As a past volunteer for over a decade, I was blessed with the understanding of unconditional love from the dogs and staff. I learned more from the dogs than I witness amongst most humans.
I have been a long time volunteer and the reason I have been with Houndhaven for 20+ years is because the care the dogs receive is second to none. Every decision made is with the dogs best interest in mind. I'm not only a volunteer but I adopted my sweet Lou from HH as well.
We have adopted 3 wonderful dogs from this organization. Their new focus on helping families get needed medical care for their dogs is admirable and a much needed resource. They continue to help our 4 legged friends live their best lives.

If I could have a hundred dogs, they would all be from Houndhaven. The dogs there know they are special and have come to a place where they will be loved and cared for until they find their forever homes. We have adopted 3 dogs from Houndhaven over the years and they have all been wonderful family members.
I have adopted 2 dogs from Houndhaven. Linda and her volunteers work extremely hard to make sure all dogs are safe, healthy and are placed in wonderful homes. Everyone should consider adopting and if you do, Houndhaven should be at the top of your list. Keep up the great work!

I have adopted 2 labs from Houndhaven. Linda and her volunteers are just amazing. All of the dogs are shown and given so much love and affection. Houndhaven is always out in the community and they have found homes for over 1000 dogs. They make sure their dogs and their adopters are a good fit. Houndhaven has also taken care of medical bills for several dogs in order to give them the longest lives possible. I love Houndhaven and will continue to adopt from this wonderful nonprofit.
Our great dog Snickers Brown was from HoundHaven - we have been long term rescue parents and supporters of Houndhaven a great organization that helps dogs that need it the most.
Houndhaven has helped more than 50 dogs get specialty vet care that otherwise would have been impossible for their owners since our HH Helps project started in 2022. Specialty care for dogs, like for humans, is quite expensive but often needed. Although we only pay 50% of the discounted price offered by our veterinarians, leaving the owners to pay the other half, that is usually enough to make the care affordable. We have spent more than $75,000 on this project so far and it all comes from donations and grants. No one at HH is paid so every dollar goes to help dogs.
I rescued 2 of my 3 current pups from Houndhaven. Linda and all her volunteers were amazing and helped me in countless ways to acclimate their rescues to their new home with me. They didn’t leave the shelter til they were fully vetted and healthy. Each and every one of their dogs were so lovingly cared for until they found their furever home. Now that Houndhaven Helps has been established to assist pet owners in need of quality vet care I will continue to support that cause whole heartedly.
I rescued a dog from a neighbor's house after he had been attacked and chewed up by one of their other dogs. He ended up with several bites, an abdominal puncture that led to a hernia and a broken leg. After all was said and done, the vet bill for his care and surgery was around $14,000.00. As a former volunteer for HoundHaven I knew they were now focusing their efforts on assisting owners with exorbitant vet bills for conditions like this as well as other ailments; cancer, dermatitis, ear issues, orthopedics and so much more. I appealed to HoundHaven for help with the cost of the dog's care and they came to the rescue. Needless to say, Mooshi, as we have since named him, decided we would do just fine as his new owners and made himself at home. He has fully healed, has earned his Good Citizenship certification and spends his time at doggy day care playing with his BFFs Rockett and Tessa, getting lots of love and treats at home and being the all around goofy dog that he is. Without HoundHaven's help, Mooshi's outlook may have taken a different turn. So glad they were there for us and Mooshi.

Mooshi, the newest addition to our rescue family, initially belonged to a family who lived across the street. He was attacked by another dog that lived in the house and once they were finally separated he was chewed up and limping very badly. The family had no money and no transportation so I ended up throwing him in my car and speeding off to my vet. When we got there he was in severe shock with dwindling hopes. Long story short, after caring for his wounds, a broken leg, and a hernia operation as a result of a bite puncture wound to his abdomen, we were left with a $14,000 bill. Bless Houndhaven, they came to the rescue and help pay for some of the bill. Mooshi is a very happy boy today. He just passed his K9 Good Citizenship Test and spends his days Wed & Fri playing with his buddies at a doggy daycare. We love him to pieces and can no longer imagine life without him.
HoundHaven does so much to help dogs find a home. Our last 2 dogs were rescues from HoundHaven and they are both part of our family. I am so happy to read the stories of how they are assisting dog owners to keep their dogs healthy.

Houndhaven does wonderful work rescuing and placing their dogs in loving homes. I have volunteered for them for several years and my 2 current Labs are both Houndhaven rescues. They do a thorough investigation of each family wanting to adopt to make sure the dogs go to a loving and appropriate home.
I first learned about Houndhaven almost 20 years ago, when I encountered their volunteers at PetSmart during one of their frequent adoption fairs. Over the years, I have donated time and money to their organization because I have witnessed, first-hand, the passion and dedication they have to their goal of providing happy, healthy, safe homes for their rescues. Linda and her team genuinely care for each and every dog - even after they have found their "forever homes." I am a proud dog-dad of 2 wonderful boys we adopted from Houndhaven over 4 years ago.
I adopted two wonderful dogs from Hound Haven. In each case they make sure that each dog is healthy and ready to go to their new home. My first dog, Payton, had inhaled something that created a lung issue. They spent thousands getting him the right care. Then they help find just the right dog to match the adopters. We've had Gidget for 12 years now and I still can't teach her to smile for a photo but she's just as precious today as the day we brought her home.

