Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Children & Youth, Children & Youth Services

Mission: The Housatonic Youth Service Bureau’s mission is to create a supportive environment and empowering experiences where children and young adults can embrace their full potential as individuals, as students, as family members, and as community members. Established in 1991, the Housatonic Youth Service Bureau is a 501c3 nonprofit founded to respond to the needs of the youth living in the Region One School District. The towns include North Canaan, Canaan, Salisbury/Lakeville, Sharon, Cornwall and Kent. Celebrating over 20 years of service, HYSB has consistently upheld a standard of excellence in offering an assortment of services. Daily, our efforts strive to meet the complex needs of children, youth and families living in our community. Unfortunately, services available for families are scarce. This is where we come in; our focus is on providing a variety of innovative service options that promote the overall health and wellbeing of children, youth and families living in the Region One area. HYSB helps any youth up to age 21, and their family, regardless of school status. Among the variety of service options, clients are offered individual and family clinical therapy, advocacy, prevention programming, referral services, outreach, and community events. All services are barrier free, an approach that creates an open-door policy for children and their parents to find help when they need it.
