staff of The House of Charity. I was very impressed with the awards The House of Charity received for laboring to meet the needs of others. Learning of all they do to help others was proved this is a very compassionate organization especially the love and aid to the children. THC truly helped my church during Educational Resource Distribution Day, as we helped the children in our church prepare for a new school year. Items received from THC helped those families less fortunate. THC is a GREAT organization that makes a difference not to any particular organization, race, religion but to anyone and everyone.

On behalf of the Mt. Calm Missionary Baptist Church and my pastor Bishop Eugene Butler Sr., we are all so blessed and thankful that the House of Charity was able to bless our children and needy with school supplies and hygiene packets. It was truly a blessing to the body of Christ to witness all of those adults and children especially with there needs met. So on the behalf of the Mount Calm Missionary Baptist Church Family we thank and solute all affiliates and sponsors off the House of Charity(Houston Texas) sincerely yours Rev. Jerry Thompson Jr.
I had the opportunity to work on a voluntary basis with this organization and I'm really impressed with all the help that they are providing to the Houston community. Regardless, race, culture or language, The House of Charity is doing Is doing a remarkable job. I definitely recommend the community in Houston, is more involved, both for help on a voluntary basis as in economic donations for which this Agency can continue completing their goals for the benefit of needy families
The House of Charity Is doing a remarkable job. I definitely recommend the community in Houston, to get more involved, to help on a voluntary basis as in economic donations as well for which this Agency can continue completing their goals for the benefit of needy families.
In particular, the work they are performing day to day in the Program of Healing Home is extraordinary with children who receive treatment through a partnership with Shiners Hospital. A hard work, but thanks to God the House of Charity decided to take over.

Our organization received school supplies and hygiene kits from the House of Charity which were distributed to the refugee families around Houston. Our local organization provides relief services and support to Houston's growing refugee population. The refugee families in Houston arrive with little more than the clothes on their backs and all the help and support they can get is much appreciated. My experience with House of Charity was more than pleasant. I got to meet with some of the children who are here for treatment, and they were a delight to meet with! You can't help but walk away with tears. The people running the organization were sweet and courteous - and very organized. The work that House of Charity does is not easy, and I am glad to see that there is an organization doing good for the forgotten children around the world.
From Asociacion Peruana de Houston (APH). The House of Charity recently donated back to school supplies for distribution to the community we support in Houston; they contributed to our Back to School program and allowed us to reaching our mission statement and commitment to our community in Houston.
"The House Of Charity" is simply an amazing organization that cares for the surrrounding comunity agencies that are dedicated to helping those who are less fortunate. Each school kit donated will help one of our Children here at "The Bridge Over Troubled Waters" to be prepared for that exciting first day of school! The Hygiene kits will help aid our victims that enter emergency shelter with no personal items, after fleeing for safet. The staff, clients, and volunteers appreciate all of the support that is recieved from " The House Of Charity" and look forward to a long lasting relationship.
It is a great Charity work. House of Charities is sharing its love and donations to the most needed families in our community. School kits and Personal Hygiene are good assistance to our community. We, the community members will look forward to be a partner of House of Charities.
As the Founder/Director of Fertile Ground "Christian Transformation Center", a non-profit organization in Houston,TX. I have found that the House of Charity far exceeds all expectaions. The services they provide are of maximum benefit to those served In both Health and Social Justice.Fertile Ground Houses and provides services for Men and Women returning from prison. This population of people return to their communities with many many needs. My affiliation with the House of Charity has enhanced my ability to serve multitudes in the arena of Restorative Justice. We participate in the Better Homes, Chicken Day, Sweety, and Hope Day Programs provided ny this terrific organization.

I have donated time and money to House of Charity since 1998. Its founder, Hashmat Effendi is one remarkable woman I am blessed to know. I am proud to be associated with her mission which is delivered with total dedication and selflessness.