I have adopted 2 wonderful dogs from HoundHaven. Our first "baby" was about 3 or 4 years old and had inhaled something that created an issue with his lungs. They carefully nursed him back to health and spent thousands of $ on vet bills. He was one of the sweetest dogs I have ever had the pleasure to live with. Our 2nd was about 2 years and so terrified. HH takes extraordinary care to match the right adopters with their dogs. We continue to be a monthly supporter and highly recommend.
I have been a volunteer with Houndhaven for 17 years. I can truly say all the donations went to take care of our dogs. We had healthy dogs and very sick abandoned abused and dogs that needed very expensive medical attention. They were all taken care of no matter the cost. The volunteers loved and cared for them like they were their very own. Our president Linda is the most caring and compassionate person I know. Each dog had a special place in her heart. Have always been proud to say I’m a volunteer at Houndhaven.
Over the past several years, we have been privileged to adopt a few dogs from Houndhaven. The organization goes the extra mile to give love and top notch medical treatment to the dogs in their care. Then they take time to match each dog to their perfect forever home. Now the adoption arm has ceased, but they have turned their attention to selflessly helping dogs in the area who need advanced medical procedures whose families cannot afford it on their own. Houndhaven is staffed by angels and blessed by their donors!

My husband and I have adopted the best tempered and loved dogs from HoundHaven over the last several years. The dogs are socialized and spoiled and receive top notch medical care. They have a wonderful corp of volunteers - the backbone of the organization! I have been a CVT for 45+ years, and HoundHaven does rescue and rehoming in a caring and ethical manner.
HoundHaven has been one of the best dog rescue organizations in Central Florida for over 20 years. The facilities have been top notch: clean, safe and well staffed with volunteers for the whole time. Animals come in many times broken and afraid but leave healthy and confident. A super organization.
Houndhaven helped us find our furever friend. This organization is diligent with their adoption process and works tirelessly to protect dogs and assist their new families. We got more than just a pet, we got a whole support system!
It is truly amazing what this rescue does. I have known linda and the houndhaven team for almost 20 years. They are simply amazing and truly care about doing right by the dogs.
I was a volunteer at Houndhaven for over 6 years. The entire Houndhaven team worked as a cohesive group of volunteers with one main objective-the care and feeding of shelter dogs, no matter what breed. Undercthe leadership of Linda C., the owner we developed a passion for the furries and looked foward to our designated night.
Words cannot express the Houndhaven experience.
I am a past volunteer when the kennels were open and loved every minute of it. HH is now taking a different approach to helping pets to stay healthy by helping pay for much needed vet services. I can appreciate this much needed service and know that HH will be successful. It is a wonderful nonprofit and one that should be supported. They will always have my support and confidence in their ability to help dogs.
Houndhaven is the best rescue group I know! They make sure each dog's medical needs are taken care of- even if that means taking them to a specialist. They have a lifetime commitment to the dogs they place and provide great support to their families.

Houndhaven has always been a great organization to help dogs in need. From rescuing dogs out of animal controls to helping dogs stay with their families, Houndhaven has gone above and beyond to be the best. No expense is spared to help the dogs that Houndhaven helps and the community has greatly benefited from all that they do.

I was introduced to Houndhaven 12 years ago after my first Golden Retriever passed away. They had a picture of two Golden sisters needing a home and long story short I became their new Mom. They were amazing girls, and I felt I could share my time with such a wonderful group. So I started volunteering and have falling in love with so many dogs that Houndhaven has rescued through the years. My beautiful Golden girls have since passed, but I fell for a silly Golden boy while volunteering at Houndhaven and he has been a wonderful part of our family. I love my time at Houndhaven because I know we are making a difference in the lives of the dogs that we rescue. We have taken in dogs that have been terribly injured, abused and neglected, seniors, and even terminal dogs that wonderful volunteers have taken in as forever hospices. Houndhaven is like a family...we love rescuing dogs and we love spending time with them and each other.
A wonderful non-profit with amazing volunteers! It is my true honor to be able to work with such great people to provide veterinary care for dogs in need through Houndhaven Helps!
Linda and all the volunteers are amazing. We have adopted 5 dogs from HH. The concern, care and genuine love they have for the well being of these dogs is amazing.
This is a fabulous group that I will always support and promote

