Mission: The hospital auxiliary recruits, directs and provides all human resource functions for all volunteers that work at the hospital - over 500 in the 12 months ended september 30, 2017. The auxiliary also raises funds for the benefit of indian river memorial hospital.
Programs: The hospital auxiliary recruits, directs and provides human resource functions for all volunteers that work at the hospital - over 500 in the 12 months ended september 30, 2017. Each year, the auxiliary volunteers contribute over 70,000 highly skilled hours performing duties that the hospital would otherwise have to staff. In addition to serving others as they work within the walls of the hospital, auxiliary volunteers act as public relation advocates for the hospital among their neighbors and friends. They take great pride in providing meaningful services that improve the lives of others. The teenage volunteers obtain a positive exposure to community service and, for those interested in careers in health care, obtain first hand experience of what a career in medicine has to offer. The hospital auxiliary administers a scholarship program for students accepted at the local college for rn, lpn, respiratory therapy, medical technology and radiology technician studies. The auxiliary remits payment for tuition and books directly to the college for successful applicants who maintain their grades. Applicants commit to work for the hospital for one year for each year that the scholarship is granted. This is especially valuable to the hospital because there is a critical national shortage of these health care support professionals.