I assisted this charity last year and due to my finding I will not recommend it for any assistance of volunteering or donating funds. I helped with the children that were here from Pakistan. I saw and found things that would be considered as unethical for a non-profit organization especially one that is supposed to be helping children. I am from Pakistan and so is the Executive Director, Hashmat Effendi, and it saddens me to see this non-profit organization getting away with the tactics she uses. I checked BBB and her income is $731,709 and her expenses are $731,709 but on this site has her income $810,893 and expenses are $804,613. Well, which one is correct??????

My child was provided Medical Treatment for 10+ years and underwent more than 50 Surgical Procedures (some very complex ones) thanks to The House of Charity and particularly its Executive Director Hashmat Effendi. All the medical care was organized by House of Charity and provided without any costs to the family. God bless Hashmat and her organization! Amen!

I have supported this charity generously for many years and regularly donate substantial funds to it generally and for specific projects. I feel my charity dollars are extremely well utilized for the betterment of mankind in need in USA and overseas.

Great nonprofit doing excellent work on a shoestring budget! I have been donating to House of Charity for many years and have observed them at close range. In my estimation they leverage their dollar intake 1:15 which is excellent. They provide surgical services to the indigent, run a Healing Home for convalescing children and provide youth services - all at no cost to the beneficiaries.
I made a donation to this non profit organization. I wish I would have waited until I knew more about them. The Founder and Excutive Director, Hashmat Effandi, is a liar and a theift. I thought she helped local children. The fact is she only helps children from Packistain. I will not be making anymore kind donations. I found this site and decided to write this review in hopes of others to read about her and her orginization. Houston has several "real" local charities and I will do my research prior to make a donation!!!!!

This Charity needs to STOPPED because of the business tactics. The Founder, Hashmat Effendi, treats her volunteers and staff as SLAVES. Hashmat uses people to her advantage and HELPING Children is a JOKE. Her son works for her and he gets paid well and drives a BRAND new Infiniti sports car that Hashmat and her husband bought for him. AS far as helping children......she only helps Pakistani children. Take a look at her web-site www.houseofcharity.com. Also, her web-site is a .com not a .org!!!! She is very dishonest person and does not HELP local Houston Children. The IRS needs to audit her since she supports her family, her lavish home and cars. Sjhe always has her hand out to ask but never gives in return. Again, helping children is an absolute JOKE and she needs to help local children in Houston and stop bring children here because her country hurt young girls sch as throwing acid on them intentionally. I hope someone reads this and puts a stop to her and if she wants to support Pakistan children then move there and HELP your country. Well, I am sure she like the US since there is more money her for her to STEAL.
It was nice to see Azima on face book.
She looks tall in her new legs. You have done such a wonderfull job, which no one can imagine that in such a short time House of Charity managed all things perfectly.
When she was travelling independently to Houston, I was a bit worried that how would she manage it, but azima was so confident & relax about all this. Azima told me that it was your suggestion to travel alone to be more independent & tackle her affairs by herself. My family salutes ur vision.
Good job House of Charity

I read House of Charity Children's story on CNN. I was very moved and touched. They are doing great work along with Shriner's Hospital in Galveston. I drove to visit their office and the Healing Home in Houston Texas.
I met House of Charity people on the luncheon organized by Houston women magazine. I also went to the Healing Home and met the children whoa re disfigured because of the burn.

HOC founder and her husband have created a business and the "charity" benefits them to the tune of at least 48,000 in 2008. feel free to contsct me as I do think that they need to be stopped. Call Smile Train and ask them if you should donate to HOC. Tom Flood 713 436-1960
The previous reviewer perhaps had some score to settle as he/she writes that: "I've seen the results of this organization with my own eyes and they do help children". Further he/she writes: "What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is the children that I was able to help with the funds that I raised". Again he/she writes: "The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were Wonderful and dedicated". Then he/she goes on to trash the founder. I have personally known the founder and seen her amazing work which has recently been compared to the work of Mother Teresa by Wall Street Journal and USA Today. The founder drives an 11 year old clunker that I sold to her several years ago for 6K and lives in a rented house. It is unfortunate that reviewers like the previous one can go around trashing good people doing God's work on this earth for their nefarious agendas. Its shameful and a disgrace.