Volunteering at Houndhaven was genuinely an awesome experience. It was a lot of hard work, but the friends I made with my fellow volunteers and the dogs I was able to help find their forever homes was worth all that and more.
I have volunteered with HoundHaven and had the opportunity to provide a “freedom ride” for 3 deserving dogs from a bad situation to shelter at HoundHaven and eventually forever homes. We always said that dogs “hit the jackpot” if they made it to HoundHaven because they would receive all the care they needed. Now “HoundHaven Helps” is still helping dogs in need and helping families keep and care for their fur babies.
I am a veterinary surgeon and worked with Houndhaven when I was in Central Florida for over 20 years and continue to work with them now that I practice in Chattanooga, TN. They are great to work with and have allowed me to help so many dogs that would otherwise have gone without surgical care for major trauma. They work tirelessly to raise funds and are always so appreciative of the care that is provided.
Luna is a 4yr old GoldenRetriever/Australuan Shepherd mix who was recently diagnosed with a torn ACL. We were unable to pay the cost for the surgery so I reached out to anyone who could help on Facebook. A volunteer at Houndhaven reached out and put us in contact with Linda. We set up an apointment with Dr Peck in Chatanooga and Houndhaven helped pay a generous portion of Luna's surgery!
Houndhaven is a true blessing to dogs and their families! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us take care of our fur baby,Luna!!
Luna & her Mama Pat
We found Minnie at Houndhaven and we are so thankful to have her. Houndhaven takes great care in finding matching homes and dogs.
Our family has included golden retrievers and labs for over 45 years. When our last furry buddy passed away, we knew that raising another puppy was not a good idea at our age. We contacted Houndhaven and filled out an application to adopt a senior dog and found the perfect rescue. Mambo, a beautiful golden retriever was abandoned at the age of 9 with severe ear infections. We fell in love with him immediately and are so thankful that he is still living the good life with us at age 13. Thank you Houndhaven!
Amazing staff, beautiful dogs
You can tell that they really care about the dogs.. That's why i chose to adopt from them.
Houndhaven not only takes expert care of the dogs in its care, the placement process is rigorous in order to provide a furever placement.
I volunteered with Houndhaven for several years -- helping launch and publish a printed newsletter (before social media was a thing). I can't say enough good things about this organization that's run by people who flat out LOVE dogs and only want the best homes for them. I'm thrilled that HH continues to do excellent work, year in and year out. I know when I donate $, every cent goes to help rescue precious lives.
My dealings with this rescue is heartbreaking, so I won't go into my full story...however I will tell you they were extremely kind and you can tell how much they love the dogs in their care and work tirelessly to find their furever home. Highly recommend!
When I started Houndhaven in 2000 I never dreamed we would have such wonderful volunteers and dogs. God has blessed us with outstanding adoptive homes as well. In a world where people can be so cruel, our faith in humanity is restored by our volunteers and adopters. We work HARD to be sure our dogs are well cared for and our homes are the best fit possible. We have rescued nearly 1,700 dogs since we started and it is all thanks to the wonderful people who support Houndhaven. We could not have done it without them!
We have gotten two dogs from Houndhaven and they have added so much to our family. Linda and Houndhaven are such a blessing and doing such great work. I would recommend Houndhaven to anyone looking for a great dog.

Lobe this organization so much. We adopted our Lab Tally from here and the experience was so great. I look forward to being able to adopt from them again. Linda cares so much for all the dogs. She is caring and makes sure that the dogs go to very good homes. I’m so pleased with my experience with Hound Haven.
We love Houndhaven! We have adopted from them twice. A gorgeous, goofy, yellow lab we named Blaze in 2010 that sadly crossed the rainbow bridge in September 2021. Just before her passing we adopted Bear, a Rottweiler mix. He’s a big lovable guy and wonderful addition to our family. Both dogs were vetted before they were available for adoption which eliminates surprise vet bills.
Both adoptions occurred after we met the dogs at Houndhaven and they did a home visit. This two step process ensures the family and dog are compatible and a forever home is found.
I would highly recommend adopting from them, they truly want the best for every dog they place.
Outstanding organization and volunteers that takes wonderful care of dogs and helps find their forever hone. I am proud to be part of this team
We adopted a labrador retriever from Houndhaven. You can tell they truly care about the dogs. Their adoption process is very thorough. We will adopt from them again.
We have had the pleasure to adopt multiple dogs from Houndhaven. Always a great Experience and the continued interest they show even after the dogs are adopted shows how much they love what they do. Linda knows every dog that has crossed over her threshold no matter how long ago it was. She is a true hero to each and everyone one of them.
I've adopted two dogs from Houndhaven. The owner Linda and staff there are absolutely amazing. You can tell that they truly care for the animals and make sure that they get loving homes. When we're ready for another fur-baby we will definitely be adopting from Houndhaven again!
I can’t say enough good things about the amazing work done by the Houndhaven group! My daughters and I enjoyed visiting their dogs at Petsmart. We thought we found “our” dog a few times, disappointed when it didn’t work out. But that’s only because the Houndhaven process is very thorough and selective. To find the perfect match. We finally got “our” dog and it was a wonderful experience thanks to the Houndhaven crew!
Real Cinderella stories. Once Houndhaven has a dog, the dog has a bright future. HH spares no expense to get the dog healthy. And they maintain their facility very well, in a country setting.

Houndhaven is an amazing dog rescue. The people that run it and those who volunteer there are the best. They do everything they can to help dogs in need. From intake to adoption day, the welfare and happiness of the dogs are their priorities. I only wish there was room for every homeless dog at Houndhaven.
Outstanding dog rescue. There are three shifts of volunteers. Dogs are taken to vet and get whatever they need so they will be healthy for their new home. Volunteers take dogs to adoption events in the hound haven vans!
Any dog lucky enough to come to hound haven will remain there as long as it takes to find their perfect home. Outstanding dog rescue.

I have adopted four dogs from Houndhaven! I absolutely love this rescue and continue to support their work! They take in dogs that have difficult medical cases, as well as those who are ready for a forever home right away. They take the time to make sure every dog will be a good match with their potential adopter and any existing pets in the home. When I visit the rescue, I can see the love the volunteers have for the dogs in their care.

