Programs: In fiscal year 2017, meredith monk & vocal ensemble boasted many programmatic accomplishments. -meredith monk & vocal ensemble engaged thousands of individuals through performances in communities here in new york city, across the country and around the world. Nyc - highlights included performances at the brooklyn museum, at artist jim hodges' new performance space "queenslab", and at brooklyn's acclaimed new music venue, national sawdust. National - highlights included performances at the big ears festival in knoxville, tn, st. Olaf college in minnesota, ica boston, and the university of michigan. International - highlights included performances with the kolner philharmonie in koln, germany and at the winnipeg new music festival in canada. In addition to the aforementioned season highlights, the house foundation produced its bi-annual vocal ensemble weekend workshop, training artists and educators in monk's performance methods and artistic philosophy, and an education program at bard high school for high school students on the lower east side.
