The Hospice Foundation of WNY was established in 1992 to provide support to Hospice Buffalo (Erie County, NY) and its affiliates under the umbrella of The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care. Mission Statement: The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care serves individuals with serious illness and those who share their lives. We are a leader in hospice, palliative care, grief support education, advocacy and other life-enhancing services. Hospice Buffalo is one of the most innovative Hospice programs in the United States as evidenced by the support it provides to more than 600 patients a day. Hospice Buffalo is located on the grounds of Hospice Mitchell Campus, that offers a 22-bed hospice inpatient unit specializing in pain and symptom management, a ten bed hospice residence (Hospice House), and the beautiful new Mary & Ralph Wilson Jr. Counseling Center – home to Life Transitions Center and the Essential Care for Children program - an innovative pediatric palliative care program for seriously ill children. Hospice Buffalo has also partnered with St. John Baptist Church to address the need to improve access to minority communities that traditionally underutilize end-of-life care. The new 8-bed St. John Baptist Hospice Buffalo house offers very home-like atmosphere that incorporates the cultural needs of the community.