I cannot say enough good things about Houndhaven. I have not only volunteered with Houndhaven but have adopted three dogs between myself and my mom. Houndhaven makes certain each dog gets the very best care, most love and the happiest of homes!

I cannot say enough good things about Houndhaven. These rescued dogs are taken in and given medical attention, good nutrition and a great place to stay while waiting for their forever homes. But most of all they are given the love and attention they need and deserve. Thank you Houndhaven!
Houndhaven does wonderful work. Their volunteers are exceptional. They do a great job of promoting their pups on social media and sharing their success stories. Good people doing good work.
The team at Houndhaven do such amazing work in caring for dogs and helping them find forever homes. We have adopted 5 dogs over the years. They are such a blessing to our family.
We had a wonderful experience adopting our sweet girl, Izzy, back in 2018 from Houndhaven. The process is very thorough, which we appreciated because it shows that Linda and staff are determined to find proper owners/homes for their dogs. Izzy (Isabelle) came to us fully vaccinated, spayed, and ready to be a very special member of our family. Their facilities are on a beautiful property in central Florida. I highly recommend adopting from Houndhaven, Inc!
In 2018 I rescued my first dog Collins from Houndhaven and she is everything I hoped for and more! Houndhaven’s adoption process was really straightforward and I appreciate all the steps they make you go through to make sure the dogs are going to good homes. 3 years later 2021 I was ready for my second dog Marley and adopted her through houndhaven as well because I loved the organization so much!
We cannot say enough about HH and all its volunteers. These people are angels for these pups, they truly live their lives making sure any animal that comes through their Haven is placed in a home that works for the dog, and the human(s). We need more Houndhavens in the world. All the glory to God for their commitment and devotion to this cause.
Our Wonderful Hazel Grace came to us after rescue at the most helpful hands at Houndhaven in Central Florida.
As a former volunteer of many years (and would still be doing so if I lived in the area), I can wholeheartedly attest to the dedication and commitment of everyone connected with this organization. I have witnessed what miracles a little compassion and love can perform in healing broken bodies and spirits, and this place is filled with people who ooze compassion and love. I remember a dog many years ago, very sick and sure not to live long, and when I asked the “boss” why she took him from the local shelter and brought him here (vet bills high, a lot of post-surgery care for volunteers) she responded, by gosh he was gonna be warm and cared for and loved to the end and not die in the shelter. It filled my heart and she was my new hero from that point forward. Teddy did die, and he was surrounded by love when he did. I think remarkable is the word you’re looking for.
It is one of my proudest accomplishments to be connected to Houndhaven and I am so proud of the work they do. Oh, and also because of them I found two of my greatest loves, Libby and Jesse.
I got my first baby, Sawyer, from Houndhaven and he was the best thing that ever happened to me! He came from the shelter well loved, well taken care of, and very happy. I just got my new baby, Frankie, this past weekend and they make the process easy and enjoyable. The dogs at Houndhaven come from different scenarios, but are definitely taken care of and loved at the shelter until they find their forever homes!
Houndhaven us simply amazing. The founder and all the volunteers love these dogs so much. And the investment in getting a dog home ready is beyond words. My Katie Rae was and my Dublin is a rescue from Houndhaven. Dublin was rescued as a puppy that could barely walk. I adopted him knowing that medical needs would be high. But they turned out to be higher than we anticipated. Houndhaven stood by me and helped raise money in that 1sr year ro help offset the costs of the 6 surgeries he ended up needing. He will likely need more but 4 years in now he swims for therapy and doesn't let his joint issues stop him. Houndhaven saved his life.
In 2013 we lost our two beloved senior dogs within a short time of each other. We were heartbroken & spent a lot of time searching for that special dog. When we discovered Houndhaven & found a one year old chocolate lab we applied, met Brie at a meet & greet, passed the home visit & not only did Brie rescue us, but we were so impressed with the love & dedication given to this dogs, that we spent several years volunteering at Houndhaven, until we moved away. Getting their rescues to the right forever home is one of their top priorities. Brie is now ten & still working as a certified therapy dog, serving Hospice, our local schools, & Allstate insurance disaster programs. Thanks to Houndhaven, for rescuing Brie & placing her with us, she has touched many lives beyond ours.
Never had personal dealings with this organization but if I were looking to adopt a dog right now this is where I would look. I follow them and it's obvious the love they have for these pups.
We adopted a dog a few weeks ago. The whole process was smooth and affordable. A nice volunteer introduced us to 2 dogs & we are really pleased with the one we adopted, Gina.
Eleven years ago today we adopted our sweet lab we named Blaze. Earlier this year in March we adopted a handsome Rottweiler mix named Bear. Linda and all the Houndhaven volunteers have been wonderful helping us with Bear who has medical needs. I have always recommended them to friends who are looking for a dog. They care about their placements and require a home visit and vet referral. I appreciate that the dogs are placed after they receive a well check with a veterinarian.
We love this organization so much my daughter reached out to them and did her Girl Scout Silver Award at their facility.
I have volunteered at Houndhaven and can honestly say how devoted they are to caring for every dog that enters their door. I have witnessed a blind dog regain his sight. I witnessed another dog who came to us after being hit by a car and left to die learn to walk again. Regardless of costs, Houndhaven somehow manages to pay for major surgeries, therapy, training etc. All dogs receive any necessary medical attention, are brought up to date on shots and are microchipped. Dogs are given a clean and safe place to stay and they receive so much love from all the volunteers until they find their perfect furever home.

I have been volunteering at Hound Haven for about 1 1/2 years. From day one, I have been impressed with this no kill dog shelter and all of the volunteers. Everyone truly loves each and every dog that comes to us. The love and attention given to each dog is amazing! Hound Haven is kept spotless!! All walks, meds, specific care instructions and meals are documented daily. I have seen dogs come to us that have been mistreated, neglected, abandoned and/or injured. With enough time and TLC, each one becomes healthy, more out going and just simply happy again. I love seeing this transformation. Linda, the owner, is devoted to all of the dogs. We have volunteers that handle all adoption events, others that help with home visits, some do the transportation to/from vet appointments, and many that work various shifts ( AM, midday & PM) cleaning kennels, giving baths, caring for and loving the dogs. Managing a dog shelter and keeping it running at this high level of care takes a village. I would ask everyone to consider helping us out by either donating financially ( medical bills for some of our dogs costs thousands of dollars) , by adopting from Hound Haven or by becoming a volunteer.
We recently lost our beloved adopted dog from Houndhaven. He was a wonderful dog with a great temperament and he grew well with my young son. The highest recommendation I can give came directly from our dog, Wrigley. He absolutely LOVED returning to Houndhaven each year for their annual homecoming fundraiser. The love and care he received was evident as he would seek out the volunteers who had cared for him there to say hello. And he would ALWAYS make a direct line for Linda Coletta whenever he heard her voice-this includes the virtual homecoming held last year (due to Covid). He heard her voice and came into my office looking for where her voices was coming from . Even after being with us for 8 years, he still recalled her voice and remembered the love and care Houndhaven provides! I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone seeking to adopt.
About nine years ago, we were walking through the Coppell Farmer’s Market and passed by a booth for Houndhaven. We stopped and talked to Melanie Fox and looked at a picture of the cutest puppy. To make a long story short, the next day we were able to take that puppy home with us. Melanie was a pleasure to work with through that process. Our puppy Daisy is a part of our family and we’re so thankful Houndhaven rescued her and connected us with her. Can’t praise them enough!
I have been a Houndhaven volunteer for more than six years and it is one of the best life choices I have ever made. I am honored to be part of a team that cares for dogs who had a difficult start in life or somehow ended up no longer wanted. We help them thrive and learn to trust again. We see some dogs go from being terrified to leave their kennel to enthusiastically barking when it's time for a walk. Others refuse meals at first and within days are happily licking their dinner bowls clean! The initial tears of sadness that we often shed when a frightened or neglected dog first arrives truly become tears of joy on the day a dog finds his or her forever home. To be a small part of that process is an incredible feeling. This is a top-notch, special organization and Linda's tireless efforts in securing vet care, physical therapy, training -- whatever is needed -- assure that each dog who arrives at Houndhaven receives the best care possible.
since my husband died i decided to adopt senior yellow labs. about 7 years ago i found houndhaven . i am a senior citizen living alone so most rescues won't adopt to seniors because the dogs may outlive them . houndhaven would let me adopt. i have had two of the most wonderful dogs from them. my current dog named littleman is the best and sweetest dog ever. the rescue site is beautiful and the volunteers are wonderful.

i am a senior citizen who lives alone. i wanted a senior yellow lab to be my companion. the folks at houndhaven pointed out a dog that was hard to place and i had newman for three years until he died. i missed him so much and didn't want anyone except another yellow lab. i looked on line and didn't see any available dogs that i liked. the director of HH suggested a smaller dog who was a beagle/lab mix. i adopted him and renamed him littleman. he is the best dog i ever had . he is so smart and loving. i hope he lives forever.
I adopted Tyrone (Truman), almost three years ago. It was best decision I made. He is a beautiful healthy standard poodle.
We adopted our dog almost 7 years ago. The best endorsement I can give is how excited our dog (Wrigley) would get to visit with the volunteers. He always perked up whenever he heard Linda Colette speak at the annual homecoming; and wanted to find her for some attention. He was thoroughly confused when he heard her but could not find her during the “virtual Homecoming event” last year.
The love and care the dogs receive while waiting for their “furever home” is evident both in the quality of the organization and the love the dogs feel even after they are adopted.
I am a proud parent of a dog that was rescued and cared for by the HoundHaven staff. The care and well-being of my dog, Maddie, was top-notch. In addition to the work they do to care for their rescues, they make sure that their pups go to the proper home. They do an amazing job of screening potential applicants which is so important to make sure the pups go to a home that is the best fit. Maddie was my first rescue pup and I will definitely look to HoundHaven for other dogs that we can adopt.

Last summer, we were wanting another “fur-baby”, and being new to the area, we asked folks on NextDoor.com to give recommendations for a reputable and trustworthy rescue organization. Overwhelming response pointed us in the direction of Houndhaven, Inc. We went to one of their events at PetSmart and thought they had the perfect dog for us at their facility. We met Maddy at the farm and immediately fell in love with her. Equally important was what we thought of the Houndhaven facility and staff. In a word, top notch. They are an amazing organization and we highly recommend them to other people looking to give a dog his/her fur-ever home.
I adopted my pup, Dray (fka Dante) right before the COVID lockdown. I fell in love with this dog even before I met him. He was rescued by Houndhaven a few months prior. He had mange, a URI and parvo. He was a mess. My heart broke for him. If it weren't for HH stepping in and giving this poor baby a chance, I would never have known him. HH's staff and volunteers are wonderful, caring humans that truly love the dogs they care for. The adoption experience is extensive but it just reassures me that HH is only adopting to the very best! Thank you HH for everything you do!
We have had the absolute pleasure of adopting four dogs from this great rescue group. Every one of the furry friends we have adopted have had great personalities and they are so grateful to find a forever home. Linda and her staff are wonderful and are extremely passionate about their dogs. We highly recommend visiting Houndhaven when looking for the next member of your family!!
The love that Houndhaven shares with the dogs they rescue and the people who become family to each of these dogs is unending. I can't say enough good things about them.
Compassionate. Determined. Sincere. Loving and Honest are just a few words that come to mind when I think of HoundHaven Inc. For those who are in need of help who deserve the best of what life has to offer, this one-of-a-kind nonprofit organization doesn’t let “future family members” down. And this includes those who may need specific medical care … they are the heroes for those who can’t speak for themselves. They really are a wonderful organization. -Kristeen Ezell
I have adopted 2 dogs from Houndhaven in the past 4 years. They always do the right thing by each dog to place each dog in the most appropriate home for that dog. Irrespective of the age, sex, color, mixed breed, or health of that dog. They are very highly regarded in SW Orlando for their dedication to saving local dogs in high kill shelters.
We could not have been happier with the whole process of adopting our pup. From a first meeting at an adoption event to an on site introduction to get to know her, and they us. And a sweet home visit a year ago yesterday. Love Hound Haven!
Houndhaven does outstanding work with labradors and other hound dogs -- they are on a nice plot of land with ample room for the dogs to play and exercise - and the staff there are remarkable. They arranged an adoption for me even while C19 was beginning to rear its ugly head through a socially distanced meet and greet with the dog. I was very happy with my adoption and even gave them extra as a donation to make sure they can keep going. Highly recommended.
Amazing non profit! had the pleasure to volunteer for a short time and nothing but loving animals, caring volunteers and great care for these dogs. Our school did a fundraiser for them also and collected lots of much needed supplies and food. Students loved having the dogs visit! Great, honest organization! Please support them!
Wonderful people at Hound Haven! We’ve met a few people at Hound Haven and they all do an amazing job with these animals. Thank you for all that you do!!
Adopted our beautiful dog Sable from Houndhaven. Houndhaven rescued her from a shelter and provided needed medical care. She was well taken care of until she found her forever home.
Houndhaven is wonderful. The love and care provided to the dogs is amazing. The best testimony I can give comes from my dog: Adopted Wrigley (fka Dealer) almost 6 years ago, but every time we go to the "Homecoming" fundraiser, he gets excited as we turn onto the road to Hound Haven. He LOVES seeing volunteers who cared for him -- before we became his furever home!
Grateful for the love and care provided to Wrigley and ALL the dogs that have been in their care. Happy to contribute and donate whenever we can.
The focus on providing the animals with a loving, permanent home is amazing! Thank you for all you do!
I have adopted 3 dogs from Hound Haven - they are the best! Great dogs and overall a wonderful adoption experience.

We adopted Riley over 10 years ago from Hound Haven. He was absolutely perfect. He passed last year and now we have adopted another dog, Finley. He is fitting right in and loving life. I cannot imagine my life without being able to love Riley for those 10 years and now loving Finley. Hound Haven has made that possible

I volunteered with this organization many years ago when i lived in Orlando. I have adopted 2 of my fur babies from them. They are amazing and love these dogs ensuring that all of their medical and love needs are met and finding the right home for all of their dogs. They are the BEST!
World class experience working with Hound Haven for the last ten years. There is nothing more important than the safety and care of the dogs and I am privileged to be a part of this organization.
Our family's experience with Houndhaven Inc. has been wonderful! Our rescue, now forever furry family member, was obviously well cared for during her time at Houndhaven - she is sweet and loving - and that is a reflection on the staff and volunteers. Our interactions with those same staff and volunteers has been a positive one. Would highly recommend Houndhaven Inc. to those who are looking for a new pup to love!
Houndhaven is a wonderful dog rescue that receives dogs from animal control or from owners who can no longer take care of their pets. We brought home 3 of our four-legged family members from Houndhaven. The dogs are loved and taken great care of until they are matched with their forever family. We are so grateful for Houndhaven and for Chase, Sallie, and Sadie.
Houndhaven not only has let me adopt 6 of the best friends I could ask for over the past 14 years. Houndhaven has given me a second home where I have learned responsibility and compassion.
Houndhaven is an amazing organization. The dogs receive excellent treatment. All the volunteers work so hard to make sure each every dog has a forever home.
Houndhaven continues, even through Covid, to provide love, care, safety and adoptive homes to wonderful, loving dogs who had been let down by people in their past. Houndhaven does a fabulous job and I've been both, a volunteer and adopter for 19 years, never questioning anything Linda Coletta (owner) does. Her focus and goal are always and only, the best care for the dogs.
I was a volunteer at Houndhaven for 8 years, until I physically couldn’t do it any longer. During that time, I saw so many miracles I can’t begin to list them. Babies that had been so badly abused, some left to die on their own, the list goes on and on. But when they got to Houndhaven, their lives changed for good. They were loved, treated both medically and mentally and left only when they found the perfect forever home. You could see their smiles as they left this wonderful shelter. This is truly an amazing place.
Houndhaven helped us find a wonderful dog for our family. The process was great and Linda and her team take their work very seriously. We feel 100% comfortable adopting from them based on their policies and standards.
It took about 2 years for us to find the right dog for our family, but we found Ruthie at Houndhaven, and they were fantastic to work with right from the start. We loved that they were careful in their placements so that dog and family had the best chance of bonding well, and forever.
Our Ruthie got very sick shortly after we got her, and Houndhaven was there for us the whole time, and still are. When they say, "Once a Houndhaven dog, always a Houndhaven dog," they really mean it.
One of the best parts of our year is their annual Reunion, when "alumni" get together for a day of fun. We feel we have partners in making sure Ruthie lives her remaining years well, and we're so glad we adopted her from such a terrific group of people.

We absolutely love Hound Haven! My husband and I found the perfect dog for our new family. It is clear that the goal of Hound Haven is to find the right family for each dog, not just to adopt dogs out to anyone. We love their mission and how much they do for these dogs! They treat them like family and then treat the new families like family!
I have had 4 rescues from Houndhaven since 2001. Two passed at the ages of about 15 years old and we currently have 2 seven year old labs adopted from them. I also volunteered and fostered dogs for this organization from 2001 through 2009 when I relocated to another area. Although I can no longer volunteer due to location we do continue to adopt from Houndhaven. The dogs are so well taken care of and Linda and team of volunteers review applications and do home visits to help ensure the dogs get their forever homes. The dogs have all of their shots, are spayed or neutered and any medical issues taken care of prior to adopting. Houndhaven hosts an annual “Homecoming” so all of the adopting families can get together and show off their beautiful dogs and tell how they are thriving in the home environment. I believe in rescuing and will continue to do so from Houndhaven.
I have been with Houndhaven for 18 years. I assure you, it truly is a "haven" for the dogs that are lucky enough to have found their way there after a bad situation. I assure you that you will never find a no kill shelter run better than this one. The dogs get everything they need to become happy healthy dogs, something they should have had their entire lives. But people have let them down, and, in many, many cases, had thrown them away. Hound Haven gives these dogs another chance to have wonderful lives. Every medical need is taken care of, from life-saving surgery to cataract surgery to skin issues. Medical bills can prove that!! While at Houndhaven, the dogs are treated with the same love and care as if they were family...because they are. Houndhaven is completely run on volunteers and donations. And love! I feel blessed to be part of Houndhaven... and to have adopted three fabulous dogs! The feeling you get when you see the transformation of these dogs is like no other. And, Linda Coletta, President and founder of Houndhaven is also like no other! Not only does she save their lives, get them the care they need, she follows up on the care of the dogs after being adopted by our wonderful adopting families. Annually, records proving they have gotten their dogs their shots, bloodwork, etc. must be sent to her. Yes, she really makes sure the "alumni" are still taken care of long after they leave Houndhaven. And, our Annual Homecoming Day gives us a chance to visit with so many of the dogs and their new wonderful families. Please go to our website(Houndhaven.org) to see the available dogs and to donate if you can.
100% of your donations go to the care of the dogs.
We love Houndhaven. Our two labs were adopted from them. This wonderful shelter takes dogs from local city or county shelters to provide care for them and do everything possible to get them ready to be adopted. Cooper, our black lab was taken in by Linda, the Owner, even knowing that he would need expensive knee surgery. Jack, our chocolate lab was blind, had kennel cough and needed their loving care to be able to be adopted. Linda and her wonderful volunteers, provide all the love and care to each and every dog. They are blessing not only to the dogs but to all families that adopt from Houndhaven..
I’ve been volunteering with Houndhaven for a few years now. Like minded people who love the dogs until they find they’re forever families. My happiest place on earth.
Dedicated, hardworking and loving, all-volunteer staff does an AMAZING job getting dogs out of sad places, bringing them back to health, and setting them up with the right people. They care so much for the dogs, and it shows. Great, clean and professional facility that is all, all, ALL about the dogs. Many "alumni" come back each year for Homecoming to show Mama Linda how happy she made them -- Hound Haven makes so many big, goofy smiles!
We got our Miss Ursa Bear (formerly Belarus) there on St Patrick's Day 2019, and boy was that our lucky day!
I've adopted from them twice ten years apart! Both dogs were exactly as they were presented in photos and bios. The volunteers do it from the heart and the dogs are loved at the shelter and carefully placed in loving homes. I HIGHLY recommend Houndhaven especially if you are unsure about adopting a rescue. They are so knowledgeable about the right home for each dog!
I volunteered at Houndhaven for four years and it is such a special place! They have rescued hundreds of dogs and they treat every last one like royalty all while keeping the place running on donations and volunteers. They get the absolute best vet care in our area and rehabilitate so many sick pups. I have at times cried over the condition of a dog when they arrive and just the next week not recognize them because they look so much better just from receiving a little care and love. I always told Linda (the amazing women who started HH and gives her life to these dogs) that the place was cleaner and better taken care of then some of the fanciest dog hotels. It’s all due to Linda and the amazing people who give their time and love to help. They work tirelessly to find the right families for the dogs and do such an great job. There is nothing better then seeing a post of a pup at their new home! I love HH and everything they do!
We were fortunate enough to find houndhaven and our dog Ramsey. We could not have asked for a better adoption. They took such care to be sure he was a good fit for our family and we were a good fit for him. We will certainly go back to houndhaven for our next buddy. Ramsey turned out to be the most wonderful dog. There is a reason so many hound haven parents return for seconds :)
This groups is truly exceptional. My parents recently adopted a dog from them and they were so thorough and make sure that their dogs are going to excellent homes. I have attended two adoption events and it's obvious their volunteer staff is knowledgeable about the dogs, dedicated to their cause, and cares deeply about the dogs. I highly recommend this group to anyone who is looking to rescue a dog.
Exceptional company. Very kind hearted individuals with a mission - to help as many canines as possible find homes. I fully support them and would highly recommend any one helping this group.
HoundHaven is such a dedicated caring organization who goes overboard to make sure dogs are healthy, happy and find their forever homes. They turn pain and sadness for these dogs into love and friendship, before they even leave the HoundHaven home. Many volunteers every day take care of these dogs and give them all the love they can. The volunteer vets and trainers and pet shops give their time and donations to make sure they are healthy and ready to move on to the love of a family. We go out every weekend to adoption fairs with as many as 11 dogs who wow the public and the comments are always positive. They are so well behaved and we have as many as 13 volunteers every weekend to each take a dog and show their best side. It is all I can do to not take one home every weekend.
HoundHaven is a dedicated, needed organization to provide hope for dogs who are lost. Thank you for what you do.
I have been blessed with two beautiful chocolate labs who I adore. I know that Hound Haven goes to great lengths to rehabilitate injured, sick and abused animals. My furboy had parvo and worms and dropped off at animal control when HH rescued him and nursed him back to health. I was able to adopt him (very healthy and a very handsome) at 10wks. My furgirl was abandoned and dropped off at animal control and developed kennel cough and HH came to the rescue one more time and I adopted her at 1yr. HH works tirelessly to help animals find their forever homes and gives then plenty of love and affection in the meantime.
Houndhaven is full of people who truly care for the animals they rescue. We are blessed that we were able to find Dolly and for all they did for her!
I have known about, been the grateful recipient of two of their rescues, and a long time contributor to Houndhaven. This is one organization who spends not only every available dime but also every available minute on their cause. The dogs rescued by Linda Coletta and all the wonderful volunteers and supporters of Houndhaven are truly blessed. Their mission is to save these lovely hounds, especially older ones and provide them with the best forever homes they can find. All experiences with this organization over the past decade have been wonderful
An incredible organization that does everything right. 100% committed to the welfare of these animals. Volunteers give so much of their time. And they are so socially adept - reaching so many through sophisticated social media strategies. Can't say enough r great things about them!
I am both a volunteer and an adopter from Houndhaven. This is a very professionally run organization with no paid employees. All of the money donated goes towards care of the dogs. Houndhaven takes on a higher percentage of special needs dogs and seniors that many organizations of this kind stay away from due to the expense. The very caring and dedicated volunteers make this a great organization to be involved with.
Houndhaven doesn't just save dogs, they save people. My husband and I were so sad after losing our yellow lab. We said we would go to a Houndhaven meet and greet.....just to see the dogs. The volunteers were so kind and understanding about how we were feeling. We watched them interact with the dogs and could tell they had a real passion for helping animals. We fell in love with a lovely Chocolate lab. They were very careful to be sure Cocoa came to a good home and we really appreciated that they made adoption a smooth and enjoyable process. I cannot say enough about this organization and how much they have impacted our lives. Every Sunday I look forward to their Sunday Funday on Facebook.
My wife and I have adopted our last two dogs from Houndhaven. The care and attention they give to each of their dogs can be easily seen in each and every smiling pup on their website and FaceBook page. These dogs are treated like absolute gold (as well they should be!) and the greatest care is given to make sure that each of them goes to the home that is right for them. But your relationship with Houndhaven doesn't end the moment you take your new best friend home, this adoption works both ways! The Houndhaven family that you become a part of is an energetic and engaging community that will be with you both wherever life may take you. From "Sunday Fun-days" on HH's FaceBook page, to numerous charity events, and the annual reunion, there are plenty of opportunities to interact with others who believe that adopting a rescue dog truly changes more than one life.
I have been with Houndhaven for over eight years. My three fuzzy children ( drum Roxy and susie) are all alumni. No rescue takes care of the physical emotional and mental needs of dogs like houndhaven does. It is very clean and well organized. It is one of my most favorite places to be.
Dedicated volunteers offer excellent care for the rescued dogs. The organization chooses adoptive families with care to ensure appropriate matching of pets and owners. We are so thankful to have found a loyal and loving companion through their compassionate efforts. They also work hard to raise funds to provide extraordinary medical care for the rescued dogs to save lives rather than allow the animals to be euthanized unnecessarily.
